I think people are too harsh on Nino. The amount of Nino hate I’ve seen is bizarre. Nino was right to tell adrien to truth because Adrien has been manipulated so much by Gabriel to the point he doesn’t even know what good parenting should look like. I feel terrible for Adrien and I wish people weren’t so quick to jump on Nino slander

I don't judge Nino for having suspected that Adrien's dad didn't have a real interest in going to the parent meeting, he even apologized afterwards because he saw that Adrien felt sad.

I remember back in "Guiltrip", Nino did blame himself for not helping Adrien stand up to Gabriel early on. And now, he's trying his best to atone for that setback by fulfilling his promise to save his best friend from his menacing, abusive excuse of a father.

Honestly I don't understand why Alya hasn't figured out that Lila is nothing more than an evil liar? She knows Marinette is Ladybug and hates Lila, so her claims about them being best friends in that interview should have obviously been disproved. I mean seriously its so absurd and illogical.

I think it’s a huge writing issue. I’m going to assume, Marinette didn’t tell Alya about Lila being a manipulative liar because this is ALYA we are talking about. If marinette told her to truth, she’d definitely back her best friendn

Made it easier because Lila rarely even made a stir of chaos for the two to have a chance to talk about this. Kind of hope the show has them confront about it soon because I hate this being dragged out, and Lila seems like she’s going to be causing more trouble.

I did not know that Nino was getting backlash for what he said in this episode...... One Nino isn't wrong. Gabriel is abusive just because it isn't physical doesn't change that; I majored in Psychology in college, and in many of my classes, we talked about abuse and the different forms it comes from, and Gaslighting is a big one. Yes, Adrien still wants to hold onto the hope that his dad is finally there for him and wants because he is scared that he'll lose his family as he did with his mother. Honestly, I love that Miraculous depicts parental abuse that is not just physical because I've mentioned before, abuse can be emotional, financial, educational, gender, and isolation. So I'll give the writers credit for that.

I really enjoyed this video, there is different forms of abuse and most often shown abuse is physical. Emotional abuse isn’t always properly displayed in media but this episode gave me flashbacks. And I completely agree nino was right to be real with adrien. Your parent is someone who is supposed to protect, love, and support you. As a child, you trust your parent to do these things, but not always is that what happens. It’s hard to come to the realization and accept that your parent(s) aren’t doing something for your best interest or well being. I really relate to adrien and this writing this season is fire.

I appreciate Nino. I’m glad my friends were harsh with me otherwise I wouldn’t have known that what I had with my dad and grandma was toxic and abusive. I’m so glad Nino imitated what my friends taught me to Adrien.

Fandom being harsh on Nino, it's weird and not weird at the same time. It shows me that they only look on the surface withoug giving an effort to analyse more deeply. Talk about a lazy brain that doesn't want to bother with a little work to see the root. They see Nino hurting Adrien's feelings - they go and blame him. I wonder if they are the same way with their own friends? Sugarcoating the truth, even if it's harmful in the end?.. I would not want such friends. I mean, it's natural for a friend to not want to hurt their friend's feelings, but a good friend would still find a way to say what has to be said and minimize the damage that this truth will cause. Being a true friend is not a joke or a game. Not everyone can be a good friend to others.

I agree with everything said here and I'm so happy you took the time to make this analysis. There were people who didn't understand what I meant about Illusion being a disgusting episode due to how Adrien was abused. They were like "what abuse"? but anyway I also agree about Nino. I personally don't like Nino but it has nothing to do with this. I think he's a lousy boyfriend 😂 but telling Adrien the truth about Gabriel was honorable. No one, not even Marinette, has had the courage to tell him what it is. But then again, as a girlfriend, would it be better to address Adrien the way Nino did, or should she take the softer approach because she's also told Adrien he needs to stand up to his father although in a less subtle way.

