Watching **THE LEGEND OF KORRA** for the first time | Book 3 - LOSING MY SH*T EVERY TIME I SEE ZUKO

Avatar: The Legend of Korra is finally out on Netflix!!! So, of course, I'm going to watch and react to it! In today's episode, I'll be watching Book 3! Book 3/ Season 3 was the best season yet! After the Harmonic Convergence, the material world is now more connected with the spiritual world. As a lasting effect, new Airbenders are emerging! Among them, comes the villain Zahir and his band of other accomplices. I loved the backstory and history we got to learn around Lin and Su Beifong... Toph's daughters! BEST OF ALL WE GOT TO SEE SO MUCH OF OLDER ZUKO!!! I basically lost my mind every time he came on screen. I love him so much. :) Fantastic season. *Chef's Kiss*
When I was a kid, everyone I knew watched Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickelodeon. For some reason, I never got into it. To this day, my close friends still talk about the show regularly. But now I've watched all of ATLA and am moving on to The Legend of Korra!

"I'm surprised Aang never learned [metalbending]." Aang always had trouble with earthbending because it was so opposed to his nature. Korra's personality is already very blunt and direct, so earthbending's blunt and direct approach fits with her perfectly, which is why she took to it so easily.

That's true. It's interesting though because Earthbending was the one that saved Aang's ass for the most part during that fight against Ozai up until he entered the avatar state. I don't think he would've learned it any better than Toph's instruction too because Toph really drove it in him to stand his ground when he was refusing and hesitating to approach something differently and non-airbender like.

@@azulaeatingmochime2353 the anti bending movement was such an interesting concept and the choice to make such a manipulative yet poised character as Amon start was a good set up for conflict. It is too bad the ideas were tossed under the rug at the end of s1. There was a lot of lost potential there and a lot of of unanswered questions about the equalists and lack of consequences over the non beneder/bender conflict in the rest of the Avatar world.

Season 3 is the best . i like to share, in my opinion ZAHEER is the ANTI IROH. both are charismatic,knowledgeable,wise and spiritual. he is what happens if Iroh was evil. the parallels, he was in prison and spend his time trying just like iroh was and the level of spiritual prowess both have, one who could communicate in material realm while still be in spirit realm while iroh able to see fang, roku dragon sipirit in material realm in s1 ATLA. now imagine if we could see team Zaheer vs team Iroh, red lotus vs white lotus. and imagine if amon join them.

Eric V It’s never stated this in the show but it’s been stated by the creators that Zaheer spent years studying the Airbender culture and as well as their martial arts techniques and he just came a big fan of the culture as shown by his knowledge of the guru lahima.

Partially true. Ice bending isn't a thing, it's still water bending. It's not about changing the temperature, it's about manipulating the particles. The faster the particles move, the higher the temperature. The slower the particles move, the lower the temperature. Temperature is a by-product of particle movement, not the other way around. That doesn't mean that sticking something in the freezer won't freeze it, it just means that benders don't control temperature, they control matter (and in some cases energies). That being said, water has spiritual properties, hence some folks being able to heal. Spirit bending is a sub-set of Water. So is Blood bending. Lightning is a sub-set of Fire. Combustion is a more focused and refined version of Fire bending. Lava is a natural sub-set of Earth and to be honest I'm surprised no Earth benders who knew anything about metallurgy never figured out Metal bending WAY before Toph did. The only one that doesn't have a sub-set is Air. Flight isn't technically something different, it's still Air bending, it's just a very rare and difficult technique to learn. Unless one counts Meelo's fart bending xD

This season is _breathtaking_ as it has the greatest villains of LoK(imo, their also the most intriguing of either series); Zaheer & the Red Lotus. _Mindblowing_ as it rebalances the nation's/elements with Air's return. Has Korra growing into her own, only to have all her held and hidden fears brought back all at once. Leading to a _shockingly_ _crushing_ fate.

This is what I absolutely loved about book 3, learning more about Airbending and how it worked, seeing that it could be used to kill like that. and now we have the Kyoshi novels where it seems it's not so much pacifism that influences Airbending, but one's spirituality.

