Thank you for the clear instructions. I like the thick fluffy stitches. Im just wondering here how to tell it will be round 1 or round 2 if lose track between?

Lisa if the purl stitches facing you look like they have two loops on them, you just did the purl below row. If the double loops are on the back of your knit stitches, you just did a knit below row.

I have been a knitter all my live but never learned how to knit fisherman's stitches in the round for a cap. I can knit scarves in the fisherman's but still have difficulty getting the pattern in the round. Will have to watch over and over. I am 82.

Interesting… I’ve always wondered what was different about a fisherman’s rib than a regular rib…TY!

Should the first knitted row after casting on start with knit and end with knit?? I’m so confused on how this keeps happening to me

I am fascinated by how you do your purl stitches. I generally purl using the Portuguese style (or English style), but this is another way to purl. I would love to see this in a demo.
@TheBlueMouseKnits2 жыл бұрын
I used to purl a little strangely actually (when I made this video), recently I've changed over to a much more streamlined way of purling, but go back to this old way when making videos because it keeps my fingers out of the way when demonstrating. I have a video on how I purl actually if you wanted to see a demo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5TKcqiBnbKLgJo&ab_channel=TheBlueMouseKnits Thanks!

Love this ❤️ Question: I’m working on a sweater that is using fisherman’s rib, and there is a part where I split it and start knitting flat for front and back. My question is if the K1 k1b will work for both sides to make it uniform with what I knit before in the round? I watched your video for fisherman’s rib knit flat, and was just curious if that would work together for a sweater.

Hello there, I used this rib stitch on my top down sweater but the end result is a VERY slanted rib, what did I do wrong? Thanks for your help.

fab teaching, suggest next time yo show a length of the accomplished stitch so we can see if we find it suitable for what we are working on ... I went to other teachers to have a look at the product, looking for a sock cuff variation or rib ... very clear, thanx lovely hands and rings too!

What do you do about the first stitch of each round? It looks a little different than all the other stitches. Is there a way to fix this? Does anyone know what I mean? It’s just not as neat looking.
@TheBlueMouseKnits3 жыл бұрын
Hi, you're definitely not alone. The first and last stitch of a row always look a little untidy. It's sometimes called the selvage edge of a project. There are ways to tidy it up, you can do a slip stitch selvage edge, an icord edge and a few more options. Just google selvage edge or how to tidy a knit edge and a lot of options will pop up.

@@TheBlueMouseKnits oh I’m sorry, I meant when knitting in the round
@laceandbits Жыл бұрын
@@PuraVida5446 You did say quite clearly 'each round' ☺ Logically it would make sense that it looks different at that point as you have the last P1B of the round immediately followed by the first K1B of the next round. On the following row, the last stitch is a normal purl immediately followed by a normal knit. But I have just started working in the round for a fold-back hat brim over normal rib further up and there isn't any very obvious difference at the start/end of the round. What wasn't said was that you need to knit this rib with smaller needles than are usual for the yarn (because of all the loose 'dropped' stitches), and perhaps if your knitting was too loose, this made the transition more obvious. I also made sure to snuggle the stitches at that point. I cast on (DK yarn) with 4mm needles, did the k1, p1 rib row on 3.75,, and the Fisherman's rib on 3.5mm and it looks good. Once I have finished 3" or 4" for the fold back I will switch back to 4mm needles to knit some ordinary rib and the rest of the hat. Probably way too late to be of any help for you!

Excellent! Very clear, well demonstrated. The plethora of rings can be a little distracting. And I suggest a yarn color that's a little more easy to see (less flecked and fuzzy). But these are trivial -- this video is very well done! I'm subscribing to your channel.

Where would you suggest using the Fisherman’s Rib Stitch?
@TheBlueMouseKnits3 жыл бұрын
I think it looks lovely in a scarf, cardigan or hat :)
@ooohlaa135 жыл бұрын
There are so many variations, but you do not show a length of this rib to look at to see if its what I want because pretty unforgiving if you forget to go in the row below. Would like to see what it looks like, did I miss it?
