So, one reason Sauron failed in the third age in the war of the ring is because he couldn’t complete that one job Morgoth gave him thousands of years prior and kill the line of Barahier? Pardon my spelling lol. Cuz Aragorn is the last descendent of that line… I can’t help but sense a bitter rivalry between that line against this one dark entity.

My understanding of the Lore also seems to suggest, based on what we know of their ideologies, that the relationship between Morgoth & Sauron was most likely becoming increasingly strained towards the end of the 1st Age. Because whereas Sauron wanted to rule Middle Earth, & impose his own sense of order upon it (Lawful Evil), Morgoth seemed increasingly intent on destruction for its own sake. Making him very Chaotic Evil. In fact, Sauron shared a worldview more similar to Saruman than that of Morgoth.

That's a really interesting point! Are there any texts that support this interpretation? I imagine their relationship would be so incredibly fascinating. It's a shame Tolkien didn't write much about the internal hierarchy and dynamic of Morgoths side.

Order, power and ambition are more or less the key to Sauron's personality. however a bit of fuss is made due to the Rings of Power serie that Sauron felt remorse and wanted to heal Middle Earth. In the discussion it is said Tolkien himself wrote that. Only nobody could point out the text itself. And basicly I don't believe something like it excists. But I wonder if there a text by Tolkienn that with a lot of wisfull thinking could be read as Sauron's remorse and healing aspirations. Interesting to notice that the moment Sauron "went of to the Dark Side" was so early and dated from even long before the first War between the Valar and Morgoth.

I have read the Silmarillion book, if I remember correctly, it was never mentioned Sauron changing forms but it was said in the book Sauron was a vampire. But the book said he was grabbed and pinned by Huan who offered Sauron 2 choices either die or surrender his flesh and blood form thus he chose to leave his body form and then took spiritual form until the destruction of the ring. Now I believe I must leave the "pocket book" sized book and get a real deal book !!!!!!

There seems to be a recurring theme that those who are considered great tend to fall towards the path of evil. Morgoth was the greatest of the Valar and thought he deserved more. Sauron was the same as we see here.

In my opinion the reason for this is that power for power’s sake is a very very corrupting influence! I love that in the LoTR Galadriel says that She has passed that test and would go west and be diminished! She demonstrated how truly wise she was; she would not abandon her goodness for power!

Why did he take the forms he took instead of a Balrog? It is my understanding that Dark Maiar took the form of Flaming Balrogs. Did other Maiar who worked for Morgoth take forms other than Balrogs like a more human shape such as a man or an elf? A video on this topic would be appreciated.

Those were Maiar of fire that turned into the balrogs, just like Arien was a Maia of fire who guided the sun. Sauron was not a spirit of fire

There were some beings which could be antropomorph Maiar. For example Thuringwethil. One could speculate, that the dragons and werewolves are Maiar. But this is not for certain.

The first contender I could think of is the Maia Osse, (lord of costal waters and Ulmo's Maia). He almost joined Mairon and Melkor before the awakening of Elves.

Also there's another possible scenario where everyone in the Forth Age is like "Yooo Sauron is finally gone!!" And Osse comes to take his place being essentially the backup plan for the backup plan (the first backup plan being Sauron) 3 dark lords!!

Power is limited in Middle Earth. Only the Flame imperishable /Eru has unlimited power. Morgoth distributed his power to create tools to corrupt Arda(Morgoth's Ring) Sauron was given a great deal of this power much like the Witch King was given power by Sauron. This power would include armies and werewolves but most importantly knowledge. Sauron's ring which he poured much his power into was a small thing compared to Morgoth who corrupted the world including Sauron. I would argue that Sauron would not have turned to evil without the influence of Morgoth who was the root of all evil.

This is a strictly LORE video about Sauron in the first age. When speaking of him getting info from Gorlim and revealing his true nature of cunning evil, you fail to mention that tiny detail where he tricks the man by actually depicting the form of his wife standing in the window and luring him to not only be captured but also truly believe his wife was alive. And, thanks largely to this clever deceit, it was Gorlim himself that asked Sauron to be reunited with his wife when Sauron asked him what he wants in return for providing this information. Not the opposite as it's misrepresented in this video. He then cruelly mocks the guy after he rats on his comrades. "What little prices you men will turn on your own for" saying something to that effect before then finally revealing that his wife is actually dead and what he saw was dark magic trickery. Then he kills him....cruelly. All those parts really speak to how much Sauron reveled in cruelty. He simply delighted in torturing this guy. First age Sauron who would later try to repent. I would argue that leaving out or misrepresenting basically all of that does a disservice to the topic presented. The part about showing the guy a phantom of his dead wife is simply hard to fathom leaving out. Its such a huge detail that displays the deceit and mastery of cunning Sauron really was all about. Those sessions trying to come up with strategies to convince your audience that 'Rings of Power' is anything but a disgrace must be mentally taxing and time consuming, I'll grant you. So, an oversight like this makes sense at least.

I never understood why he is the "greatest" servant of Morgoth. This guy has a terrible track record in single combat. Only once did he win barely i might add in a 1v1 and it was against one of the Children:Finrod Felegund. Gothmog was clearly stronger than him in a physical combat. I guess it's his guile and his ability to persuade. He also has metallurgy which is far beyond anything in the Second and Third Ages save perhaps Numenor.
