Really appreciate you addressing this subject, and I also appreciate your approach. I reconnected with my faith in my late teens/early twenties through the Hebrew Roots movement and while there are some beautiful things that I think the western church would benefit from by understanding the Hebrew calendar and feasts etc.. There were a lot of damaging teachings that took me some time to unlearn. Thank you for the content you continue to put out.

I’m adding this comment because I was involved with a Torah observant group here in South Carolina for over one year. I’m not happy to say this but I detect a slight hint of arrogance amongst these people. Not that they brag, but they look at main stream Christianity/theologians, with the idea that many are called, yet few are chosen, and they believe that they are chosen. They have an idea as if since the Bible says that the way is narrow, and only a few people find it, well, they believe that they are the few that “found” it.

If you REALLY think the apostles taught this, then why dont you see any of their immediate successors teaching it? For if we still live according to the Jewish law, we acknowledge that we have not received grace.” - Ignatius, letter to the Magnesians, letter 8.

@TheBiblicalRoots11 ай бұрын
Thanks, Isac! I teach and believe that obedience is God’s “love language.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). And I'm sure you would agree that not every command that God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or for certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I'm sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT teaches that the ceremonial commands given under the Law of the Sinai Covenant do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). So if you want to put a classification of "law" on it, Christians follow the Law of Christ. Blessings, Rob

Christians don’t follow Judaism today because the Mosaic covenant has been fulfilled in Jesus. Paul said, “If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” Peter said the yoke of Moses was a burden that Jewish people were not able to keep. Compare that with Matt 11:28-30

They have asked me not to share videos such as this with them, and have made in accurate comments that these type videos are coming from people who “do not believe the Old Testament“! This is so far off the rails! Rob, myself, and most of Christianity definitely believe the Old Testament, we believe that it points to the coming Messiah! These Hebrew roots people, they believe that all of the rest of the Christians going to church on Sunday are in disobedience to God. They do not like to be challenged, they do not like to be questioned and when I question them, they will not answer. And I definitely asked some blunt questions such as, if you do honestly believe that the Christians going to church on Sunday are disobeying God, then why don’t you get out there on the sidewalk and protest and warn them??

Intelligence is definitely something people look at; however, revelation from God and seeing the power of God when spreading the gospel is key. The torah movement does not have the power of God in their message. The people the torahist proselytize are Christians rather than those who don't know Jesus. I know this from first hand experience dealing with them
@kimartist11 ай бұрын
Interesting too that Jews don't proselytize & in fact, not outright, but subtly discourage conversion to Judaism, because they know it's a tough row to hoe & only want sincere converts. (Most conversions are due to marriage - i.e. one spouse who is highly motivated to please the other & make sure their children get a consistent spiritual message & culture.) Torahists on the other hand do everything they can to beg, borrow & browbeat (Christian) converts to their form of Judaism. I've seen one dude who with one hand dangles the "blessings" of Sabbath keeping (as if that's all there is to Torah observance) complete with rapturous descriptions of how wonderful & filled with ease & comfort his life has become (when Jesus said we would have trials, trouble & persecution), while at the same time threatening hellfire for not immediately complying with his way of thinking. It's all performance based & the lack of love & compassion for their fellow man is glaringly obvious.

Paul's wrote true scriptural teachings and if you do a thorough study you will conclude that christianity have been wrongly taught. I blame this on Roman religious leaders and the Greek who translated words and verses to make it appear like it means something else; ultimately distorting the scriptures to suit what they wanted to teach and make one to believe and teach. Theologians have adapted to their teachings and Robert Solberg is one of them. Here is an ex: i am not denying the deity of Yeshua but show me where in the scripture did God address Yeshua as God. Paul is definitely a stumbling block for Torahists as he continually & eloquently & even deliberately in Romans & Galatians (& Hebrews if you believe Paul wrote it), describes living a Christian life sans Torah observance. In their eagerness to explain away difficulties by saying everything was mistranslated &/or misinterpreted, I have not seen Torahists address Paul's specific cursing of Torahists in Galatians 1 : 8 & 9 and his verbal castration of same in Galatians 5 : 12. When you sit down & read Galatians cover to cover (instead of cherry picking favorite verses & twisting), you see a blazing red hot indictment of Torahism. Paul was not playing around. He hated this false gospel as it neutralized his Lord Jesus' sacrificial work on the cross & brought all faith in Him to naught.

I’ve watched this video laboriously over the past three days. I’ve come up with 45 points of contention, but I could have easily come up with over sixty. The speaker’s word games he plays are astonishingly infantile, but I guess that’s because of who it’s directed at those who subscribe to his channel. It’s the only reasonable answer I can come up with. AND I do not mean that as an ad hominem attack, either. He finishes with a statement about making comments, and it appears he might get to them, but probably not. He also ends the video with the word “Shalom,” which, since he did not mention anything else in Hebrew during this video, I can only take it as a mocking finish. One glaring problem with this video is its lack of Scriptural support. I had so many passages in my notes, but I realize that most people who grab a hold of this sort of thing are into fast-food spirituality, so they are not prone to listen to anything longer than 30 seconds. The speaker’s idea of using a “thought experiment” just goes off the deep end with so many of the broad questions he asks to impugn other people’s thoughts, ideas, concepts, and standings. I began to laugh at the video when the speaker mentioned “Torahism.” My mind immediately went to Catholicism, Protestantism, Mormonism, Anomianism (which they all take part in), and Dispensationalism, along with others, but I digress. I’ll get right to the meat of my jibber-jabbering. The speaker erroneously concludes that there is nothing written about the Xtian church against Torah-observant people. I only have to mention one word - POGROM. I’ll leave it to others who actually care about the matter to go out and see for their self how many times the “church” (remember Spain? How about England in the 1100s. The Russians in the 1800-1900s) actually took part in terrorizing and killing millions of Torah-observant people (and not just the Jews). So often, the Xtian organizations took on tacit approval of what was done to the Jews, and, much to the contrary of the speaker’s claim that nothing was ever written about the Xtian church taking part against Torah-observant people can clearly be seen to be in error. Show me, in Scripture, where the resurrection was to have taken place on the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the spring equinox. You won’t find it. It’s a creation of paganistic infusion brought about by the Roman Catholic Church (RCC). This is just a hint of where Xtianity has removed matters of Torah and replaced them with their traditions. I’ll briefly get to Halachot, Minhagim, Takanot, Gezerot, and Ma’asim. Show me, in Scripture, when the Messiah was born. His birth has nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas. “Mass” in the RCC means “death” or “departure.” The shortest day of the year is Dec. 21/22. The day Sol Invictus appears in the sky for the least amount of time. Three days later, the Messiah was said to have been born. Ask any of your Wiccan friends about this. They’ll be glad to enlighten you about where this came from. As it is, do a study both on Passover (Pesach) and Sukkot, and you’ll get your unequivocal answer to this question. Shabbat was changed on whose authority? There is nothing in Scripture about this, but, there is a WHOLE LOT to support the truth that Shabbat has not been done away with in Scripture. I can probably speak to this under another one of the speakers’ posts. If you want to look further into it, go here: www.biblesabbath.org/confessions.html I mentioned Halachot, Minhagim, Takanot, Gezerot, and Ma’asim, just above. What are the Xtian versions of those things? As regards how so many geniuses were clueless about Scripture, one only needs to understand the concept shown in Is. 29:10-14 and for Israel in Jer. 16:14-19. One only needs look at the news for the latter reference. Faithful and obedient Israel says, “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.” Again, look at the Xtian version of Halachot, Minhagim, Takanot, Gezerot, and Ma’asim. There is just so much more that I could cover, but I’ll end it here by asking the speaker to make a video regarding his take on the following: What does the following mean? “…And we know that the Torah is good if one uses it legitimately…” (I Tim 1:8) See also Romans 7:10, 12-14, 16, 22; Romans 8:3-8 (Please, remember Romans 7:14). If one is not in the Spirit, which is Torah, then one is in the flesh. What does the following mean? “For not the hearers of the Torah are righteous in the sight of Elohim, but the doers of the Torah shall be declared right.” (Romans 2:13) See also Mt. 7:21-27, with special emphasis on what the word “lawlessness” means, Scripturally, and James 2:14-24. Finally, what does the following mean? “Do we nullify the Torah through faith? Let it not be! On the contrary, we ESTABLISH THE TORAH.” (Romans 3:31) See also Romans 7:12. I’ll be moving on to the next of this speaker’s videos, as they appear to be easily disassembled. I don't really expect any sort of answer to any of these things. Onward I go!

