Spent hours trying to figure out why my wheel didnt feel right. After listening to your tuning. Finally came the realization that the wheel was pulling me to the side I was trying to turn. And it didnt feel natural. Finally I had the idea to invert the FFB. And now the wheel resists the direction im trying to turn like a real car. So now it doesnt feel so fake. If anyone is having the issue i was having that the wheel wants to pull you away from center. Its probably because your FFB needs to be inverted. Im using a g923.

@luckydrifts48714 жыл бұрын
Hey man great video but I have a few questions. 1. Are you using this wheel tune with cars that are highly tuned. It seems the more I tune the cars the more force it takes to turn the wheel. 2. Do you use this wheel tune for all your cars you drift? 3. My wheel seems to not be super smooth transitioning almost jumpy. It also shakes pretty good if I let go going straight. 4. Is there any way to make it not so hard to physically turn and still counter steer wheel? My actual 240 doesn’t take near this force to sling around. Sincerely, a dude struggling after a life of controller drifting lol.
@TheBlue0284 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, but as I said the higher the level of grip the car has the higher the steering toque it can produce, so you will need to check the telemetry and adjust the align torque scale to suit. 2. Pretty much 3. One thing I forgot to mension in the video is that the higher level of tyre compound the smaller the peak slip angle is which means the ffb will spike much faster making the wheel more unstable. If you want stable ffb I recomend using stock tyre compound. 4. Unfortunately not, with FFB wheels speed is proportional to torque, if you want it to be fast it will also be strong. Only way to change that is to modify the hardware itself by either changing the gear ratio or using motors that spin at a higher RPM

Question: If you tune aligning forces to utilize the full range of force feedback without clipping using a Nissan 370Z - won't that mean that force feedback will be clipping when you jump into a higher performance car with much more grip? Or am I understanding that wrong?
@TheBlue0283 жыл бұрын
That is right, pretty sure I mention that in the video at one point as well. That's why it's important to use a car that fits in the category you drive most, but you can also tun the overall ffb level per car with the car specific ffb option available in test drive
@Canadavid3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBlue028Thanks. So for tuning for accurate steering feel across many cars based on physics it makes sense to follow your procedure maximizing ffb to clipping level in a car that has very high steering forces (i.e. Renault Indy car}, then other cars will feel comparatively accurate to one another. Great video and procedure.

I just dont like that the brake physics change on the wheel! on controller you can trail brake or just brake into a corner! On wheel it feeks as tho the brake bias is heavy to rhe rear causing the back end to constantly wash out
@TheBlue028 Жыл бұрын
The physics don't change, the friction based input filter on the controller doesn't just limit the input based on the front tyre friction, it also accounts for the rear tyre friction as well. So the filter nearly perfectly holds the cars on slip angle, which is why controllers are so fast, on a wheel you have to do it 100% manually which is very difficult

@SongDesire4 жыл бұрын
Me and Dust went over this with you time and tme again in the past in the past Blue, dont go by the visual animation to make your assumptions, as the animations are abitrary to the actual physics. The physics themselves are not delayed, just the animation of the steering wheel and the car wheels. Even T10 have confirmed to you in the past that what you see on the screen in regards to the animations has no effect on the physics. You had extensive PM's with a T10 staffer over this exact thing also.
@TheBlue0284 жыл бұрын
I never said the physics where delayed, the input/ffb is delayed because the game holds too many frames for buffering (or something akin, pre rendered frames whatever terminology you want to use) since input and FFB are updated at the current frame there is high latency in the input/output. It has been stated in a technical interview that the xbox series x is going to tackle the issue of latency because of forza motorsport. I beleive they quoted input latency on average on current systems is ~100ms which is very high for a simulator

@@TheBlue028 @TheBlue028 the latency in the force feedback was fixed though Blue, you was right on that one, and because you highlighted it T10 resolved it. With regards to the series x, that is just trying to combat normal input latency which all gaming consoles and pc's suffer with when transfering input from the controller to the software to the screen. It doesnt matter if you are using a high end gaming mouse, a game pad, a keyboard, or a racing wheel. They all have very similar levels of input latency when going from input to screen. That is what Microsoft are trying to tackle. I am already up to date on that information, as I have been following news about the Series X closely. In regards to how you open this video though, you instantly go onto a visual input delay, and you specifically focused on the in game steering wheel animation. You know that animation wrong, you have had at least 2 seperate T10 devs that deal with FFB and wheels tell you that the animation has no bearing on the inputs made on the steering wheel. And that the cars front wheels also have no bearing on what you do on your steering wheel, because they are just animations. And yet, here you are again throwing out misinformation that the games input is delayed (above normal) while using that god damn animation as your focus point yet again. Look, Blue. You do great things to help out the forza community, and I applaued you for still been able to do so after all this time. I gave up because people dont want to listen, and I also got fed up of waiting around for T10 to fix the issues with the game. But you have to stop going back to the old things that you know have no bearing on the actual driving or physics or your inputs. That animation has always been laggy, even on the original Xbox with FM1. The animation lag of the steering wheel has only got worse over time as they made it more compicated. But that animation has no bearing on anything to do with how much you turn, how fast you turn, or how fast the FFB sends you feedback. How many times do you need to be told this by me, Dust, and even T10 developers?
@TheBlue0284 жыл бұрын
@@SongDesire well there is a way to test that now, if I get an app that used data out that displays the current input the game is receiving as that is a parameter in the data out, I can pretty much guarantee you it would have the same latency. The animation is directly linked to the steering input, it's not physically accurate because it doesn't follow the full range of input or be truly linear with the input that it does match. FWIW devs have only said that the animation doest match and is not representative of the actual input, but that's not to say they are totally disconected, and I have never had PMs with devs regarding the latency or animation, I had PMs regarding simulation steering which has now been cleared up, yet I still see people saying that sim is broken.
@budthecyborg45754 жыл бұрын
Turn 10 still needs to make a "RAW Input" mode, with absolutely zero controller input filtering. Something is still going wrong with the way wheels handle and my best bet is there's still some residual effects from the base gamepad input code.

@@RetroGamerr1991 It's not that uncommon. There's endless debates and apps for PC sims for setting up FFB. That being said, Forza's FFB out the box is pretty crap. I've been playing Gran Turismo 4 and Enthusia on an emulator with my wheel, and Enthusia is shockingly good. GT4 is fine, not amazing.
