Merry Christmas....BTW...as a NJ gardener, we keep a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol, dawn dish soap and water to clean off poison ivy. Spray then wipe with baby wipe....easy peasy. Happy New Year

For vines up high, get a paint roller stick, knock cage off a paint roller and screw onto stick. You know have a grab stick for moving vines and snakes out of the way

I just want to tell you that your doing the abandoned properties are more appreciated than you think. It improves the neighborhood. If it's in a school district, it keeps the children safer walking by them. As for the fencelines, even those are appreciated if you do them as it sometimes gets into their gardening, but if its not their fence, they can't touch it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

There is no reason to hold onto a home when you have to go with family/assisted living, unless someone in the family can immediately take it over. I used to use Tecnu poison oak and ivy armor. Its a lotion you put on your skin before you go out in the brush. Then you launder your clothes and shower right away with the Tecnu soap. It worked great! We have ton of poison oak here in California and it made backpacking a lot more fun to have Tecnu.