If the Priesthood is changed, Then so does the person who we should Listen to Concerning the law. Christ is the Priest. Christ said this Matthew 5:17-18 (KJV) 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 1) Christ fulfilled the Law 2) Heaven and earth Passed (Look up what the jews understood this term to mean) 3) When Christ Died, The New Covenant/ law of Christ was in full affect. You might say, well paul kept a nazirite vow after Christ departed into heaven, He did that as to not offend the Jews, The same reason he circumcised timothy, To not offend them. Paul tells you several times that righteousness is NOT limited to the customs of the Jews. Noah was righteous, Yet he wasnt under Mosaic law, Neither was abraham. U might say Genesis 26:5 (KJV) Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. HOWEVER the Commands and statutes that were Given to abraham that we can see in the bible are Not the ones we see given to Moses, An example being, The covenant with men that came before abraham was in genesis 9, In genesis 9 God gives Noah and his sons the right to consume all flesh at their own discretion, which INCLUDES “Unclean” animals deemed so in the law of moses. So we see abraham who was born under that covenant was considered righteous. And so u might say, “Well Noah knew the difference between clean and unclean animals” And to that i would disagree again, Because the Book of Genesis was rewritten by a later author who put those terms into the book, Just like he put “Land of Nod” and “land of Dan” in there, Neither of those lands were named thus prior to the book of Joshua, and or later, so we can see genesis has a later revisionist behond moses. SECONDARILY the clean and unclean animals prior to Genesis 9 were strictly for sacrifices/ offerings, BECAUSE according to genesis 1:28-29 Man was only permitted to eat Herbs bearing seed, and Not animals Flesh. So you see prior to Moses righteousness and wickedness existed OUTSIDE OF THE LAW OF MOSES. Furthermore Ecclesiastes 7:29 (KJV) Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions. God already made men upright, Before even Moses. The King that took abrahams wife KNEW that adultery was wrong, Before Moses was even Born. God flooded the earth for the sake of violence. If i loved my neighbor as myself how could we have violence? In the bible noah didnt have feast days and sabbaths, Neither did abraham. Only the jews were given that covenant. Deuteronomy 5:2-3 (KJV) 2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, [even] us, who [are] all of us here alive this day. The covenant made in horeb was for a time, UNTIL THE TIME OF REFORMATION. @@Biblicaldetail 1. No one is to be coerced into following Torah. Coercion creates prosylytes. Willful obedience, coming to understand matters, in time, makes disciples. 2. With the priesthood being "changed," there would also come a change of Torah. Well, that interpretation is totally in error. The Torah does not change, at all. EVER. What changes is the understanding of what was given in the first place. What makes the new cutting (covenant) new is the disposition of sin. That is all. There is nothing more. Now is the exact same thing as prior to Yehoshua's coming, with the understanding of the types being fulfilled in the anti-type. Nothing has changed except the understanding. This was foreshadowed by the "veil" Mosheh had placed over his face. The glory is not what was fading. What was fading was the ignorance of the people, having its complete and total fulfillment in Yehoshua. This is why the rending of the veil in the temple occurred. It was symbolic of that truth finally being revealed in the Messiah. 3. In Jewish thought, "heaven and earth passing away" is often interpreted as a symbolic representation of a radical transformation or renewal of the world, signifying the end of the current era and the coming of a new, messianic age, often referred to as "Olam Ha-Ba" (the World to Come), where the world will be perfected and a righteous society will exist; this doesn't necessarily mean a literal destruction of the physical universe, but rather a profound change in its nature and order. This new order of things will not take place until Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot at some point in the future. It has not occurred yet. Adopting the thought that heaven and earth has passed is nothing but a lot of hot air. The Messiah, in Luke 24:44, indicated what was written about Him, SPECIFICALLY. We are to be aware of those specifics, as they point right to His eventual second return. Sukkot = "The Season of Our Joy." To think that the Messiah fulfilled all of Torah would be in error, also. How would He have fulfilled those things which are given to women? There are a host of other things that do not apply to Him, but apply to all of us in varying degrees. 4. As regarding what Rav Sha'ul taught, it might behoove those who have an anomian bent to look up Romans 2:13 and 3:31: "For not the hearers of the Torah are righteous in the sight of Elohim, but the doers of the Torah shall be declared right... Do we then nullify the Torah through the belief? Let it not be! On the contrary, we establish the Torah." Also, look at Romans 7:12-14. These are absolutely CLEAR indicators as to what Rav Sha'ul both thought and taught. Nothing could be more clear. Even Ya'acov's statement backs up Rav Sha'ul. Go look it up. 5. As regarding Rav Sha'ul having circumcised Timothy, I'd have to think that Timothy wasn't coerced and had probably given thought to the matter long before he AGREED to have the circumcision done. If one were to ACTUALLY look at the passage in Acts, in verses 1-4, one would see the situation spoken of above. Rav Sha'ul would not have pushed Timothy to be circumcised. As it is, in verse four, we see that they went through the cities, delivering the "regulations to keep," that included the four in Acts 15, but also what is shown in verse 21. What is shown in verse 21 would indicate that circumcision was still a matter to take into account. It was not to be pushed, though, as the covenant of circumcision is a family matter. Those who are on the outside of the family should consider being just like Ruth. In being like Ruth, they would be accepted into the family. 6. You'll have to do a better study of documentary hypothesis to understand what is given in the Torah regarding place names. As regarding any sort of "revisionist," one might aptly apply the thought, but not the fact, of Yehoshua being that writer. Mosheh did not go about doing everything on his own. His assistant had a hand in helping. There may have actually been talk between the two men. Imagine that! You might also want to look more deeply into the Hebrew and how homonymic words are applied. An example of "the land of Nod" can simply mean "being in the state of vagrancy." The same goes for Eden. There is no place on the planet known as such. The term "‛ēḏen" simply means "pleasure." Again, man was created to be in a state of pleasure. It is a fact of mind, rather than a temporary physical place. As regarding the “land of Dan,” I’d have to think you’d find fault with the term “brother,” as seen in Bereshith 14:14, but there is no problem there except for those who are clueless. But I digress. In Devarim 34:1, we also see the term “Dan,” as in “the land of,” since it had not been allocated to the tribe at that point in time. A simple, although rather long, explanation will suffice: To the rationalistic objection that “identical names of places are not imposed twice,” we may reply, in general, that it is “in full accordance with the genius of the Oriental languages and the literary tastes of the people” to suppose that a name may be renewed; in other words, that a new meaning and significancy may be attached to an old name.355 This fact sweeps away a host of objections urged against this and similar cases. The whole series of events served to recall to Isaac’s mind the former name and the circumstances which gave rise to it, hence he renewed it. From 26:15, 18 we learn that all the wells dug by Abraham had been filled with earth by the Philistines, but that Isaac reopened them, and called them by the old familiar names. This would seem a sufficient explanation of the case before us. In much the same way the following examples of a twofold naming are to be solved. Bethel named at one time, Genesis 28:19; at a later time, Genesis 35:15 (at the first time Jacob made a vow that, if God would bless and keep him till his return, the pillar which he had set up should be “God’s house.”356 Upon his return, in view of the abundant blessings which he had received, he performed his vow,357 changing the ideal to an actual Bethel, and thus emphasizing and confirming the original name). Dan named, Genesis 14:14; Deuteronomy 34:1 and Joshua 19:47; Judges 18:29 (many commentators-Deyling, Eichhorn, Hävernick, Hengstenberg, Jahn, Kalisch, Keil, Lange, Quarry, Zeller, and others-think that in Genesis another town is intended, that commonly termed “Dan-jaan.” Possibly the city may have had two names in ancient times-Laish (or Leshem) and Dan; one of these being more used at one time, the other at another.358 Le Clerc suggests that the town was originally called Laish, and the fountain Dan, i.e. judge; but that the Danites gave the name of the fountain, which corresponded with that of their own tribe, to the city, as a substitute for its former name). renewal is aptly intimated and expressed by the renewal of his name). (Haley, John. Alleged Discrepancies of the Bible . Whitaker House) As regarding “Dan-Jaan,” we see: “If the reading is correct, the name of a city mentioned only once in the Bible (II Sam. xxiv. 6). It was one of the places included in the route of Joab and his associates when they were sent out by David to number the people. Their route was eastward across the Jordan, northward through the trans-Jordanic tribes, westward to Sidon, passing Dan-jaan on the way, and southward as far as Beersheba. It is natural, then, to identify Dan, on the northern boundary of Israel, with Dan-jaan, although Conder, after Schultz, seeks to identify it with Danian near Achzib. For "Jaan" various emendations have been proposed. Gesenius changes into ("Dan of the wood"). Wellhausen and, following him, Budde, Kittel, and Driver read ("and from Dan they went round"). Klostermann and Grätz change into (Ijon), a city mentioned in connection with Dan in I Kings xv. 20.” (jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/4868-dan-jaan) Continued below.

