We live in Delaware.. a few years ago a little Delaware grey tree frog made the very long journey from the river behind our house to our front flower bed. If I went outside he would come out and sit on the step with me…we had many profound conversations. When hubby cut the grass the frog would sit on top of the bricks edging the bed and watch…I do mean watch…froggy would turn back and forth as Kacz changed directions. He was a real joy. One day he disappeared. I like to think he made the long journey back to river…such a little guy…and participated in the production of many tadpoles. Realistically, he may have been dinner for something, but I prefer to believe he’s still out there in a tree singing to his lady love.

Wow, you just introduced two different subjects that one doesn’t hear about every day: terrariums for Gray or Green Tree Frogs, and Resurrection Fern! There are loud, cute and apparently prolific Gray Tree Frogs around our farmhouse, on the heels of weekly summer storms, so I am presently planning to create a transition habitat for their tadpoles discovered in a water feature container. It brings back great childhood memories of raising tadpoles in little habitats with water, rocks, moss, plants, within my mom’s glass baking dishes. Thanks, from The Piedmont of North Carolina. p. s. Now I am really on the lookout for Resurrection Moss, such a cool plant, that we once had in an old tree at our coastal N. C. house, transplanted from a family cemetery in Kingstree, S. C.

Hello, I am a Pennsylvania herping channel and I heard you say that you were from PA. I was happy to hear that. My channel focuses on the frogs and toads specifically from PA and when you had gray tree frog in the title it caught my eye. On my channel I go herping and showcase my pets who are ambassadors for their species. I am pursuing a herpetology degree to research frogs and toads, and one of the frogs I want to study is the eastern gray tree frog. I was very impressed with the knowledge you have of the native tree frogs and that looks to be a good setup for at least one tree frog. I must say that more of the information and the setup would accommodate a green tree frog more so than the gray. Grays at least from the Northeast hide in the cracks of trees away from the heat so the temperature above 80-82 in captivity could be harmful. I say this only about the gray not the green because the gray tree frogs native range ends in Virginia and it is a more cold hardy frog rather than heat tolerant. I believe you are very knowledgeable and I am subscribed to you because you are very great at what you do. As I said maybe you have seen grays on leaves in other places but where I have found them I haven't seen them on the leaves. My grays (4) are soon to hibernate and then will live in a 125 gallon that's bioactive. I only keep native or naturalized plants for my native species, but you have some great ideas for a setup and placement for an enclosure. I also wanted to say the Giant North American Millipede will be the major component of my clean up crew as opposed to isopods. Just thought you would find that interesting. Anyways, great job on the video and I can't wait to see what you show us next. Congratulations on your business!

I breed white lip green tree frogs here in tropical far north Australia. We just keep them in green houses out on the back patio as its warm all year round. No need for heating. Interesting to see all the things going in. We just out in some lava rocks as the base, home grown compost above then some sugar cane mulch. Then finally tropical plants like caladiums, cordalynes etc. with drift wood. Last breeding cycle with 1 female got 800 plus tadpoles.

I have been working/w a ten G tank for a little over a year. The purpose is to learn how to grow a few plants. Several months ago I added a few native isopods to it. I can no longer keep any plants alive because they have over populated and are eating everything in sight. Soon baby toads will be available so this should be solved then. Actually it really won't be solved till I move to the larger tank which I have. Using aquariums is awkward. If I place it up higher than a normal aquarium stand makes them so that you can view them better then it is difficult to reach the bottom of the tank without using something to stand on. But just a word of warning about the isopods eating plants if you don't have a predator in the tank to keep their population in check.

Do I need both isopods and springtails for my frog terrarium or can start off with just isopods?
@plumtucker95143 жыл бұрын
isopods mostly go after dead leafs, rotting bark, and lichens. I believe springtails are for the mold, discarded food (if feeding fruits) and rotting matter. it is possible to go just isopods, but having both is just helpful for the whole cycle.
