I watched this video like 5x already. Awesome stuff! Loving it! In no particular order: Ficus microcarpa(large) for sure- Amazing root work, even the aerial roots are looking radial. Birds nest spruce- a favorite. Bougainvillea- nice tree and flowers will look great. Any of your Vietnam plated Ficus trees. Any of your forests landscapes( so hard to choose, they are all tremendous.) If i had to pick two would be Pc afra is super interesting, and larch forrest landscape is beautiful. Schefflera clump should be in the show too. And some of your smaller plantings to show how well cuttings can progress and make creative plantings. Thank you for all the great content this year!!

I really enjoy the single Bougainvillea, Serissa forest (with ruins), Austrian Pine, Cedar Avatar Grove, Schefflera, Larch forest, and the Portulacaria afra forest. Personally, I think the 25 year old Ficus deserves a little limelight. All GREAT choices! Hope you do a video of the show.
@paulschaefer52416 жыл бұрын
You said that you wanted a variety of species and stages of development. Some I would pick are the little Jade. for the 3-D Viet Nam style I would pick the more develope microcarpa. you plan on showing the nice Shafflara clump so fig would give more variety. I would also like to see the birds nest spruce. These are some of my favorites of the ones you've made videos on.

Hi Nigel Saunders , Firstly, my pick for the show (from 26 trees) are-- tree no. 6,7,8,11,12,14,16,17,19,23,25,26. 😍 Secondly, I feel the trees to be sent to the show must be selected by putting each one away from remaining in a plain background in order to analyse their unique features. 🤓 👍🏼

And of course I'm commenting again I knew this was going to happen, it will probably happen again but this cedar clump is amazing everything you have is just amazing so so beautiful, again I just wish I could have something like this in my home. it would be like having a giant tree. Im new to bonsai and I am just interested in the fact that you can have this thing that is suppose to this he massive thing but is then made into something small that you can hold in your hands with out taking away any of the look of it actually being big. It looks exactly as it would if it were its regular size just small which is what I find the most fascinating thing about it. It truly blows my mind.

Nigel, have you done any updates on the ribbon root project? The one where you grew a tree on a board? Also, there was one with the temple, any updates on that one? I lol'd at your "...maybe..." when you were talking about the aloe. I've been getting into bonsai in a super easy and approachable way. All the little saplings around my house, I just have been playing around with clipping them and seeing how they respond. Maybe one day I'll dig one up. My favorite is an elm right outside my front door.

Nigel... I have a question after looking at this video and several others. I have a small tree in my yard that cats are destroying by clawing the trunk of it. It’s a small Japanese type. After watching several of your videos I’m prone to believe that I can turn it into a bonsai. It’s about 3 feet high presently. What do you suggest? There are some short limbs at the bottom about a foot up from the ground. I’m willing to take the top off and pot it. Can I send you a picture?