@@BiblicaldetailPerhaps you will be able to read and digest what you read sometime in the future. Everything I spoke of is truthful. It is not my fault you cannot see this. It is not even my problem. If opinion is based on the proper use of Scripture, then I am guilty as charged. Also, your cowardly thought of agreeing to disagree is very weak. You won't be able to answer questions posited such as, "If "Jesus" fulfilled all of the "Law," then what about Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot?" You won't be able to answer. If you try to, then I will guarantee that your response will be weak and ineffectual. Go ahead and try it. I'd like for the public to see your response. These three mo'edim are still on the slate to be accomplished. Therefore Yehoshua has not fulfilled all of which He was sent to fulfill. Also, He could NOT have fulfilled all of the Torah, as some aspects of it applied to women as well as other things. He did not come to abolish Torah, as you are well aware. He came to fulfill. Look at Lk. 24:44. What was not shown in typical thought is still applicable and will ALL be reinstated at the third temple. As regarding the Torah, please, educate me on what Romans 2:13 says. When you're done with that, skip over to the next chapter and tell me what Romans 3:31 speaks of. Come on back out and let the world see your intelligence on full display. Bounce back to Romans 7:14. I love these various thought experiment posts and videos. In talking to my Messianic rabbi friend, I had an insight myself of the double mindedness of things if Hebrew roots were true. You would have the apostles working on two simultaneous projects, namely establishing their own Messianic congregation, while at the same time trying to reform the old Jews. And that presents a problem that there is only suppose to be one Body of Christ, not parallel congregations and bodies. Christianity is supposed to be new wine skin, covenant etc. not a greased up wine skin.

