When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
________________________________________________________________________________
David has been featured and sourced for articles in Time Magazine, The Boston Globe, The Courier Times, USA Today, Star Magazine, MM&M, The Exchange, The Guardian, The New York Times, Bond on Bond, American Media Inc., AP Wire and online social media outlets. David has been a speaker at Johns Hopkin, Hofstra University, Columbia as a Bond Experience expert. His collection represents one of the most complete example of Bond lifestyle items. Invited to cover Tom Ford, Omega, Heineken, Coke, Orlebar Brown, NPeal, Floris, Lock & Co., Sunspel, Turnbull & Asser, and a multitude of location partnership events, David has represented social media experiences for many years. In addition David has provided props and decor for Johns Hopkin Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace Premieres as well as the Devereaux Foundation 007 Fundraiser. Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

The personal favourite watch I own is the watch that Sean Connery wore in his introductory scene in Les Ambassadeurs in Dr. No. The watch itself was a Gruen Precision cal. 510, presumably from Connery's own collection. The watch itself did pop up in a lot of Connery's other films, onscreen like in YOLT when he cracks the safe and also both onscreen and offscreen in Goldfinger when he tracks Goldfinger into the Alps. It's a watch that is beautiful yet simple and something that I will never sell.

The watch that Sean Connery is wearing the first time he says "Bond, James Bond" on screen is a Gruen Precision 510. It was Connery's own watch. The scene takes place in the casino in "Dr. No".

My first Bond watch was the Planet Ocean on the Black Rubber Strap. I got it the year before I got married which was lucky because I don't think I would have gotten it if I had a wife :-) I wore it everywhere. The Spectre Seamaster knocked me over so I had to have it...and since my income had increased...I did get it...Cut to last year and I bit the bullet and got the newest watch. It is so beautiful and I look forward to wearing it to the new film and wearing it out as we all begin to socialize again. Good topic...good video. Lorenzo has my favorite Instagram page. David has my favorite KZbin channel.

Lorenzo is living the dream! I'm impressed with his dedication to buy both both versions of the Aqua Terra. This might be a spoiler for NTTD, but it is in regards to watches only... But there are set photos of Bond wearing an Aqua Terra in Matera with his sloop suit. It might be the Spectre Aqua Terra, so maybe Lorenzo won't have to buy another lol. I like that because it helps establish continuity as well. Also my guess as to how he acquires the Diver 300M is when he returns to London, it is given to him to aid with whatever he is doing in the rest of the movie. Still it will be interesting as to how they fit the NTTD Diver 300M in the lore.

Lorenzo got me in touch last week with "his people" at his local boutique who special ordered me an item that I was told at 3 other boutiques couldn't be special ordered. So he is MY hero and has helped me reach a 3 year old "Bond wish". I know he used his clout and purchase history to get done what I couldn't. It will be on my wrist all summer until the new movie is released when I switch to wearing the new (geez now 2 years old) NTTD Seamaster all the time. He is a gentleman and a great friend to other Bond and Omega fans!

I'm not in a tax bracket where I can spend what it takes for an Omega or Rolex but that hasn't stopped me. I have become a mini expert in finding "frugal Bond" watches that are very good quality watches in there own right but also evoke the same aesthetic and feel that some of these watches have. For the GoldenEye Omega I found the Certina DS Action Diver. Similar look but an actual ISO rated diver that scuba divers love for under $700. For the Connery's Rolex, Steinhart makes a version called the Vintage Ocean One with the Steinhart quality but it's not a $1M. For the Omega 300 from Spectre, either the Orient Kano or the Glycine Combat Sub is an excellent alternative. I have a few more and all of my watches don't add up to 1 Omega, maybe they do, but they are all respectable automatics mostly Swiss made and all popular with scuba divers and watch enthusiast. Your buddy TGV was a helpful source in finding out about these watches. What you think about this having these frugal Bond watches?

@@omegabondwatches Thanks, I amassed a modest collection of Divers and racing chronographs. If I sold them all I could afford an Omega or 2 but I had so much fun researching all the other so called "entry level" watches that I'm not sure now I would trade that experience for owning 1 or 2 really good Omegas... But maybe I would, I go back and forth. Anyway great talk and great information.

