lol, I grew listening to the sounds of huskys and Yamahas etc. My pop was a dirt biker and occasionally raced enduros in Southern California. We camped out all the time at dirt bike areas. Well, really, back then, everywhere in the desert and mountains was a dirt bike area. They made a movie about dirt bike enduro racing back in the 70s called On Any Sunday. It took me years to realize not every family lived like that 😂

That's a classic movie from back in our days... I miss the old trail riding days me and all my friends did back in the late 70s, early 80s. All kinds of classic dirt bikes that would be so collectible today :)

speaking of irritating dubbed vehicle sounds -- as a teen, I pumped gas for many years at a full-service station, and could identify the sound of every car from its starter noise. You would not believe how many TV shows and movies had car "start-up" sounds that were completely wrong.

I couldn't care less what gear a car or motorcycle is in, unless it's one that I've owned, in which case I know just from the sound and speed anyway. So, I don't count gears in videos/movies. In passenger vehicles, though I prefer manual to automatic, my last manual transmission was in a 1998 S-10 pickup I had from 98 to around 06. I did have a 25,950 GVWR box truck with manual that I kept until 2017, but used extremely little after about 2010. So, now I only drive a manual in my mind, and my current car has an e-CVT which has no gear changing at all. It just appears to, by a computer varying the speeds of the electric motor versus the gas engine. Totally different from a mechanical CVT. Mechanically, it's a planetary gear arrangement not too different from a differential, locked into one gear. For reverse, it just spins the electric motor in the opposite direction! An e-CVT and a hybrid battery is the price of getting 80mpg at 40mph, 61mpg at 61mph, and 42mpg at 84mph. And never having any transmission problems. And climate control for a full night's sleep for 1/2 gallon of gas. I miss manually shifting, but I also can remember when it was extremely painful and almost impossible to shift when I had sciatica 30 years ago. Enjoy the motorcycle riding while you can, our bodies are not getting any younger. I'm planning to have a self driving car by the time my kids would want to take away the keys!