I think a major aspect of biblical content that gets overlooked by Torahism is that there is more than one covenant in the Torah, and in the Tenakh. The Torah includes the covenant to Abraham, which speaks of many nations, whereas the covenant at Sinai is with one nation. The Apostle Paul makes a big deal out of the Abrahamic covenant, and how the faith of Abraham preceded circumcision, and how the law of Sinai would not supplant the covenant with Abraham (Gal 3.17). Then we also see the New Covenant spoken of in the Torah in Deuteronomy 30.6. Deut. 18.14-19 speaks of one who would come after Moses, and would be a new revelation unlike the scary voice they heard at Sinai. This new prophet and something to replace Sinai's voice implies that there would also be a new covenant when the Prophet who bears the Name would appear to them and speak to them, and that him they must heed. We also read that in their understanding a covenant ceases with the death of the testator, and we read that Jesus died, and that before he died he instituted a new covenant in his blood. These are all pieces of biblical content that are positive evidence that the law given at Sinai was not meant for all time, nor for all people. There is at least one extra-Sinai covenant in the Tenakh after the end of the Torah, which is the covenant with David. The prophets speak of a new covenant, but they seem to be elaborating on what had already been revealed through Moses in Deut. 30.6. The new covenant is a way of separating God's people from the others, and conforming the character of God's people to the character of the Father, which both seem to be the major thrusts of the Sinai covenant, that is, "This is who your God is, and what He values, therefore this is who you will be, and what you will value." The goal of separating apart a people to be like YHWH is accomplished differently in the New Covenant (Eph. 5.1) , and much more effectively, but it was the same goal that was seen in a shadowy way in the covenant at Sinai. Sinai was a different context, but the same God. The New Covenant is a universal context, and the same God. I find a significant difference between the wording "You will not kill" from the common wording we see "Do not kill." The future tense is not a prediction so much as an expectation, a family obligation towards their god and father, who they will be in light of who their God is. The command with the wording "Do not kill" frames it in a non-relational way, that sounds more authoritarian, demanding, and burdensome. The future tense inspires a sense of belonging and comfort, knowing that the God is the patron who will look after them in unity and loyal faithful compassion. The command form inspires a sense of dread and fear, with the threat of guilt and punishment, and somebody bigger than you who will make you do what they want, or else. The future tense speaks of a selfless God, whereas the command form makes God seem selfish. The future tense speaks in a shame culture mentality, where to not behave that way brings shame, whereas the command form brings guilt for not obeying. The Sinai covenant beyond the ten commandments does not always have the future tense, if I remember correctly, and the ten commandments are not all phrased in the future tense (remember the sabbath, honor your parents). In the NIV, Exodus 20.3-4 are "You shall not" but verse 23 has two "do not's". There is a difference. The main covenant seems to be the Decalogue with God stating who he is. (He is not the God who brought the Gentiles out of Egypt, but he is the God who brought Israel out of Egypt.) Then the many other commands seem to be precepts derived from the Decalogue that Moses or later editors worked out in their legal system for how their nation should function in light of their being God's people in that context.

I might only add that not only does a testator have to die in order to end (or complete) his covenant (or will), he also needs to die before his inheritors can inherit. TO seem bound & determined to return all of humanity to a doomed pre-cross state, where no one can inherit anything, because the Testator (Christ) didn't die, His covenant (will) didn't cease (complete) & therefore animals must still be continually sacrificed in a non-existent Temple for the temporary atonement of sins ad infinitum (which is as ridiculous as it is impossible).

Right, if Hebrew Roots theology (or rather bunch of theologies) is true, then it means the gates of hell managed to prevail over the Church, which clearly contradicts Jesus's words in Mat 16:18. Yes, theologies in Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism and conservative Protestantism may differ on some substantial questions, but nonetheless they all have common core beliefs and can share the basic creeds, which HRM theologies openly oppose.

It's weird that I have not met any Torah keeping Christ followers (I was told not to call them Christians because many don't like that term) until a couple years ago I stumbled upon a facebook group consisting mainly of Torah keeping believers and then an additional facebook page of a woman who is very outspoken about her Torah keeping faith. After some really engaging conversations with a sweet Torah keeper, I dug deeper and found your KZbin channel. I am so glad this channel exists, because the things the Torah keeping believers say sound so believable and it would really be easy to walk down that path if a person didn't know their Bible very well. In fact, I was starting to question a few things myself about my own faith. What those conversations did spark inside me though, is a desire to get to know the roots of my own faith and to start looking into the background of the reformation and some of the early Protestant Christians.

I would like to add, as a possible reason why the Hebrew Roots is still among us. It started after Jesus resurrection, the soldiers who guarded the tomb were paid to say "His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept." Matthew 28:13-15. The connection requires a little bit of meditation. One other thing I would like to address, that is that Jewish believers do still observe Torah according to the Jerusalem council of Elders. And according to the same council, Gentile believers need not observe any such thing, only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. Acts 15. And Acts 21. Besides that "we are not under law but under grace." Romans 6:14-18
@heather60211 ай бұрын
Acts 15 But some believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.” The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter. And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus just as they will.

Keep reading in that same chapter Acts 15:19-22 NASB1995 [19] Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, [20] but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. [21] For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” [22] Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas-Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren, Go learn from Moses.. the rich man and lazerath if they don't listen to Moses they wouldn't belive even if someone was raised from the dead..

What some do, is they just toss out Paul, many of them. I've been involved in many Torah groups but NEVER felt led to toss out Paul. Spiritually I always knew, praises to the Most High, that was very VERY dangerous ground. I'm studying Acts, Galatians and Romans so much more now and am seeing the error of observing the Mosaic Law. Actually Luke 22:20 TOTALLY jumps off the pages of scripture now. Still relearning what I relearnt... I'm now trying to figure out how to make changes since ive been, for example doing Sabbath on Saturdays and not working on that day, doing the feast days, wearing tzit tzit...not that i did those things "to be saved" but was doing them BECAUSE i was saved and believed i should be doing them. I also see the errors in so many Sunday churches, with the hyper greasy grace, that it's difficult to know what i should be doing...I know i am trusting in Messiah only for salvation, but now i feel slightly lost as to what to do. All of my associations, especially online, are ALL Torah based. My husband has come to the same conclusion, thankfully before me and we're studying together, but it is not easy. I'm wondering if i was brainwashed...has this happened to anyone else? I'm wondering if there's any support groups? I won't bash Torah because its a "tutor" but also want to do what's right in the eyes of the Almighty.

We only keep the laws (I prefer "guidelines") that are reiterated in the New Testament. Effectively, we put aside *all* of the Old Testament, including the Decalogue. The mistake people make is to think that the reiteration of some of the laws means a continuation of the Old. The new testament laws (guidelines) are stated in the New Testament: they are that we believe in Jesus, express self-sacrificial love one for the other, get baptised, lay off sin (sexual misbehaviour, greed, witchcraft, idolatry, gluttony, dishonesty), pray to and worship God with uplifted hands and thanksgiving, seek spiritual gifts, and fellowship with other believers, including the sharing of a meal of bread and wine, and profess our faith and baptise others in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Regarding food, don't eat meat with the blood of the animal in it. That's about it. It's harder than it seems since it involves actually living and hearing from God in a daily basis. I hope this helps. God bless you!