I think marinette in general takes a softer approach but you have to keep in mind that you can be soft and blunt at the same time. Blunt means straight to the point. You can take a gentle rapproach whilst still getting straight to the point which is one we’ve seen marinette do on numerous occasions when she advises Adrien

Considering Adrien is romantically involved with Marinette now and his father isn't approving, Adrien might be more accepting of her telling him his father isn't a good person. He might even be more inclined to believe her since they both would be feeling the consequences of Gabriel's wrath. Adrien and Nino are best friends and see each other in school nearly everyday and since Bubbler, Gabriel hasn't taken much issue with him. Marinette however is obviously very precious to Adrien so maybe that'll open his eyes. Idk 😂

Thank you for addressing this!!!!! This is a huuuuuuuge part of the show. Gabriel has lost his parental rights, which I will probably comment on a later video, since one of my evidences is from a later episode. The only problem I had with Nino in this episode is that he risked Adriens freedom to do this plan. Adrien even pointed that out, however Nino and Marinette strongly believed it was a risk worth taking. Alya, in that scene was attempting to be the voice of reason, which is another reason she is BFF MVP. Now although Nino had that oversight, I would like to commend him on apologizing to Adrien about his comment about his dad. Not because he shouldn't have said it, but because now wasn't the time, place nor way that discussion should be handled. That is a topic you take some time and sit down with your loved ones and discuss the situation; not said in a fit of frustration as an attack.

What Nino said is also true for abuse in general, you have to be blunt with them cuz most of the time they don’t see it and think it’s love and thinks that it’s ok, they need someone to be blunt with them to find out the truth

Great analysis! I didn't even know there was Nino hate what 😭 mlb hate is getting so bad :'( I can't wait for your analysis on Passion!! Especially on Ladynoir and Natalie 🥹 Take your time tho! A lot of people were saying LB's crush was rushed, and while I agree to an extent, I also don't mind it because it's clear that Mari's love for Chat is much different than her love for Adrien or Luka. It took spending time together and trust for her to fall, so she was much more confident and straightforward! Plus the influence of the black cat miraculous really boosted her flirty side 😏👉👈 I do wonder if she purposely ignored the whole "falling for chat equals chat blanc" thing since every episode their strengthening bond made it feel even more impossible for either of them to get akumatized. So it felt all the more heartbreaking when she realized they COULD be akumatized so she couldn't love him in Elation. **dies**

potentially long comment that will include 2 different thought stems basically thoughts about your points: Totally agree with you about him using school as leverage because we have seen it I want to say 2 or 3 times at least where something has happened and Gabe pulls him out of school entirely and it makes it an interesting thing to use as leverage, since most kids dont like going to school, but it works for the most part because Adrien realizes it is the only time where he is outside his dad's "sight" so to speak since Gabe cant control what Adrien says or does while at school. Thoughts about the episode: Overall I really enjoyed it and could appreciate the episode despite having moments where I couldnt help but facepalm a little bit, but was left intrigued about what this will mean going forward this season. -I liked Gabriel trying to be a dad and making breakfast for Adrien but while he still holds the Butterfly Miraculous I cant help but question how genuine he is being. Honestly, I wonder if part of it is Gabe realizing just how dire his situation is where he realizes/acknowledges that if he doesnt get to make his wish that he will die and leave Adrien as an orphan. -Nino trying to still be a hero despite not being able to be Carapace was something I found super admirable and didnt mind him coming up with a plan about how to help. I just wish that his plan would have been different about how to help and that Marinette would have been more resistant to said plan but I get why both characters would think the way they did. Picking Gabriel as a target even makes a lot of sense when you look at it from the mindset of not knowing that Gabriel is Hawk Moth since they have seen how Gabe reacts to things that are not going the way he wants. Plus they had no way of realizing that Lila was even listening and would feed Gabriel that information to foil their plan -As for the Resistance that Nino founds, I again appreciate what he is doing and think he is definitely in the right for creating one but again fell victim to letting people in that he doesnt realize he shouldnt have let in so obviously going forward Monarch will have a way of knowing what their mini coup will be attempting and can try to be one step ahead

I know I'm extremely late to the party, but I want to preface this by saying I don't hate Nino. In fact, I really like him most of the time. He's made a lot of mistakes, but his heart is in the right place. My one problem with him in Illusion is that he actively tried to anger Gabriel without thinking of the consequences his actions would have had on Adrien. Gabriel has so much control over his son that Adrien is the person who would have gotten hurt the most by Nino's actions through Gabriel taking away the things that made Adrien happy: his ability to go to public school, and his ability to see his friends that he loves. When you anger an abuser, they take out their frustration by punishing their victim.

