I have highly sensitive, combination, acne prone and very fair skin (i.e a total nightmare) so I make changes to my routine very gradually or I just break out in hives or acne. Last night I started this routine with *just* the avene creme and it went on very thick and a little bit greasy and I assumed I’d wake up with a face full of white heads. But my skin is so dry and irritated atm so I’m kind of desperate. To my amazement I woke up with plump, soft skin with no (new) spots and I’m so pleased. Just to say this video gives excellent advice. Thank you!

I was using La Roche Posay Double Repair for about a year and at first I liked it. But lately I found it not hydrating enough for me. I tried the Inkey List one based on your recommendation and I LOVE it. My skin feels so hydrated and soft. And, it really plumps my skin and my foundation looks so much better. The texture and pores are less noticeable. It’s $20 and you only need a little bit so it will last. Thank you!

The Avene Cicalfate moisturizer has become a staple for me - I got it as a sample a few months ago and immediately ordered the full size after using it for a few days. My skin is very sensitive and dry and gets red and chapped and flaky in the cold winter months. This stuff is really healing and hydrating - I find that the white cast only lasts about 5-10 minutes until it melts in/absorbs into my skin as it warms up. I apply it at night immediately after showering to ensure maximum absorption and moisture retention. It leaves my skin looking so dewy and hydrated and really helps calm the redness for a more even skin tone. Highly recommend and was excited to see it in this barrier repair routine! Thanks Dr. Locke! 😊

@kimgroslouis55879 ай бұрын
The cocokind ceramides serum has made a huge difference on my skin. I don't like heavy cream during winter because I always feel it clogs my pores and cause some eruptions overtime. So I stick with my oat gel moisturizer from Aveeno but I needed something more effective during winter. Adding this serum was a game changer for me and the price is very affordable. Maybe you could try it too someday😊 would be cool to have your opinion about it.

i got 2 questions, first is, you start the video with cleansing product the avene product and moisturizer to repair skin barrier, and then at the end for the night time routine you speak about cleanse and this avene moisturizer, to use these to repair the skin barrier and once it is repaired you can use the products you talked about for in the morning routine? got me a little confused? so i use only the night time routine for repair and once it is repaired is use the morning routine? or do i use both those routines right away? and second question is about the exfoliate, you say a quick swipe, just 1quick swipe? you dont have to massage it in like the rest of the products? oh and btw, the moisturizer i use already has glycerin and niacinamide in it, would i still need the avene serum?
@kwe77548 ай бұрын
Dumb question, but who is the ideal candidate for this routine? Is it best for individuals affected by dryness/flaking, redness & irritation? Or is this something everyone should do? Will EVERYONE likely see some sort of improvement in their skin’s appearance & texture? Or will only those suffering from skin barrier problems (if that’s even ‘a thing’) see a difference? There’s just sooo many skin care options in terms of addressing particular problems so I’m trying to figure out if I should go this route or find a routine more tailored towards the major issues I’m facing… Also does one continue this routine for the foreseeable future? Or does one stop once their barrier has been restored?? Sorry soooo many questions!!! You’re just SOOOO AMAZING & an absolute fountain of knowledge!!! & I’m just trying to be a sponge & suck as much up as I can lol 😊
@lerangm8 ай бұрын
The focus on repairing skin barrier came after people started using too many exfoliants and irritating products (retinol, vitamin C, AHA/BHA, niacinamides etc). People just went overboard and used too many and too much, and this led to irritation. Also a problem for people who live in hot, dry climates and during the winter when we're prone to dry skin. Listen to your skin, it tends to feel raw and 'burnt', or you have very irritated red or dry looking skin. That suggests broken skin barrier (though skin by definition is a barrier😂). You're absolutely right in that you're always better off in addressing YOUR specific skincare needs. If your skin moisture feels okay, and your skin doesn't feel inflamed or overly dry, then you're best just focusing on what you think your skin needs (be it pigmentation, lines or whatever). Far better to do one thing consistently than mix and match or try and do everything at once.
@lerangm8 ай бұрын
Also, it honestly depends on how your skin is. Do you notice a difference in your skin with different seasons? The skin is dynamic and always renewing/turning over ever 30 days. So there will be seasons when you need a thicker moisturiser, and times when you need something light/gel like. It honestly varies, listen to you skin. Some people need to do this consistently for weeks, some people only need to do this in winter, some people need to do this regularly because of the climates they live in, or their health conditions (eczema etc). But it's often for a time and then you just reassess to see what your skin feels like
@@lerangm thank you so much for your detailed responses! I really appreciate the help & explanation. I really only experience issues w/ my hands during the winter (dry, cracking skin/eczema) from the cold & frequent hand washing. It’s never a problem during the summer though. But based on your description I very very rarely have facial skin barrier problems, and if I do it only persist for a day. So thanks for the tips I’ll focus on the other more pertinent issues!!

Hello Dr. Question-when do we include tretinoin with this routine
@lerangm8 ай бұрын
I think this routine is targeted towards repairing barrier. So those would be nights where you'd skip active ingredients prescriptions that irritate the barrier because they have the opposite effect to repairing the barrier. Generally speaking you can go use it after moisturizing serum if you want a 'buffer' to the tretinoin. Or you can Less is more, so try to skip too many actives and just focus on moisture + barrier. Or have dedicated days where you just focus on one thing only (moisture only) vs days where you optimize the exfoliant

Hyaluronic acid will pull water from the nearest source. So it's best to do it on damp skin, and then layer it with something else more moisturizing/damp. A buffer of sorts, because it will pull water from your skin if you don't provide moisture for the HA.
