Wrestle is the ultimate offensive AND defensive skill, bitlz cages, blitz ball cariers, beat Block... pop the ball lose. Uphill and take a big guy off his feet, defending? Take their blitzer down. I gave it to a plus strength ghoul on bb2... savagery!

Hay! Adding the pro skill to this mix really make this all very interesting, lot of people saying it could be a best second skill after block for getting defender downs. I know it’s not a combat skill technically but I see it being used a lot as one. Turns any two die with a push or both down against block into a three dice on a 3+! I don’t think it will replace MB as an early killer skill, but for some teams it might well replace claw or tackle, depending on how the meta of a league unfolds. TBF with how big the skill is might be worth having an entire episode on pro! I’d watch that! Also if your a brawler lover, RAW pro stacks with it :3 as it can RR the other dice, as it’s only the dice you RR with brawler you can’t RR!

I'd love to see this as well! I think pro might also be useful for those who likes to 1/2 die block with players with wrestle. And besides, pro isn't limited to combat rolls. I think it might be even better in sevens where you have few rerolls and few skills. So with the buff from a 4+ to a 3+ I think it will be massive for those who likes to push the calculated risks :)

Consider the Pro episode on the planner Badger's Den!! Because everything you just said is really interesting!!

I'm surprised that you didn't talk about Brawler vs a player with Block. Isn't that the one case where Brawler will actually give you higher % than having Block yourself? Since you'll have a chance to reroll into a POW or defender stumbles rather than do nothing?

Honestly, there should be some kind of award for rolling triple skulls, like a pity Award of 1 SPP for having such awful luck. And the player your roll against, should get 2 SPP for laughing in the face of certain doom. Actually, I am going to make that a house rule.

Hahaha then I want to play in your league!! "Infamy - 1SPP" for great plays, and great disasters!

I feel I've missed where you've talked about the new death zone coming out and that we are getting sevens official rules. I mean that's exciting right?

Agreed. A very strong choice for Big Guys.

I'm a huge fan! I know it's technically correct to save for Block, but in shorter leagues Brawler will do just nicely!!

it would have been intresting to compare brawler + block against tackle and block to bring down a blodger (splitted up for -2/-1/1/2/3 die blocks because blodge is a basic tactic and it would be intresting to see the worth of brawler in this meta
@BoneheadPodcast3 жыл бұрын
I'm planning Blodge as it's own segment :D for that very reason! It's the first "Next Level" realisation in Blood Bowl!

Rolling a 6 (and 5 with tackle)on. One die no skills 16.6%. One die brawler 19.4%. One die tackle 33.3%: two die no skill 30.5%. Two die brawler 35%. Two die tackle 55.5%. Tackle is way better but tackle and brawler is 66.2%

I know I'm late to the comments party, but I do really wonder: will there be a follow-up video looking at block versus mighty blow? It seems that taking MB as first skill is popular on some players (particularly those with ST4 and low SPP potential, i.e. slow build) and I think it is commonly accepted that MB will help you CAS more than block will. However (the tricky part), I think that generally these straight-up number comparisons don't take into account the advantage of keeping your player upright, i.e. the defensive advantage of having block. If your player stays on his feet, he might get a chance to block back next turn and more often than not keeping pitch control plays a massive factor in how many blocks your team can make and how many of those are 2D. the more players that are standing (vs. prone opposing players), the more you can get advantageous blocks.

So do I want Brawler or Wrestle for my dedicated Wardancer hunter? I figure that I'm more likely to be up players against wood elves, so just taking them to the ground and fouling is good, but just punching them is also good.
@Mech-Badger-Man3 жыл бұрын
As they have dodge, on RR its only 1/6 chance of that RR to be pow. Really not worth it. Wrestle into foul is far better, if you must remove them, plus also if you really want them out or NEED that ball to be lose, then your going to RR the pool anyway. But to top it of, brawler only works on blocks, not blitzes, so really not helpful for hunting Elves.
@R0ssMM3 жыл бұрын
I think Tackle would be better than either against Wardancers. Brawler only works if you start your turn adjacent to them (or if someone pushes them your way), and a good Elf coach will try to minimise that. Wrestle is a great skill and is generally better than Tackle for ball sacking, IMO, but Tackle is stupidly good against a piece with Dodge. Tackle doubles your chances of getting a Pow, whilst Wrestle doubles your chances of getting them on the floor, but you'd still need to follow up with a foul.
@BoneheadPodcast3 жыл бұрын
Hey Halinn - Badger and R0ssMM have beat me to it here; Brawler will be less effective as a hunting skill because it sadly doesn't work on Blitzes!! But, in your noble quest to vanquish Wardancers (probably a video on itself haha), I like their suggestion of Tackle! But your Wrestle & fouling tactic is as solid as it gets!!

can almost do a whole ep on brawler. when to reroll using the skill, when to reroll with TRR, odds vs block vs no block vs dodge.
@BoneheadPodcast3 жыл бұрын
Brawler is a truly fascinating skill, it's statistically worse than it feels - but it's always a feel good roll! It just always gives you a chance to avoid disaster :D
