3:29 that totally makes sense and explains declination. A 4.00 dollar compass 🧭 would be impossible to read exact Magnetic 🧲 North but can pick up the magnetic 🧲 flux line that will end up at True Magnetic North and mathematical constants can adjust for this variable.

I like the fact that you don't rush explaining. You take enough time on everything so its understandable for a complete beginner

Thanks Lawrence, as always I appreciate your views and comments. If I'm honest this *isn't* the video that intended to make/alluded to the last time we interacted, but I realised that I needed to record this video for the next video to make any sense. Let me know how you get on with your compass work.

So in all compasses the red pointer generally points north, and the other pointer points south?
@TheBushcraftPadawan3 жыл бұрын
The magnetic end of the needle aligns itself to the local magnetic fields, so the needle isn't actually pointing North as such.

Had to smile when you said, “where your dog stops for a pee.” That would be every bush, shrub, grassy tuft, or giant pine along the trail for “Koda of the ten gallon bladder”
