11:41 You are somewhat correct here. Nolan North, the voice actor Desmond Miles even said that the original plan was to end after AC3. Desmond would gain the skills and abilities of Altair, Ezio & Connor, and become pretty much an ultimate assassin, and then time travel back and forth. EVEN escaping Earth on a spaceship with Lucy Stillman to start a new human civilization elsewhere.. Yes you read that correctly.

Great video but I see that you don't really understand why people are annoyed by the inclusion of Yasuke. It's not about race, it's about the constant insertion of 'THE MESSAGE' and people are pretty much sick of it.
@Aureo-nt1gy3 ай бұрын
But just because Yasuke is included that doesn’t automatically mean there’s a message
@SaigonBrit3 ай бұрын
@@Aureo-nt1gy I would love to agree with you but all the evidence of the past 10 years suggests that it will come with a 'message'. I mean, they could have had a black character set in a superb semi-fictional Great Zimbabwe, in South America or indeed in North America but instead they try to shoe-horn in a historically very debatable figure into Feudal Japan resulting in an African character slaughtering Japanese natives. If they truly respect Japanese culture and also they respect racial diversity then it should be done in an appropriate and respectful setting. I hope I am wrong, I hope Yasuke and his story are totally non-woke and just an excellent game but based on recent experience Ubisoft will find a way to make it all about race, victimhood and how awful Asian and white men are. Hope I am wrong.
@oceano873 ай бұрын
Is THE MESSAGE in the room with us right now?
@donutdemon13 ай бұрын
I agree, and while the video was great, I feel Hokage dismissed too much of the controversy, especially from the Japanese criticism. There have been Japanese politicians threatening to block the game from being sold in the country due to cultural insults. People are frustrated because for the entire series, you play as someone from that region e.g. in AC3 you play as a half native American and British man, AC Unity you are a Frenchman in Paris. But now they have thrown all of that out of the window and choose to play as a real person who has extremely dubious credentials whose entire persona has been developed by one person who has deleted all socials since this kicked off. The controversy would be the same if they decided that we should play a blonde white man in Feudal Japan or a Chinese woman in the Belgian Congo... If it were about race then people would have complained about playing as a black man in AC origins, but no one did because that made sense and it was a great game.

Why you gotta make it about race, this is not a race issue as a black man even I let out a sigh when I saw yasuke as our protagonist because I could tell it was clear pandering. Unlike previous black protagonists in assassins creed games yasuke makes little sense as they knew for a fact that Japan the land of which the game is based in does not acknowledge his existence as a samurai but they went and did it anyway. Plus it just doesn't really make sense why push diversity when you game is based on Japan in the sengoku period there weren't exactly alot of races ethnicities running around in Japan other than Japanese people at that time. Yasuke feels forced unlike Adewale from black flags dlc who made sense because the game takes place in the carribean and aveline from AC liberation which takes place in 18th-century French Louisiana which did have integration of black people in France

Ubisoft replaced the original japanese protagonist with Yasuke after they saw the support for BLM. Also, with how important the history and culture for japanese people are, do you understand how they would feel to see a game set in feudal Japan with a giant black man slaughtering the locals? I see Chinese people making fun online about western culture war, SJWs and diversity policies regularly and I can imagine that it's similar in other asian countries - to insult them and a part of their history they are proud of doesn't seem like a great idea to me.
