Honestly I like the look and lines of your Vantage more than the DBS in Casino. I thought the DBS was a bit over designed, whereas the the lack of detail and the smooth surfaces of your 2006 Vantage feels much more elegant and refined. As just cars go, you have winner my friend! AND you have a proper stick shift as opposed to the current paddle shifters!

Also the DBS & DB9( which are both gorgeous) actually look a bit stretched/ elongated in real life whereas the Vantage looks perfectly proportioned and closer to how these cars look on the screen

I know what you mean, but to my eyes, the Vantage looks a little too squat and even a bit porky (overweight). The DB9 is perfect that's why I bought one of those instead. And because it had a huge V12 engine. 😊

Such a lovely Aston, definitely better looking than some of the newest ones (imo). For anyone who doesn't know, the DB10 in Spectre was built on a V8 Vantage like David's - slightly newer model with a different body on top but all the underpinnings of the DB10 was the V8 Vantage

As a car guy I LOVED this video. OMG, truly, what a magnificent beast. I've always been in love with the Aston Martins and ever since I was young I've tried to have cars that embraced the... ahem... spirit of them. (Cue a gazillion rusty MGB GTs, Triumphs, blah blah blah etc. etc., and then the Firebirds in America - which DO have hatchbacks so they're KIND of grand-tourers... Just Detroit POS grand tourers.) Nothing comes close to the real thing, though - although watching this video is close! Loved what you said about being responsible, too. Not going to lie, I like my drink - but my friends have always observed that I'll NEVER drink and drive because you can do one or the other - not both - and I value a good, fast car more than a good, strong drink. Likewise, I'm not a racing car driver and I don't pretend to be, so I prefer to focus on getting there in one piece than ahead of schedule. My retirement plan is drowning in rum in Cuba, not wrapping a car around a tree. Loved the whole idea of the state of mind, too - which is convenient since I'm very far from having an ACTUAL Aston Martin (next toy is going to be a Harley.) I bet you feel a really great sense of accomplishment to be sitting behind the wheel of the kind of car we could have only dreamed of as a kid - and it's very inspiring to see you living the best version of your life in such a grateful, appreciative way. GREAT video! Thanks for sharing!

I know the feeling. First aston Martin that I saw in a bond movie was the vanquish out off die another day. Mine first dream car and then it was replaced by the DBS. I think when you drive a Aston martin, you feel you are a real gentleman

I promise (Really honestly) this isn't a flex but I've had 5 AMs (3 Vantages, a DB9 & a Vanquish S), to be honest my absolute favourite was my 1st, a 2006 V8 Vantage in Midnight Blue. God I wish I hadn't sold it! David yours looks very special in that colour & particularly without the front number plate!

Love the vantage. Here in the uk there’s a company that charges u $100 for a wee key fob plus instructions that make ur exhaust valves stay permanently open and the sound is even better. Just need to win lottery, but the Aston then get the key fob. The DBS in manual are non existent here too so I’d happily get the same car as yours David. Well done on owning a true car

amazing set of wheels, David! and a smart move going for the V8 over a DB9 or Vanquish with the V12. The V8 is a gem of an engine wrapped in a suave package.

When I saw how much these had depreciated last year I bought one. They are so cheap now it's hilarious. My only complaint is the throttle response but apparently it can be fixed with a tune chip.

David looks like the door struts are shot if the door won’t stay in place when opened. It’s a quick fix to get that taken car of, I recommend getting it done. I’m looking at getting one of these, shooting for the 4.7 V8 from around 2010. Very enjoyable vid even a year after you published. Any mechanical or electrical issues come up since you acquired?

I thought this was to be an ownership update. Like the struts in the doors are known to fail, and so they won’t stay open. How has it all been quality and reliability wise? As for babying, I used to own and practically race a Honda NSX on tracks. It was all I did with the car. On a dyno day with other NSXs, mine was the only one to still produce the claimed bro, while the babies, produced less.

One day I'll own one but what scares the crap out of me is the cost of ownership. I've pretty much got to go in with the mentality that whatever the car costs initially I should double it in my mind to account for all the maintenance.
@SmithDrewSmith

A lot of the high cost of ownership is the depreciation. Easy answer for that, never sell it!

Drew Smith I don’t want a new one, I like the models from the 2000s like David so that is less of an issue for me. AMG engine in an Aston, no thanks.
@SmithDrewSmith
@SmithDrewSmith 4 жыл бұрын
@@TriforceRich If you're handy, most of the maintenance on these older models can be done at home for not outrageous cost. Depreciation is still pretty high up there on the cost of ownership, even for the older cars.

You can keep your Ferraris and Lamborghinis, that is THE car for me. Poor old Pierce has to wait til his fourth film to get one, Daniel gets one first time out!! It must look extra cool on American roads where most of the cars look like they're made from Lego bricks. Although, you let yourself down a bit saying "butt" a beautiful lady like that doesnt have a "butt" a gentleman would say she has a "behind" or "posterior" !! 🧐

@thebondexperience, Hi David. The car looks stunning. I just wanted to let you know that your door struts look like the need to be replaced. Aston Martin prides themselves on the "infinite position doors", I believe that is what they're called. They should not only stay open, but stay open at any angle. Since I'm not at a place in my life to afford one of those beauties, I'm trying to model my Scion FR-S off of an Aston. If your curious, check out my instagram. @andrew.jb.

My 2018 Vanquish S Volante is the most beautiful piece of shit car I’ve ever owned. Paid list 367K and I’d be lucky to sell for 175K Aston Martin is going Bankrupt for the 8th time for a reason. My Bentley drove 200K mikes without problems, the Vanquish has been in for repairs 15 times with only 8k miles. Fuck Aston Martin. Overpriced all Hat no cattle, and yes, you’re definitely no Bond. The Vantage is a great car for anyone 5.5 ft or less.