Also DA Carson agrees with you about what "the Law and the Prophets" means: "Jesus’ mission was not to “abolish” (a term more frequently connected with the destruction of buildings [24:2; 26:61; 27:40], but not exclusively so [e.g., 2 Macc 2:22]) “the Law or the Prophets.” By these words Matthew forms a new inclusio (5:17-7:12), which marks out the body of the sermon and shows that Jesus is taking pains to relate his teaching and place in the history of redemption to the OT Scriptures. For that is what “the Law or the Prophets” here means-the Scriptures. The disjunctive “or” makes it clear that neither is to be abolished. The Jews of Jesus’ day could refer to the Scriptures as “the Law and the Prophets” (7:12; 11:13; 22:40; Lk 16:16; Jn 1:45; Ac 13:15; 28:23; Ro 3:21); “the Law ..., the Prophets and the Psalms” (Lk 24:44); or just “the Law” (v.18; Jn 10:34; 12:34; 15:25; 1Co 14:21); the divisions were not yet stereotyped. Thus even if “or the Prophets” is redactional (Dalman, Jesus-Jeshua, 62, and many after him), the referent does not change when only law is mentioned in v.18, but it may be a small hint that law also has a prophetic function..." - DA Carson, Matthew: The Expositors Bible Commentary, 2017

@@anonymom_ There is some deference to the old sabbath in traditional Christianity. This is where we get the weekend from that is the old Sabbath together with the Lord's day. You will not however find anything like Seventh Day Adventism in the ancient Church. Ignatius of Antioch is quite explicit when it comes to Christians not being under the Jewish law, including the Sabbath. As an Eastern Christian I got some deference to the Sabbath, but believe the 8th day, the day of the Resurrection, and the giving of Holy Spirit to the Church at Pentecost is superior to it and this is the proper day to have a main Eucharistic church service.

Unfortunately a lot of HR people miss grace. All sin is covered by the blood. Never underestimate the power of the death and resurrection. Unfortunately mainstream Christian’s miss the instructions and the beauty of the law. A lot of your points have a lot of holes in it my brother. Polycarp said that he does everything John does including observing sabbath and specifically Passover.(just to name one early church fathers) The Bible is full of references that point to the law still being truth and binding. Including Pauls letters. The curse of the law is condemnation and death. This is clearly done away with by the death and resurrection of Jesus. The law is instruction for how one is to live as a priests and kings. Not to toot your horn and think of yourselves as better than another. Obedience is worship. Here’s a theory, if I’m right and the law is still binding. Everyone is under grace and the blood covers your sin. If I’m wrong I’m still covered by the blood as long as you don’t see your works as salvation. This point is made very clearly by paul. And everything I do is filthy compared to the glory of God one way or another. How about we all just get along…… one thing before I shut up, read the Bible with fresh eyes and fresh heart every time you pick it up. Test everything, and be slow to judge the man next to you. We are all on the path of sanctification and let’s not put stumbling blocks in front of each other. Can I get a hallelujah please?!

@ShiaDiscourse- We're evidently reading different Bible's. The Old Covenant had blessings and curses. We all like the idea of blessings, but we ignore the courses promised for breaking the binding Ketubah. Those curses were just as promised as the blessings. To save Israel from the utter destruction promised for disobedience, a New Covenant had to be made and one of the testators of the Old Covenant had to die free Israel (the wife) from the Old Covenant and the curses promised for violating it. God the testator died as Yeshua and a New Covenant was established through which Israel could be saved. All who chose to be redeemed could enter freely into the New Covenant but those who refused suffered the penalty promised under the Old.

Hi Rob After following your channel for a Month now Im confuse of the purpose of your channel about defending biblical roots of Christianity. Not sure where you stand in regards biblical roots since Jesus Roots were Jewish and born of a Jewish Woman under the Jewish Law and that He obey perfectly. Jesus taught His Jewish followers how to Keep the Law as Jewish and How to Keep the Law for those outside the law. When you talk about the Law which you think is not required any more You are giving the impression of Anti-biblical Roots or Anti-Law even Anti-Semitic which i dint think you are. To be fair and biblical can you add this Theory In Genesis about the fight between Kingdom of Heaven and The Kingdom of this world? The word of God says "Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger."" Genesis 25:23 NKJV In Exodus with Moses and Joshua defeating the Amalekites. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner; for he said, "Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation."" Exodus 17:14-16 NKJV Now Esther and Mordecai fighting the spirit of Amalek in Haman and ending in victory for the Jews giving birth to the Feast of Purim to the Jews were all the Jews that were at Shushan (QAHAL in Hebrew -Which means congregation, assembly) assembled together to made a day of feasting and gladness also from resting from their enemies. So they called these days Purim, after the name Pur. Therefore, because of all the words of this letter, what they had seen concerning this matter, and what had happened to them, the Jews established and imposed it upon themselves and their descendants and all who would join them, that without fail they should celebrate these two days every year, according to the written instructions and according to the prescribed time, that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city, that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews, and that the memory of them should not perish among their descendants." Esther 9:26-28 NKJV We cannot put aside that there is spirits like the Amalek spirit trying to remove the Jewishness of Jesus. This is where Main stream Christianity looks like today when there is no (Yirah) fear of the Lord. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hne8ppyOeciYnNUsi=ningbu3zyLiIJUaD

Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah, born under the law (Gal 4:4), and He said, "Salvation is from the Jews" (John 4:22). Here are four things I believe the NT teaches about the law that I have shared previously: (1.) *The Torah has not been done away with.* It is a part of holy Scripture. Every Christian Bible begins with the Torah, and it is, therefore, “breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (1 Tim 3:16-17). (2.) *The Law of Moses plays an important role in the life of a Christian.* It witnesses against our sin (Rom. 7:7), points us to Jesus (Gal. 3:23-25), teaches us about God and the history of His people, offers wisdom and insight, deepens our understanding of the person and work of Christ, and challenges us to love God (Deut. 6:4-5) and love our neighbor (Lev. 19:18). (3.) *The Law of Moses is not binding on followers of Jesus as a body of legal requirements of obedience.* This is the consistent witness of the biblical authors across the NT (Acts 15:1-29; Rom. 7:6, 14:1-23; Gal. 3:24-25; Col. 2:16-17, etc.). (4.) *This does not mean that Christians are without a law and can do whatever we want!* No! Jesus and NT authors give us many commands. Christians are absolutely called to live lives of love, service, purity, obedience, and moral virtue (Gal 5:13). Blessings, Rob

Hi, Bouncer!

