@@bigdguitars would you suggest this if I wanted to do the back of a maple neck? I've got 2 coming that I think I want to darken up.. Like an ebony... Or a dark brown, roasted look. One has a maple fretboard... But I don't want to do the fretboard. Only the back of the neck. Can I tape off the sides of the fretboard and use this? The other has an ebony fretboard. But the 2 neck shafts are very light and I think I want them looking dark. ... Kind of like what you've got on the sides of this when you started. Will it wear off? What's good to put over it after the color, and keep it smooth? I want it pool cue smooth in the back, not glossy or shiny. But I don't want to lose the color. I'm not going to be gripping it like crazy.

I am a beginner and did my first two guitars, both were refurbishes, you can see one on reverb now, it is the natural finish, nitrocellulose CIJ telecaster, now completely Nitrocellulose, and the guitar is one of those ones that really have the sound. I am starting to set up a little shop, but it will take a few years. I have really liked watching your videos. I wish at some time when I start to make my own bodies to visit a shop like yours.

Hi Big D! I have been putting together Warmoth (finished) bodies and necks for several years. but have not ventured into the staining and finishing side of it until just now. I got a lot of satisfaction out of the construction of the guitar and exploring the options of different pickups, potentiometers, tone capacitors, guitar setup, etc. I have been watching your videos and you have given me the confidence to give finishing a shot. Your videos are AWESOME! You take your time and explain all of the salient points of what you are doing so well that it really hits home. You should have followed teaching as a profession because you are gifted. I picked up a nice unfinished flame maple body on eBay and i am building it for my grandson. Thus far, I have the body completely stained and ready to finish. Please help me out on the application process of the sanding sealer. I see that you use spray on. I purchased a Minwax brush on product. If you are familiar with that product, how many coats do you apply, and do you sand between coats? How can I control the thickness of the coats as you did with the spray on product? I also got the Minwax fast drying Polyurethane. How long do you wait after the sanding sealer until applying the Polyurethane? Any clarification you can provide on this part of the process would be much appreciated! Thanks for any advice you can pass on! You do Rock! Dan

When I made my first guitar, this is the color I wanted. Unfortunately I screwed up and bought analine dyes and mixed them myself. I ended up with blue and red blotches. Not cool. I should have stopped and bought purple at that point. Instead I just did blue. The yellow of the maple meant I ended up with an aqua guitar. It is nice, but this is just gorgeous.