Hamilton reissued the Pulsar in 2020. Except instead of “Pulsar” it says Hamilton because Seiko bought the Pulsar trademark from Hamilton in 1979. It was only the 2nd mass-produced quartz watch ever (Seiko released the Astron a few months earlier in on Christmas Day 1969). These watches ushered in the quartz watch era that decimated the mechanical watch industry.

A bit late to the party, i have the 40th Anniversary and like you David have the Casino Royale on the rubber, stunning watch and as you say it's massive, have decided to get the NTTD watch, got to admit was in 2 minds, but after this video going to go for it. But they are not holding their price, I can get one for £1300 British pounds cheaper, around $1800, but have a feeling that once the film is out, it will shoot up in price. I mean it's been on sale for nearly 2 years and the 2021 version is different to the film version, as the bracelet has been changed a bit I think as it broke on some models if you changed it over to much to the NATO. But why do you think that with this watch they never made it a Limited Edition ?

My first “nice” watch was a Seamaster 300M Professional Diver automatic (Brosnan’s watch) that I picked up in 2001 after I saw a co-worker wearing one. I’ve noticed that Joe Biden also wears one and so does Prince Charles lol. Later versions lost the wavy lines on the dial and went to solid blue. Them they returned to the wavy lines but they look more conspicuous. The original is the best IMO.

We need to acknowledge that one's personal style, aura and behavior are crucial to how an accessory/cloth is worn and presented; Consider that Moore is wearing the 0674 in the whole Mujaba club / Pyramid site / Desert / Sail boat sequence, while wearing a tux and black tie; who else could walk, talk, act in such style that this ridiculous combination of attire would "pass" almost unnoticed? Moore might had flaws, but I can think of no other actor/person who could have pulled that one off; it's his class and finesse that actually make a Seiko digital watch go black tie formal.

I think some of the watches shown in the movies are a cool time capsule of the technology at the time, especially the digital watch worn by Roger Moore in the beginning of Live and Let Die. I’ll admit I wouldn’t mind having a nice Omega for going out, but have more pressing financial obligations and goals. That said, there are many watches out there for far less money that keep better time and don’t need servicing, watch winders, battery changes, and subject to falling out of fashion. An overpriced luxury watch just makes someone look like a well-to-do geezer. I don’t want to spend a lot on something that makes me look old, ha…. The only trendy watch to wear out there seems to be something like the Apple Watch. Younger generations don’t even fancy watches anymore unless it’s wearable tech. Increased sales of wearable tech and the decline in Swiss watch sales support this. I think fancy watches will be here for a while, but may have seen their peak🤔.

Your point It's interesting : I've read(?) that gen-z caveats authenticy so watches ( esp. smaller) will still be around in some form.. Then again, one looks at some items & their market is literally dying . So, I'm going to invest in Baby-Gs.

Well they definitely aren’t for everyone and that’s absolutely okay. I understand your perspective, however the Swiss watch market has been around for generations and sales haven’t decreased if anything the lesser brands have not survived and the stronger brands have evolved. Omega has continued to raise the bar in production quality and innovation.

Great show thanks. George Lazenby wore 2 watches in OHMSS. The Rolex Chronograph and the Rolex Submariner 5513, it is the 5513 which he takes off and puts on the table when cracking the safe. The 5513 is in fact used in OHMSS, Live and Let Die (the magnetic shield/buzzsaw), and Man With The Golden Gun. Although not worn by Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylight, I’ve read that it was worn by his stunt double and was recently sold at auction.

Craig's watches have generally been very underwhelming. The latest model on display for NTTD is incredibly tacky looking. Omega need to get their act together, as they would have been long gone as a brand had GE not made the Seamaster so popular and they arguably haven't really topped that watch in the 26 years since.

I have to completely disagree. Craig’s watches have been a masterclass in refined strength and design. As mentioned by Lorenzo in the video, these pieces exude style, are technologically advanced, and over-engineered. To say the most recent NTTD Seamaster is tacky is a silly comment. Sure it may not be for everyone, that’s ok, you don’t have to own it. But this timepiece was designed to celebrate the original Omega Seamasters that were in fact issued to the British military during WWII. These early aviators and naval “frogmen” strapped these pieces on their wrists and took them into battle. They relied on their accuracy and performance as a tool for their trade. Omega provided the British Military with over 110,000 watches for use during the war. So although it is not a direct reproduction of those original timepieces, it is certainly inspired by them. The NTTD watch is understated, robust, and now fitted with an anti-magnetic movement (over 15,000 Gauss)-something even Rolex cannot match. It is the perfect timepiece for the modern spy. Period.