I really like how the Dai Li are teaching the airbenders to fight like earthbenders - stand firm in one place, don't move around, etc. Really shows the difference between just being able to do something, and actually mastering it.

One thing I like about the Korra v Zaheer fight is it's pretty much an opposite parallel of the Aang vs Ozai fight: Similar looking arena, Korra using firebending while Zaheer uses airbending, Korra being in the Avatar State, even ending with being trapped in a rock formation with the comic relief character making a joke.

I'm never sure if I like Book 3 or 4 the most. The Red Lotus are such interesting villains, the fight scenes are amazing, and the drama is so poignant. Oh, and big shock, Nickelodeon dicked them around again. Basically, some of the episodes got leaked online, so they rushed out the season 2-3 episodes at a time with no advertising. Then midway through, they took it off TV and premiered the new ones on Nick . com only.

I agree, and while at least for me Amon is my favorite villain, Zaheer's defeat is more satisfying. I put it down to the fact they didn't just physically beat Zaheer, but ideologically beat him as well. The newly revived institution of the Air Nomads was key to the defeat of the anarchist. While on the other hand they defeated Amon through character assassination to demoralize his base, but never really touched his thesis of equality or a world without bending.

I have to say I like this "whole season in one video" reaction style, especially for old shows I know very well. Not having to wait several weeks for specific favorite episodes is good and I don't feel like I'm missing much from individual episodes either. Also, my favorite sight-gag in the series might be the "is that a dragon?" bit, I think a lot of people miss the camel-llama things trying to get away from Zuko's dragon.

Just a correction at 35:24. She's not already the last Avatar. In SF of Book 2 she lost the connection to past lives, so she can not talk to previous Avatars, but the cycle is not broken. Btw, loving your reaction

Korra is such a tragic hero. Crazy ass villains. And she’s basically completely unprepared for the world because the adults around her determined what kind of life she should live for her. She’s not taught modern bending. She’s not told about the spirit world. She’s not warned about the Red Lotus. She’s constantly kept unaware. And as such she suffers for it. On top of that point, her villains all have valid concerns, but push them in the worst points. Something she’s forced to realize over and over again.

Book 3 and 4 are so good! I loved how dark it got to deal with darker problems. They actually took it off television the last part of season 3 and season 4 and made it available on the nickelodeon site only because it dealt with more mature themes

I love how they manage to let that little scene with Zuko talking about the combustion guy cuz there even after those years we can see his social akwardness Another thing that's really funny is in that scene when grandma asks Mako why he isn't dating girls like Asami or Korra is how at some point the grandma look straight to the "camera" , to us. Honestly this season is so good, so many awesome, emotional and omg moments. The book 3 of TLA and TLOK really are the best in my opinion. And the final battle is just breathtaking About Korra being the "last Avatar" It isn't that, is more like yes was the last of an era but also the first of a new era

Avatar Universe Villain Tier List: 1. Amon: He felt the scariest and did far more than Zaheer by infecting the non-bender public with his rhetoric and establishing an organisation with an army and technological advantage via Asami's father 2. Zaheer: Surprisingly posed a threat to the Avatar cycle near the end Season and there was no Aang appearing behind Korra to save her from the damage. 3. Azula: We all know why she's the best. 4. TLOK Book 4 Villain: Strong realistic purpose that had a lot of thought put into it. 5. I rank Unalaaq/Vaatu (evil coz evil) at least Unalaaq was able to strip Korra the past Avatars and Ozai (evil coz evil) in the same tier because they both have little substance to them. Ozai hardly has screen time compared to the others, just saying.

LOK season 3 and ATLA season 2 were the "Empire Strikes Back" (Star Wars reference) equivalent, in the sense that the protagonist "lost". Aang got struck by Azula's lightning from the back. Korra got physically and mentally affected by the mercury poison, and Luke got his hand cut off. We see our heroes fall, and this makes the next finale season even better, as we see how they crawl their way out of it, and become even better versions of themselves after the temporary setback.
