Despite the issues, can we discuss how much closer the non-Wacom tablets are to the industry standard Wacoms every year? Give another 2 years to include standard features such as 4K, multi-touch, low activation force, eraser on the end of the pen, and barrel rotation, they will feature match Wacom display tablets.

I have drawn on cintiqs before from college, and honestly speaking, I don't mind using a glossy slippery surface. In fact I prefer it since it shaves nibs 98% slower (i'm just throwing numbers, no solid data) than having a textured surface. My Wacom intuos comic had a rougher surface and turned my pen nibs into sharp plastic within a week of using it. Took me years to slap on a iPad screen protector on it and it is slippery but you get used to it, and the more you use it over time it does get less slippery; while also not sanding down nibs as fast or at all from what I've noticed. Also your hand glides far more effortlessly with the screen protector on and glides even better with a drawing glove.

Having 4k and a laminated screen is a commodity that is absolutely expected by me. I‘m not long in the artist‘s game so I don‘t know what people used previously but I‘m very happy with my ipad pro and screenless wacom pen tablet. 1500$ for a simple laminated 4k display with pen input is simply criminal. I will probably need such a tablet by the end of 2023/24 and know now what to look out for. Xp pen has a fairly priced product.

What is up with Macs not playing nicely with pen displays? I ended up having to buy a windows machine to be able to get any functionality out of my Huion, because if you turned the Mac off it would stop interfacing with the tablet until you uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. No issues with windows... but yeah....more money I didn't really want to spend.

I currently have the XP-Pen Artist Pro 15.6 - From what I have seen, I would also give The Artist Pro 16 TP a 9/10 but for different reasons. I always have one hand on a keyboard. I actually prefer no buttons on the pen or the display but one button on pen is a good start, however having it roll away when I put it down will get annoying fast. Eraser on back is unnecessary in my case. Glossy screen with no matte option is a big negative for me. I mean, they made the wrong choices but for the right reasons. I think the ideal situation for me would be to use my iPad and Apple Pen as a touch and pen display tablet for Photoshop on my PC. LMAO! Wow, if only pigs could fly... I REALLY want to replace the one I have but I have not seen 100% good reason to just yet. I would just be trading one set of pet peeves for another.

The lack of a textured screen is no big deal because for 12 bucks you can buy the texture sheet that goes over the screen and works wonderfully.... As for the pen rolling on the table, a simple zip tie around the body of the pen fixes that instantly as the pen can't roll past the zip tie block

This one is a miss for me - touch: not essential, I have keyboard shortcuts for panning and zooming - glossy screen: definite downside - pen with only one button: why - eraser on pen: does anyone even use it? Keyboard shortcut is so much quicker and more precise that rotating the whole pen - no buttons on screen: eh, not great but okay - higher price for all that? No thank you. All in all, I liked where they were going before this one, personally. Their priority should be great pens and great 2K / 4K screens for noticeably lower prices that Wacom. Here a lot seems to be sacrificed to include the touch and in my opinion, it's not entirely worth it.

i think its targeted more for professionals who are used to working on ipad pros, because i have a hard time trying to get out of my touch-control mindset when it comes to drawing on my computer/older xp pen. i also dont love having buttons on the front-- i would actually get a lot of use out of this. also i prefer that companies *give* me the option for glossy or matte screen--i dont like matte screens, but you can always put a matte screen protector over a glossy one, just not the other way around. & its likely a higher price bc of the new touch control tech and the adapter changes.

I needed a pen display for note taking and marking up PDF documents, whilst I had the Wacom Cintiq 16, it was limited as it 1920 x 1080. I needed a 4K model and this XP Pen Artist Pro 16 TP fits the bill. I did some cable related issues, but this is resolved (you can't use alternative USB-C cables). So far happy with the XP Pen, as it is on a great price. The equivalent Wacom Wintiq 16 Pro (which supports 4K) is significantly more expensive. The screen on my XP Pen is a little darker (but I have not played around with adjustments). It does n't have a pen holder, like the Wacom. Aside from that, I am very happy with the XP Pen. My idea product is a 35" touchscreen stylus monitor (similar to the Surface Studio) with built in speakers. I hope XP Pen bring out such a product....

@@MVirnig3D my first tablet is a Wacom as well, a small intuos. I’ve had it for almost 7 years and it still works, but for now I exclusively work on my iPad 8th gen. Illustrating on iPad is such a game changer, I can work so fast because of the touchscreen. But I’m starting to feel the limitations of it’s small screen so I’m looking to buy a display tablet with at least 16 inches size. Of course I lean to Wacom since I know it’s long-lasting, and I’ve read so much horror stories of non-Wacom products like xp-pen and Huion. I just can’t risk it. But because I’m also used to using iPad, I have trouble finding a good upgrade. It’s like everything else is inferior to my iPad experience. I’m glad xp-pen is finally adding touchscreen but they’re still not reliable like iPad or Wacom. And Cintiq pro which has touch is way out of my budget. I hope Wacom makes a cheaper touchscreen cintiq soon.

Looks almost ideal! Just waiting on Huion now to release a similar device. Not sure why, but I have always seen XP-Pen as a cheaper(not in a good way) competitor to Huion. I can say having used the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ giving priority to the pen makes ALL the difference. Clip Studio Paint offers this and as long as your pen gets in range before you touch the display, you will not have problems. I have been drawing on mine now for over 6 months and have never had it leave marks on my work. I have however had it move my canvas if I touch the display before getting the pen in range (more my fault than anything). Let's hope this is a trend and soon ALL displays will offer touch.

Hi, so if you're going purely for a tablet to draw on I'd go with apple. They keep their apps updated and make it so every app on there works well. The downside is ipads are the most expensive. Android has lots of tablets with lower budgets but the durability and quality of apps varies. If you can, I recommend going to an electronic store that has tablets for you to try. Try drawing on both and see which one you think you'd like more.

I seriously can't understand why XP pen or one of the other popular non-wacom companies hasn't licensed their pen technology to a popular non-samsung cellphone company so that we could see a true competitor to the Note 9. I would love to see a Xiomi or other premium-discount cell phone manufacturer release a real competitor. If I am not mistaken, there was a dual screen LG that could use an active stylus, and I think that the Iphone allows for an active stylus on newer models, but it seems like no one is really willing to release a phone designed around the stylus except for Samsung, which is a shame since they have gotten so stingy with boot-loader access.