@@schmidt2697 Fair enough, won't argue against someone who likes it. But it looks awful and more than a little cheap to me. It doesn't really matter to me what its origin story is. I only judge it on the merits of whether I would have it on my wrist or not, and I'd take a lot of the previous Seamasters every single time. I don't think there's anything silly about that, personally!

The only true Bond watch is of course Rolex....In my 64 years Ive collected 13 models.....My fav are Subs, GMT, Daytona and Datejust. I have no Milgauss r YM models....the ones I wear the most are 40mm ceramic sub, Pepsi and Coke GMT's....TT Daytona blue face, and simple TT white face 36 mm DJ. I dont like the huge over 40mm watches.....IMHO they look like an alarm clock some rapper would wear tied on his wrist, My only Omega Is the moon watch made in 78. Living in the Dallas sub I carry a gun(s) always with 20k or more on your wrist you have to....sometime i carry the PPK 380 but being a blow back small pistol....I dont carry it much....now that glock has a 380 I carry it in a should holster along with 2 extra mags....or a Colt .38 Diamondback 2.5 inch with Winchester silvertips....in the glock just 95 gr round nose. For really extra protection I carry a Ruger LCP 380 in a Ankle holster if im wearing long pants which is a few times a year since I retired a few years back when my wife died. I dont drive expensive cars.....2020 Jeep GC and for my toy a 08 Bullitt Mustang. I could a Ferrari if i wanted to but now that im old i dont like to attract attention on myself.

THE ORIGINAL JAMES BOND WRISTWATCH: A) The Rolex Submariner was introduced in 1953 and it was the first true diver's watch that surerceeded the depth rate of 100 meters (The Blancpain FF which was introduced the same year had a depth rate of only 91 meters). The Omega Seamaster diver was introduced 4 years later, in 1957! B) The Rolex Submariner ref. 6538/A and the following ref. 5512 were chosen by Britain's MOD (Ministry of Defence) as the official watches for naval officers, SEALS and Special Forces (SAS and SBS) during the period 1956 - 1967. In 1967, MOD attempted to replace Rolex with the Omega Seamaster ref. 165.024. But due to problems with Omega's "naiad crown" which was leaking in shalow waters, in 1971 MOD made again the Rolex Submariner ref. 5513/5517 it's official military watch. C) Ian Fleming, wrote in his novels that James Bond wears "a heavy Rolex Oyster Perpetual on an expanding metal bracelet”. He knew that this was the correct choise for a naval officer. D) The Rolex Submariner is immortalized in the first Bond movies as the original and most iconic James Bond's wristwatch. In conclusion: The Rolex Submariner is historically more accurate than the Omega Seamaster as the wristwatch of James Bond, because it has a) reacher history, b) better naval - military connection, c) connection with the literal Bond of the Fleming novels d) connection with the cinematic Bond of the first and most iconic Bond movies. My Best Regards

@@omegabondwatches With a name like Omega bond watches, I would hope that you're a fan of that brand! LOL. I suppose I was a bit sharp with my comment. But I submit: Flemming wore a rolex, wrote bond with a Rolex and Connery wore one. It could (easily) be argued that I'm a dinosaur stuck in the Connery era but it seems that the rolex is the iconic bond watch. With all due respect to Lindy, in my opinion the Omega's seem more 'stylized'... not as 'rugged' looking as the rolex... On a personal level, where do I spend my own money? I own two rolex and no omegas.

@@omegabondwatches Ian Fleming, author of Bond and ex naval officer himself, wrote that his hero wears a Rolex. That is because at the time, the official MOD (Ministry of Defence) watch for naval officers, SEALS and divers was the Rolex Submariner ref. 6538/A (1955 - 1959) and ref. 5512 (1959 - 1967). In 1967, MOD replaced Rolex for the Omega Seamaster 300 ref. 165.024. But due to problems with Omega's naiad crown in 1971 MOD replaced again the Omega with the Rolex Submariner ref. 5513/5517. So both Rolex and Omega have a naval military backround, but Rolex has a longer connection. In conlusion, Rolex is historically more accurate for James Bond a) as a Fleming character b) as a naval officer and c) as a cinematic character (because it is the first and most iconic watch in the Bond films).
