I love how you mentioned Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I feel as if it was overlooked this year because of the initial bugs and heavy competition but this game landed in my top spot due to its intriguing story and the way Respawn just stole the bag by making this game feel completely new and refreshing in comparison to its predecessor. Makes me excited for the 3rd installation but nervous at the same time because I don’t know how they can stack more onto this 😂

I do have to say I fully agree with the choice of having Jedi survivor higher than Spider-Man 2. I feel like if it wasn’t for all the early issues with the games performance it would have been nominated for game of the year in my opinion. I also feel like Spider-Man 2 while it was a decent game it got in the ballot more out of recency bias because I loved survivor more than that.

I supported BG3 when it was announced on Early Access I have around 300+ hours inro rhe thing, and I have rarely felt the LOVE that this game has for its players, it wans you to explore and expiriment, its funny, and tics every box of a good game, great choice.

I liked starfield...It was my favorite game for 2023 as far as the games that came out...I've never played a game like that. It introduced me to a different type of rpg...Another thing about me is i actually try to play gamee to the maximum. I realized alot of people have adhd & cant sitsown & enjoy a game, especially people who do reviews b/c they have to put out reviews as quick as possible. I like doin side missions & collecting things. Alot of people just rush through the main story...Now if i just went off the main story, then i would agree with people who didn't like it. The main story wasn't good to me. Im not the type who likes randomly running around. People dont realize the side missions take u to places where u can see places that u wouldn't see any other tim3. I found multiple towns doing activities. I found a prison rehabilitation center where i had to help some of the workers there & the construction workers were actually working on the building so i do need to go back & see the progress...The game was so dope to me b/c i explored damn near everything the game had to offer. All the factions, all the powers, ship building, worked hard to max out weapon engineering, piloting, outpost engineering, decorated 2 of my penthouses, when shopping, bounty hunting, debt collecting, etc.

Lies of P was soooo good. I gotta say though that game was parry first combat over dodge/roll from chapter 1. If you played it dodge heavy the entire way those fights had to have taken forever. Perfect blocks were extremely incentivized

Remnant 2 falls into the category of switching things up on the final boss too. Through the whole game I could beat every boss on the first try. I didn't always succeed but it was possible and fair. On the final boss it turned into super hard mode trial and error luck... And i have taken a break. Still haven't beaten it...i still have it in my top 3 games of the year though

I thought one of the main advantages of being on console was that old 'code straight to metal' ... and as I was writing this I looked it up to make sure I was getting the phrase right, and apparently newer gen consoles have done away with that.

so, i couldn't disagree more with both spiderman and totk. spiderman 2 i think is a fantastic sequel. it took what the first two games did well and put it into a nice package with a new story and missions to play. it didn't need to be a total change for it to be a good sequel. i had a blast and same with totk. i thought the world was just as great and the mechanics were evolved from the original. gave us so many options with gameplay with the fuse mechanic, being able to fuse any weapon and shield with almost anything and same with arrows. and zonai equiptment making the player explore hyrule again, different. i do wish they will go back to a linear style of story telling though since the "go anywhere" style hurts the story telling. it was better here than it was in botw but the most exciting parts was before and after the 4 main temples as far as story goes. but in general it was a fantastic game that i think did EVERYTHING better than botw.

And Half-assed might be harsh because I know plenty of people put their blood sweat and into these games, even the bad ones, it’s more of a greedy publisher issue tbh, but it’s also very insulting when people like Todd Howard lie straight to our faces, time and time again about these products. I just want the standard for gaming to be raised across the board. There’s still plenty of great games coming out but the amount of times we’ve been burned is unacceptable.
