@@thebkpets Thank you. We need more of this. I've been asking for it and finally! It's my thought is we had more budget friendly videos like this More people can get their animals involved in better nutrition. If options were more budget minded I think I think a lot of folks would start looking at healthier options. This video is a huge step in the right direction If you look on youtube not many folks are teaching healthier options on a budget. Not to many anyways. I have a GSD with hip dysplasia and a Siberian with pancreatitus. The pancreatitus came from my dog baby sitter was feeding him hamburger and adding 2 or 3 tablespoons of grease to his food. No matter how much a insisted they stop they wouldn't. Damn near killed my dog. Meds for both of these dogs are very expensive. Hundreds a month. I'm convinced a better diet would work wonders. Neither get grease any more and both on a diet low fat dog food. But I know there is better cheaper somewhere. But thank you for this Bryce. I've been waiting on this very video but will welcome many more.

Thank you! I put my molds on a cookie sheet. Then I put a piece of parchment paper on top and layer another mold. You can add up to four molds if you have room in your freezer. I also have an upright so it’s a little easier to layer the molds. Another good way to store is in glass spice bottles. Ends up being about 2 servings per bottle for a large dog and 4 servings for small dogs.

I bought raw feeding bones and duck feet (one of my dogs is allergic to chicken) to make bone broth and it was relatively inexpensive. I make up several batches of different flavours, so they get a variety of different tastes and benefits. The first bone broth i made for my dogs I put outside to cool down, i have no idea how my Bichon Frise got onto the table, he's hardly the most agile dog, but he knocked it over and drank the whole lot! I think it's safe to say he enjoys it! And, another person here asking how Cooper is doing.

Thanks, great recipe but I have not found inexpensive bones anywhere I live. Amazing considering I remember when bones from the butcher were free. I noticed you are using a black plastic utensil if so throw it out. It has been found that black plastic is highly carcinogenic especially when using heat. Even if it is BPA free.

I used to make bone broth for both my Dobermanns, they used to hang about in the kitchen whining until it was ready. I always added nettles to the broth at the end whilst cooking as nettles are very good for our dogs, I would take the solid nettles out afterwards, they turned the bone broth green but the dogs loved it I used to hate the smell (being Vegan) but used to make it for my girls as it was so good for them.

Other bone broth videos I’ve watched recommend not using a crock pot because cooking that long will create histamines. They recommend using an instant pot for faster cooking, less histamines. What are your thoughts on that? Thank you!

Is it OK for old cats too? My cat he caught diabetes and I make him bone broth chicken jello (it just turns into jello in the refrigerator, I don't put jello in it) all the time but now I wonder if maybe it gives him more calcium and potassium and not sure about where phosphates come from, but does that leech into the broth from the bones and get into his kidneys? I don't want him to catch kidney disease too because he's old and now I give him very low carbohydrates food ever since his doctor told me he caught diabetes. He has high protein by default but most of the low carbohydrates canned food from the doctor's list has high phosphates.

Interesting. Like any cooked bone, e.g. ribs or steak bones, chicken, etc?
@nikki199117Ай бұрын
do you include the bone marrow?
@ethanletzer3507Ай бұрын
If you cook it long enough the marrow should dissolve and any of the solids you'll strain out. You don't actually have to strain out anything but the bones. You get a lot of extra nutrition but it does mean the bone broth won't last as long. The solids make it go rancid faster so it's all about what you're looking for. If you're the type that freezes it it'll last forever
@thebkpetsАй бұрын
We sort of squeeze it through the strainer to get some of the juices out ☺️ You can also freeze it and use it as a kibble topper!