Yeshua said go every sabbath listen to Moses and do what he says!!!.. The rich man and the poor man.. @@TheBiblicalRoots I get thats not the main point of this video (that is to say look all these people that want to keep Gods commandments beause they love him are wrong and this Is why) Matthew 22:37-40 NASB1995 [37] And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ [38] This is the great and foremost commandment. [39] The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ [40] On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Here Yeshua is saying quoting from torah Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NASB1995 [4] “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! [5] You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. [6] These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. [7] You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. [8] You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. [9] You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Leviticus 19:18-19 NASB1995 [18] You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord. [19] ‘You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together. (And alot of other places) Jeremiah 31:31-34 NASB1995 [31] “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, [32] not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. [33] “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [34] They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” Hebrews 10:15-18 NASB1995 [15] And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, [16] “This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will write them,” He then says, [17] “And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” [18] Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin. Instead of being on tablets Yah is turning our heart from stone and putting His Law in our minds.. his Torah.. not half of it not this one or that one the whole thing Do we Love God with all.our heart and all our mind if the answer is Yes which it is then why is it wrong to keep his commandments? Do i do it to be saved ?No. Do i do it to say oh look at me im so much better than every one else? no I don't. I do it because I love YWHW and I want to show him that love (No i am not perfect but I'm trying my hardest) So if LOVE is what the Torah teaches as Yeshua quoted taught love. (Him being YWHW 's word so the Torah made flesh as it says in John 1.) Then why not love him.. go thru the entire 600 odd commands (not the way the Jews have twisted them the way they are intended that Yeshua brought them back to) they teach you how to love God or love your neighbour. If your enemy ox falls into a ditch you shall save it and look after it untill he returns. Exodous 23:4-5 this is love.. The ten commandments. 1. You will have no other Gods before me... Which is a Love God commandment 2. You shall not make idols.. love God commandment 3.don't take Gods name in vain. Love YWHW commandment 4 keep the sabbath day. Love God and love your neighbour commandment. 5. honor your mother and father.. love your neighbour commandment 6. Do not murder. love your neighbour commandment 7. Don't murder. love your neighbour commandment 8. Don't steal. love your neighbour commandment 9. Don't lie. love your neighbour commandment 10. Don't covert.. love your neighbour commandment Are they binding thats up to you. Can we keep some of them? Possibly not some of them are out of my control to keep. as you said some pertain to women some to men some to priest. Are they hard? Well not really not as hard as i was taught in a modern church.. will they save us? Nope no chance? Do they show where our heart is? 110%. you me joe from down the street will be judged by every word and action. . Should we sit around making videos saying with lots of words and people, trying to prove that I'm right and they are wrong than the the other side. No we shouldn't. goes for both sides.. yes there are some things that should be corrected. And yes we should stand on YWHWs truth and walk in his light but who is more important? The person that belives or the unbeliever. How about we sprinkle seeds instead and let YWH grow this seeds the way he sees fit. I am unworthy imperfect person and so are you. Why do you want to cause so much more division ? You could spend your video making time in showing love to your enemy. Love to the other side... every video I watch of you is attack the other side attack the other side!! Humbly I ask you to step back and pray about this please .. Love God with all you heart and you neighbour as your self on these hang the Torah and the prophets.. Just like you hang your clothes on a coat hanger if you dont have these then you walk around with only a coat hanger and either naked or wearing spiritual clothes that are not Gods Love and shalom Ben please pray and think about this

So the claim is the New Covenant was only taught but not actually demonstrated prior the testator's death? Heb 9:16-17 makes clear a testament goes into effect at the testator's death. Paul confirms that once the testator dies there can not be new changes to his testament Gal 3:15 As He hung dead on the cross the New Covenant age began went into effect...and His disciples still hurried to bury Him in order to keep the Sabbath according to the commandment says Luke...and Passover. As if we are NOT to live as He lived? 1 John 2:6 or not love just as He loved us? NO evidence is provided for the claims He made changes...that He served leftover Easter Ham sandwhiches during His 40 days He spent with them after His resurrection. Did He teach one thing and do another like a hypocrite Pharisee? Here are they that keep the commandments of Yah and the faith OF "Jesus" Rev 14:12 what was His faith? Buddhism? Hindu? Muslim? Christianity? East or West... Christendom merely keeps the false witness begun by the Synagogue of Freedman that He changed the customs Moses delivered us Acts 6:9-17 Luke calls it false witness as they were trying to slander Stephen claiming he taught the customs were changed...it would be TRUE witness if Stephen did teach that because He did DO that...

Hallo Professor Solberg, I always like watching your videos even though I don’t always agree with your conclusions. I also like watching Rabbi Tovia Singer who I agree with much he says but also don’t agree with his conclusions. I believe you both are right on many issues and wrong at the same time. Anyway, let me respond to your video: 1. Corruption: we know that New Testament scriptures were corrupted. For example ancient manuscripts and writings of the church fathers do point towards the baptism being the major event that made Jesus the son of God and not the nativity stories. Also the gospel and Hebrews writers and Paul often misquote passages from the TeNaCh or take them out of context to make them confirm their theology. 2. Error: All the giants of faith throughout history were concerned with other issues mostly than to verify the New Testament against the Hebrew Scriptures 3. Conspiracy: who benefits? All Bishops and Christians who wanted the persecution to stop. Legalising Christianity in the Roman Empire was a big motivational factor to make it more Roman friendly and elevate the status of Jesus so he would be accepted worthy of following in a Hellenistic World. Compromises that the church might have deemed beneficial for the Christians in general. Like Christians today celebrate Easter and Christmas, compromising to not offend the world for no beneficiaries reason. And why not blame the Jews if it helps to stop Christian persecution. They were an easy scapegoat. And let’s make Pilate a saint.

One problem we do have today is gentile judaizers and its kinda ironic, but hey we're in the last days. The moral law is eternal, but only because sin is present do we need it. Once sin is done away with and it will be done away with also so will the LAW. Because where there is no sin there is no law

I literally experienced this and praise Lord Jesus for revealing me the truth. He told me it was never about Religion. He said God actually created Religion last (Torah) to eliminate all other religions and reveal Himself as true. Because no other religion actually revealed mankind’s flaws. Jesus Christ is the only way back to God now. The Torah only reveals God as true. But keeping or not keeping it does nothing for salvation. Love fulfills the whole Mosaic Law, and eradicates and prevents sin in general. So the Law of Moses is null compared to Love.
@Oversite8699 ай бұрын
I’ll tell you the cause of this. It’s racism. Some of my afro-America Torah observant brothers believe we are still obligated to keep it because we were lied to by other nations not to and salvation only belongs to Afro-Israelites and no other nation because God loved Jacob but rejected all other nations without acknowledging the fact that because God said He hates Esau doesn’t mean we mortal creatures should also hate Esau, which would be equating ourselves to God, just like Satan did. WE BE LOVE. Keep teaching brother.

