Unpowered wings are basically better paragliders for long distance travel and the game gives you 2 you can chain together on one of the highest islands in the game and 4 much lower on GSL which can get you an incredible number of places very quickly. You can land on one mid air to regain your stamina and fly farther than you could on your paraglider anyway, without using battery, and without having to hold the analog stick in a single direction for an annoying amount of time

Okay here's an idea. Throw the boomerang like 6 times so it's on half health. Take it to a rock octorock and have it eat the weapon. Start throwing it again and see if it still breaks in 7 throws or if the durability on the wing has been reset.

The title made me think this boomerang was going to have a hidden downside compared to the unfused one rather than just the smallest upside, for example homing karts often chew through the durability of whatever they’re attached to in addition to consuming battery making them arguably worse than the base version of the weapon or shield

This is probably because Zonai wings count down to despawn based on how much time they're generating lift, and since they're increasing the boomerangs range, they are generating some lift (even though the Boomerang is doing most of the work). They probably either kept the despawn here for consistencies sake, or they forgot to remove it.

Kite Shields also work like Wings if you fuse them. They and the Zonai Wing are different from others in that weapons won't spin when you through them (aside from boomerangs of course). I wonder if using Zonai Wings on other weapons still can get them to despawn- it's obviously a lot easier with a boomerang.

I can get the purpose of having the Wing not last very long early in the game for game balance reasons, but I wish there was a way you could earn more durable wings in the same way you can just purchase Big Batteries after your Energy Cell is fully upgraded. Perhaps the King Gleeoks in the sky could be guarding chests with Durable Wings in them, or you can buy them after you completed all the dungeons, or _something,_ because as it is the despawn timer means that it's not worth creating contraptions around...

I really would like to know the reason why they made decisions for only a few specific devices to despawn after such a short period of time when other things like the fans and control stick combo outperform the wing. You think you'd want people to USE the wing not chuck them away and never use them again lol. Like some islands are legitimately too far away from one another to get to without using the hoverbike because the wing just breaks too darn fast.

Agree, totk would be far more interesting with infinite wings and no paraglider. Would also give more motivation for players to upgrade their batteries and get zonai charges. But then what would the amiibos do?

I played through TotK without the Paraglider. The game isn't balanced for it, but it's actually doable. You can't get the map, find Mineru, or get some of the Koroks, but everything else, even the Shrines, are able to be beaten with some minor exploits. It's almost a different game entirely.

Nintendo nerfed the Zonai Wings in every way possible! Why?! Fused to ur shield, you can Shield Jump an inch higher, whoopie! It removes ur Shield Surf ability, too. Used normally, they last just over a minute, so traversing Hyrule means having to learn the mid-air Wing Spawn trick (AND using up Wings faster than any other device). It's MADDENING!

Feels like the Zonai Wings are probably the worst option for most things you'd want to use them for. They vanish quickly when attached to a boomerang, so just about any other distance increasing material is better. They vanish quickly when part of a vehicle, so just about any other way to fly is better, and uh, I guess the slightly higher shield jump is a decent enough benefit if you don't have Mineru's Constructive active? Yeah, they're not really the ideal part to use for a lot of things, are they?

But the throws can vary in size so not always 13 throws unless thats not how it works. You can throw it into a tree or recall it to reeduce the length teh throw makes the boomerang fly.
