The special thing about 2017 Federer is how he finally figured out his backhand and made it a weapon. Prior to that, his backhand was his only weak point. People could no longer go to his backhand for safety because it was sincerely dangerous. 2017 Federer was maxed out in every regard, and one of if not the greatest peaks of any player ever.

This is exactly what I always said. Federer never dropped his level,( or like his fanboys like to use as excuses, not in his prime) he was always good but with Nole and Rafa around (with no injuries) he was simply weaker than the other 2. This confirms that with Djokovic out for all 2017 and half of 2018 due to elbow injury and Nadal not being at 100% for whatever (I can't remember) he raised again and won 3 slams in 12 months. Federer was always an amazing player that always played great, but due to the other two he simply couldn't win big titles. That's it. Third best player of all time.

LOL. You lot are getting boring. Federer must be the only sportsman in the history of sport to be virtually unaffected by anything for much of his career. Meanwhile, Djo has been affected by marital problems, grief, lack of motivation, not having Becker yet, flu, tiredness from SFs that went five sets, playing too many days in a row, wind, sun/heat... And Nadal has been affected by injury x infinity, parents' divorce, knees that prevent(ed) him from getting to low balls, a loss of speed, etc. Meanwhile, Federer was always playing amazing. Always totally fine. Totally unaffected by anything ever. DEFINITELY not age, of course. As for Nadal not being 100%, pfffft hahahaha. Fact : The average pro tennis player in the top 100 is 27 years old. Djokovic hit top 100 when he was 18. The majority of professional tennis players retire at the age of 30. That's another fact..... Djokovic had 11 years to try to get a winning record before Federer turned 30 and he just couldn't do it. In tennis that's called dominance when you win 2 out of every 3 times you play someone. What this shows is Djokovic only has a winning record against Federer after Federer has entered retirement age of the vast majority of players. It's called physiology, when youth starts to leave you in such a physically exhausting sport.