As far as the Conspiracy theory goes I have mentioned something I learned in psychology that people tend to reinterpret the past in light of the present. And on this topic, Torahist and Hebrew roots tend to interpret Church history with the jaundiced eye of what happened with the Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition etc. which is much different that what happened in ancient times. Not only that we actually see the opposite namely ani-gentilism in Judaism, especially in the work of the Talmud, but you can see a little prejudice in the New Testament where folks were afraid to eat with gentiles because of the kosher customs. I really believe there is a kind of tit for tat animosity that developed Between Christianity and Judiasm that came over persecution and rivalry. Christianity of course came out on top which is why things are framed as they are, but in the early centuries this would be a bit like a Jacob and Esau sibling rivalry.

I greatly appreciate Dr Solberg’s work. I believe he presents data in a Christian manner, much as Jesus did with the woman at the well. Hence the reason I subscribe to his channel and follow his work. However, I do not agree with a number of assertions in this video. I am pronomian, but I tend to agree more with Dr Roy Gane and his approach to the Law under the New Covenant. He applies the Law using in his words the Progressive Moral Wisdom approach. His thesis seems to best fit the teachings of Jesus and the apostles as pertaining to the function of the Law in a New Covenant relationship. The Law is applied post theocratic Israel, post temple, in the light of Christ’s application of the Law and its process and function in modern life. Finally, many theologians have documented a great apostasy within the mainstream church as predicted by Paul. (2 Thes. 2). I do believe there was a purpose to the reformation. The true concept of salvation was for the most part lost by the church. The church had to rediscover salvation by grace alone. Also, Dr Bacchiocchi’s seminal work from Sabbath to Sunday demonstrated how various aspects of the Law were systematically removed from the New Covenant understanding within the church. Again, I don’t agree with everything the Hebrew roots brings to the table, but I do believe that mainstream Christianity has gotten drawn into a mindset that conforms more to the world than the Christ centered life Jesus wanted for us as we walk with Him. Blessings in the New Year.

Thanks, Viking! Gane's Progressive Moral Wisdom approach is very similar to my Principle & Expression Framework. (Which you can read about it in my book _Torahism._ It's also explained here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6LTlIlmdqyDhq8.) Both approaches argue that the principles given under the Old Covenant law persist, but we are not legally obligated to keep the commands as they were given to the ancient Israelites. Gane says the "OT laws reveal wise and enduring values and principles, even when certain laws do not directly apply to us today" (Old Testament Law for Christians, p. xiv). And he adds, "There must be indirect ways in which even laws that are not directly applicable to us are ‘profitable’ for guiding and equipping the people of God, filling gaps in our wisdom regarding how to live” (Ibid., p. 142). And I certainly agree! Blessings, Rob

First of all, I am not a Torahist. But I do have a problem with the "two thousand year history of Christianity" argument. It is the same argument that the Catholic Church uses to defend its many false doctrines, claiming that Protestant doctrine is only about 500 years old. So, do you include Catholic doctrine with its myriad errors in those 2000 years? Certainly yes, since it was the dominant religion until Luther came along. I would be interested to hear your answer. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Serifen! The great Christian thinkers I mentioned in this video include pre-Catholic, Catholic, and Protestant thinkers alike. And they all agree that the Mosaic law is not required for Christians. As I said in the video, "We have to admit that all these great thinkers were fallible human beings. As brilliant as they were, they were still capable of making mistakes, just like anybody else. And just because they all agree with each other on this issue doesn’t necessarily mean they were all right. And their writings certainly don’t rise to the level of inspired Scripture. But guess what? Modern Hebrew Roots teachers are just as fallible and just as capable of making mistakes and being wrong. And just because Torah-observant Christians all agree with each other on this issue doesn’t mean they’re right." Blessings, Rob

I’ve recently found much life spiritually in the Hebraic roots belief. I’ve heard other videos of yours and I feel you do make great points, every movement always produces extremist that tarnish the belief system; there are also different sects in the Torah observing community. However when you look at how many churches there are in America, especially the mega church movement (not including you) which is considered Mainstream Christianity, America has increasingly become more sinful. I feel this country needs and a better understanding of the commandments. There’s definitely a proper way to teach Gods law in a “new wineskin”.

I guess with the last theory I end up speaking about the history of the Judaizer movement in classical times talking about the Judaizers and Ebionites and compare them to what is going down today. One scriptural truth these Torahists forget is the Biblical principle of things being "In the mouth of two or three witnesses" and the Orthodox position is established aplenty by early witnesses ones that were mentored by the Apostles etc. Meanwhile, people teaching against this need to try to claim their own authority, and this violates other Biblical principles, the sheep are suppose to know the shepherd while these people are unknown, self-promoting etc. But on the positive side of things I do show the "Jewish roots" of Christianity in the Eucharist service, and show how that reflects both the temple and synagogue worship, as well as Passover etc.

The reasoning that we can’t be wrong for so long is very weak to me. In Jesus time the Pharisees were the mainstream religion and they were also wrong. Following the law is making your life point to Jesus as the law was pointing to Jesus. Jesus saved us from sin so we set ourselves apart as a testimony. The reason that since we already have Jesus so we don’t have our lives to point to Him (by living out Torah) is very selfish to me. And the whole permitted but not required sounds like this world, not at all the character of Jesus
@knowingyourmind20 күн бұрын
Another response to the "can't be wrong for so long" argument is that the error was already in existence at the first century. Yochanon wrote: "Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son." (I Jn. 2:18-22) If you ask an Xtian if they deny the Father and Son, they will, most assuredly say, "NO." The problem with this is that the word "deny" also means to CONTRADICT. Their tune changes when you ask them if they contradict the Father and Son. They deny / contradict the Messiah, who is the embodiment of the Torah. The Torah came from the Father. Now, getting to the meat of their opinion, we can see that a little error in the beginning results in greater errors later down the line. The "early church" was anti-Semitic due to the rule of Rome. That can be easily seen with just a bit of research. If we take Yochanon's thought about many "anti-christs," then we can understand that many errors were creeping in when he wrote his letters. Some errors were EGREGIOUS and easily recognized. Many were simply lies that flew under the radar, so to say, for a time. Aristotle wrote: "...a little error in the beginning leads to a great one in the end." (Imagine a graph with an arc, showing a slight deviation at the beginning, but over time the arc continues to grow.) Aristotle's phrase encapsulates the answer to the "can't be wrong for so long" argument. They (Xtians) are and have been wrong for millennia. Their error really took off with the early "church fathers," but that's another argument.

