I didn't know you could change the mirror type Martin. You learn something everyday as they say. I bought the Grand Aero with flat glass when we collected the caravan in 2013. Been using them to this day and never had a problem. Thanks for the info. Rob
@TheCaravanNut5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, you can actually buy the mirror glass and not change the head. They’re great mirrors. Thanks for watching, Martin 😊

Hi Martin, it's a classic case of buy cheap buy twice with caravan mirrors I'd say. When I bought my Grand Aeros (convex) in 2007 I gulped a bit at the price at the time but I knew they were top of the range and they've been absolutely brilliant. I've swapped them between 4 different cars in 12 years too and no problems with fitting them. You need that extra large wide angle for touring abroad too. My advice get these right from the start if you are new to caravanning. All the best Jim.
@TheCaravanNut5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, The grand aero is a great improvement and visibility is much better. I think it won’t be long before I change the off side mirror. They will make our France trip next year an easier tow. Thanks for comments and watching, Martin 😊
@jimevans21335 жыл бұрын
One bit of advice I do have is that I've seen people who have fitted the clamps quite close together on the mirror. My advice is to move the clamps as far as possible out to the edges of the mirror as this makes them much more stable. Even moving them a couple of cms apart stops the mirrors shaking at higher speeds. Just thought I'd pass this on to you viewers.

Another great video thanks Martin. I have a Kia Sorento and I tried the Grand Aeros but, they were too deep and would have hit the the door panel when the mirrors retract. I could turn the auto retract off but then that's not good on a ferry where people are brushing past the car. So I had to settle for the teardrop ones. Another thing I found with the shaped mirror casings on my Sorento was that the clamps pads on the Milenco Aeros didn't seat perfectly. So, I swapped the standard pads for the Milenco V Pads which fit the profile of the mirror perfectly resulting in a far more secure fit. Another vote for Leisure Shop Direct from me too. Their range of products, prices and after sales service is second to none. Regards, Steve.

Hi Steve, thanks for the feedback. Didn’t know about the V pads, Milenco are clearly a company who research & test their products well. I have used Leisure shop direct several times, great service. Thanks for comments and watching, Martin 😊

Hi Martin I use the Grand Milenco on both sides, had them a good few years ( Father Christmas got them for me) they are very robust and good as day I first used them. I apply masking tape to my mirror cases and this prevents any marks to the painted mirror housing. Remove the tape on site as it degrades. Great vid.
@TheCaravanNut5 жыл бұрын
Hi Colin, I think I will upgrade the off side mirror soon, they are far better. Good idea with the masking tape. Cheers mate 😊

Hi Martin, Great demonstration regarding the Milenco mirrors. I started off with the 'standard' Milenco mirrors, but quickly switched to the 'Grand Aero' mirrors. They are especially helpful when towing on the continent! I would never use the standard mirrors again. Jonathan.

I had a set of the standard Milenco mirors, part of the extras when we purchased the caravan. Second time out and the drivers flew off while driving down the motorway. I had only just checked them at the services as I found they loosend off after a while. I have now a set of MGI similar fitting but with the rubber strap and a safety cord. I do think the Grand Aeros are the best but I still would prefer the staps and cord to go with them.

Martin. I have the Milenco mirrors as a pair and find them excellent. May consider getting a convex one for the nearside however as the view from yours looks better as you say. You can get them in the bag with a bit of jigery pokery !!!!! I do. Thanks for sharing another great informative vid. Nick.

Quick Q: why don't people mount the bracket underneath the mirror? Just curious.
@TheCaravanNut3 жыл бұрын
Think it’s personal preference, I have seen a few do it. I did try it but there wasn’t enough clearance for the electric mirror to move freely. Cheers
@johnhowley78033 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, good vid but I am curious how you have found them for vibration. I bought a set of these (flat glass) after much research myself on different brands and am very disappointed with them. No matter how I fix and position them, the vibration is very bad while at towing speed. I contacted Milano for advise but no satisfactory outcome. Would be interested in any other opinion.
@TheCaravanNut3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I haven’t had any issues with them, there is a little bit of vibration but I would expect that due to them being on an arm. It’s not that noticeable when towing at speed. I spaced the clamps out as far as I could to make them more stable and that seemed to work. Will have a closer look next time we are towing, Cheers, Martin

Hi, about these mirrors..Are stable during a drive? I'm looking for mirrors, one option is Emuk and second Milenco, which I can get significantly cheaper..
@TheCaravanNut Жыл бұрын
I believe that the Emuk mirrors are very stable, the Milenco mirrors do move when in motion but you can see what’s going on. Depends on how much you want to pay! Cheers

I think it’s down to personal preference, I prefer portrait as it gives you a good view of the lower side of the caravan as well as the upper. You also get a good view to the side. I would try and see what’s best for you. Cheers
