Harry captures the essence when he calls the engine a hooligan. The ride still being stiff at its softest setting makes it a bit less desirable compared to other modern sports cars that do have a GT mode. Streets aren't race tracks and have lots of imperfections that makes stiff suspensions tough to live with over time as older Vantage owners can attest.

As always, a super-high quality and entertaining video from Mr Metcalfe, the man every car enthusiast would like to buy a beer. Personally I usually watch them while I’m cooking…(my wife can’t cook!🤣) Anyway, the car is utterly wonderful obviously. I’m so happy it exists, can’t wait to see one on the road and would love to have a drive in one. Actually I probably could because I’m sixty years old and dealers tend to take me seriously - but I never test cars I know I won’t buy because it just feels wrong to me to waste the dealers’ time. But seriously? Over twice the price of a fully loaded BMW G82 XDrive? - a car that is quicker, a much better GT, one that can seat four and their luggage and one that will probably 🤞 be more reliable. Of course you can’t compare a BMW with an Aston Martin…different thing completely…different status. The Aston has way more style, heritage and loveliness than the BMW for sure. But would I rather have the Aston over a G82? Nope - and I’m lucky enough to have that choice. Every time I get in my M4 I just think, ‘why would I want more than this?’ Anyway, at my age, one thing I’ve learnt is that nobody cares what I think🤣
@josephclark256318 күн бұрын
Have driven this car and it was a “bombastic” kind of car, which might be a bit too hardcore for a GT/daily driver. The interior is an enormous step up from the last car, as is the performance envelope. £165k base price with steel brakes is also very punchy in my opinion. The competition (Ferrari Roma and 992 Turbo) have manufacturer developed and produced engines, whilst the Vantage has an admittedly impressive third party sourced power unit. I really liked the car, but if Aston Martin want to sell them, I think the price point is £20k/£25k too high - pitched against a well specced hybrid 992 GTS, I’d be very tempted to take the Aston.

The post 2024 ones are like disqualifying me as an responsible adult with a drivers license and the worst is that it is probably all the screens that distract the modern driver that make them mandatory. Always a pleasure to watch your videos Harry. Noting as I view… Manual hatch back closure? Seriously?! Why are we apparently obsessed with carbon fibre? Expensive to buy, expensive to repair. Surely a sportscar can be great without weave? That centre console is chunky isn’t it? Yes, more buttons are welcome. But the screen, which should be delicate, looks lumpen. The new Porsche GT3’s ‘Assist’ button looks ever more inspired… Frameless rear view mirror looks good. Plastic shroud behind it less so. Aston is a GT brand to my mind. There should surely be a GT bent to this car. Not everybody wants a firmly-sprung track aspirant. 600 horses and £161k? RIP the entry Aston… But since I’m not in the market, AM can ignore all of the above. 🤪

Took the previous Vantage (21MY) out and couldn't unhear the fake engine noise being piped into the cabin. The other car I have been looking at BMW 8series coupe is the same. A real shame that the OPF's have sterilised sound and forced manufacturers to go down the fake noise route.

Good looking car but the interior screens and buttons looks terrible

The elegance has left these cars. It just looks like a load of plastic.

@@brianboyle2681agree; little to no desirability in that dashboard and interior. Looks like a high spec Kia (not knocking Kia).

Modern interiors are dire. Harry et al should be calling manufacturers out on this more. How has it become so commonplace that instrument clusters are computer screens with an image of instruments on them? Not long ago they were akin to a fine Swiss watch.

@@Papalazapoo For me, a favorite aspect of classic cars is the dashboard switches and dials - like a 50s Rolex, beautifully tactile and engineered. They do not date, but modern interiors with screens et al will date quicker than a Curry's high street stereo.

I have to turn off the driver aids each time I use the car ? I'll stick to used cars thanks.

Great honest review, i’d plum for a V8 R F type~ half the price, but certainly not half the fun.

The interiors in those are truly shit. I had one. Dynamically crap too

I think Harry’s age informs his opinion too. Someone not as seasoned would disagree. We’ve only know cars at this size. I am in my twenties hence I’m not nostalgic about cars sounding a particular way or weighing a certain amount. To me this is fantastic and I much prefer it to the 2.0 AMGs or 3.0 Ferraris.

I think the size, width, is imposing and creates a certain tension in driving. Harry's comments are particularly arresting, and diminishing, the extras, costs, the miniscule speedometer gauge, all in all the criticisms outweigh the praises. The car looks great, sounds great, but overall ends up in the loser collum. Fantastic review as always.

Harry, I like your videos and sometimes I even like the cars, but the videos always get to the core of the cars.