As a Messianic Torah Observant daughter in the faith, I respectfully disagree, and I'll share some words spoken by my personal favorite intellectual giant, that just so happens to also be my Messiah and King to come: Matthew 5:17-19 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or THE PROPHETS; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore, anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Mr. Solberg, you asked this, and I quote this verbatim: "If Torah-ism is true, how is it that modern Hebrew Roots teachers came to discover something that all these brilliant Christian thinkers and scholars and teachers have completely missed for nearly 20 centuries? How is that possible?" Well, I have a pretty good answer for you. It's found in the book of Psalms. Psalms 19:7 "The LAW of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple." The Law is perfect and converts your soul - not your brain - so you don't have to be smart to "get it" that's probably why the "brilliant Christian thinkers" that you speak could've have missed it because - what the Law does, is make wise the simple...so if you just so happen to find yourself smart - you might miss it. I'm just asking you to seriously think about these two verses: Are you teaching people that it is okay to transgress his Law? Is this acceptable before our Almighty God? Please consider this.

Hi, TAT! The NT expressly teaches that many of the commands given under the Old Covenant Law do not apply to Christians today. So if we want to put a classification of "law" on it, Christians follow the Law of Christ. Blessings, Rob

@@TheBiblicalRoots Thank You fellow readers for engaging in this discussion. Prayerfully the Spirit of wisdom directs this conversation, as well as you all's understanding. And Thank You Mr. Solberg for taking the time to cultivate a thoughtful response. When believers say they are following the Law of Christ as you put it, my understanding is that this Law you speak of is the same exact two-part message Jesus correlated in response to a Pharisee asking Him: "Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus responded (Matthew 22:36-40) these words: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." It is here where Jesus remarkably condensed the entirety of God's commandment into edible bite-sized chunks of accurate information, but if He had somehow meant that the first command is to love God and the second is to love our neighbor according to our own understanding of what love is, then I think you would agree that it would not be scripturally sound, for The Word says this: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding for in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 Since we know that it is best not to lean upon our own understanding, and it is best to submit all of our ways unto the father then we must read our Word in order to figure out How to Love the Father and Our Neighbor - properly. It is the Word of God that shows us exactly how to do just that. You cannot disagree, Mr. Solberg.

Christians aren’t required to keep Torah, only those in covenant are required to do so

It’s not an obligation. Think like a father and you’re telling your kids what to do. You tell one kid to take out the garbage and they enthusiastically do it run back in and give you a hug and kiss saying thank you for giving me a task that will please you. I love you, daddy. Then the other kid Says all man why do I have to do this? This is so dumb and quite reluctantly does it with much venom. It’s all in the attitude. God wants us to want to keep this command if we don’t want to want to keep it then we don’t. However, if that kid doesn’t take out the garbage eventually, the house will start to stink. The blessing here is a clean house. The curse here is a stinky house somewhere with a command of not putting your hand on a hot cold because you will be cursed by the pain, all is blessings and curses and God outwardly wants to give you all the blessings he can and it’s up to us to decide to take them.

Rob, they are not going to abandon their errors. They are committed, especially given the element of human pride. Works-based salvation hinges exclusively on human pride for efforts. Nobody likes admitting that they were so very wrong in their theology. The exhaustive and pathetic excuses they offer for their lack of a temple as the reason for their lack in obedience when they could have long ago constructed a tent tabernacle to continue the blood sacrifices as the Law demanded, they have no excuse for their hypocrisies. I'm not trying to be ungracious here, but there comes a time when the gauntlet must be cast down to show where the error lies. The discretization of Paul as a legitimate apostle is so very laughable, given Acts 15. They would have to build a case that the counsel of apostles was far too corrupt for them to have willingly given audience to Paul.

@ShiaDiscourse And where is that stated in scripture? I don't recall any command anywhere that the tent tabernacle was never to be revived again, other than it being David himself who quipped that it wasn't right in his own eyes that he dwell in a palace while the Lord's earthly presence be in a tent. What you're saying seems to make for a very convenient slight-of-hand excuse for justifying the hypocrisy of the Judaizers. 1 Chronicles 28:2 Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: [As for me], I [had] in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

I hear you! But I believe I am called to play the long game. As mother Theresa famously said "God has not called me to be successful; He has called me to be faithful." I am no Mother Theresa, to be sure! But I will continue to teach the Biblical truth (as best I can as a flawed and limited man), and keep praying for those caught up in spiritual slavery, and trust God with the results. Shalom! Rob

@ShiaDiscourse Whatever your name is, it is YOU who needs to learn history! David is the one who collected the majority of the building materials for that temple that Solomon built due to the blood on the hands of David from all his unauthorized killing sprees. It is DAVID who made the decision for that temple to be built. As an Israeli, I know good and well what the TRUTH of the matter is! I have grave doubts that your arm-chair scholarship will ever save face for you on this mix-up of yours!

While I do not believe Hebrew Roots theology, your claim that the early centuries of the church did not corrupt theology is absolutely false. I'm surprised you could get away with claiming that with a straight face. It is so easy to prove as well. Looks like not only do we have to be on guard for the Hebrew Roots heresy but also by your revisionism.

I'm the one by the way sent that video to your friend about mtoi you did a video Grace vs works debunked. How can I get him to listen?

HI Jackie! One thing I have learned over the last five years of engaging with folks who hold these beliefs is that there is not any one verse or argument that will snap them out of it. This doesn't mean we shouldn't respond, but it does mean we need to adjust our expectations. There is no passage that you or I could cite that would cause your brother to suddenly realize the error of their ways and admit their mistake. That’s because, at the end of the day, this is not really a theological problem. People who adopt a Torah-observant lifestyle (and are divisive about it) seem to do so as an issue of identity or a misguided psychological/emotional commitment of some sort. And I very much believe there is a spiritual aspect to it, as well. With some people, you can almost see a spirit of legalism overtake them. So when we are conversing with HRM, what I have learned to look for isn't an “aha” moment where they suddenly see the light but rather an abrupt change of topic. That is the telltale sign that we have presented them with a piece of information that they don't know what to do with either because (a.) they had never heard of it and/or considered it before, or (b.) they know it's a weak spot in their HRM theology. We have "jammed up their machine," so to speak. And because they aren't seeking the truth of Scripture with an open mind, but rather arguing to bolster a preconceived position, they will rarely stop to consider the new information we offer. Instead, they switch topics and continue on with their diatribe. It is extremely rare for these folks to stick with a single issue and discuss it back and forth until an understanding is reached. It is also rare for them to acknowledge any positions of nuance. Their thinking is very black and white, as you may have noticed! The good news is that presenting a strong biblical case to our friends and family does eventually add up over time, especially if it's shared in love and bathed in prayer. So my advice is to love them, pray for them, but hold your ground biblically. Don't let them guilt you about not eating kosher, not keeping the Saturday Sabbath, and so on. Our salvation and our righteousness are complete in Jesus! There is nothing we can do to add a thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Him. You also might find our video *Five tips for a biblical response to our Torah-keeping friends and family* (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIOulGlrrpmBgrc) helpful. Blessings, Rob