Gabriel did the same thing in Collector when he thought that Adrien lost his book so he punished him by not letting him go to school and grounded him, on top of that it also seemed like he also withdrew ever more affection from Adrien as punishment too even without saying it, it was obvious and he wanted Adrien to know that by smashing everything including Adrien’s picture he made when he was younger

Ya it is so true nino was right here and i knew from start Gabriel was manipulating Adrien . He is a horrible father who just uses his son. I feel so bad for Adrien . Nino wasn't wrong when on s4 episode 17 (when Nino Akumatize was you) he misunderstood the relationship between Alya and Chat Noir. he also has absolutely no idea that his best friend is Chat Noir pas final s4 Nino or that carapace did the right thing. If Nino doesn't give the Shield, Alya will become a corpse. hello it's a big thing that will hit Alya. I'm even grateful that Nino knows that Alya is Rena. it's a reflex protecting his girlfriend from harm like when chat noir saved his lady from akuma in Chat blanc. you know but its dangerous level than that. I don't know about episode 5 because I'm too lazy to watch it again

Which is weird considering that, according to the canon of the show, every time an abstract concept arises in the universe, a kwami representing that concept will emerge. And invisibility *is* an abstract concept, so it could very well have a kwami that could grant someone the power of invisibility. The universe should be full of kwamis considering the many abstract concepts that exist. It should actually be pretty hard to find a superpower that you can grant yourself by using the Rooster Miraculous' power of Sublimation if it's true that you can only choose a power that doesn't already belong to another kwami.

What I don't like about Nino is he beat up Cat Noir with no valid reason it was all out of jealousy and Cat Noir/Adrien refused to fight back to defend himself he was going to kill him and I don't care that he was akumatized he knew what he was doing and wouldn't listen to he truth until Ladybug and Rina Rouge showed him the truth he was way to eager to believe his own imagination and act on it, what I dislike about Nino the most is he told Adrien who he and Alya are as superheroes but didn't tell him why Ladybug gave them their Miraculous' at the same time then he went on telling him that Ladybug thinks he is obnoxious that she can't stand him which is not the truth he emotionally hurt Adrien and that makes him almost as bad as Gabriel I don't hate him I just don't like him he thinks he is always right and he can't keep a secret identity secret I'm glad the writers didn't make Nino Cat Noir's temporary replacement we and everyone would have heard him blab it to others and they would have lost the Miraculous' because all they do is protect each other without thought of how to not get hurt themselves and they get akumatized when he other one is akumatized

Ok, I want to say what I think about the Nino situation: Don't get me wrong, it IS right to call out when someone is being abusive to you. But the thing is, is that this wasnt the time nor the place (technically) to talk about it. It's more the situation, I mean. He got the four of them together not to help Adrien as a support group to open up and talk about the abuse, but to get someone akumatized. So by Nino just saying the blunt honesty at a situation like that felt very unnecessary. Yes, it is to be said out loud, but that wasn't the point of the talk, was it? Also, it would've been different if they had all already talked about it with Adrien, but clearly that wasn't the case. So when he just brings it out of left nowhere, it just seems very insensitive from Nino in a certain prospective. Sorry if the explanation came out a bit odd.

I don’t completely regret the time I spent in the US, but I would be lying if I said I had a great time. To tell you the truth, it was pretty awful but you live and you learn! I took the decision to move back to the UK, for financial reasons and loneliness which lead to mental health issues. In the end, I was cornered but the decision I made was for the best💕💕

I don`t hate Nino in this episode but I do wish that he took a gentler approach maybe he could have said something like "not to rain on your parade, but I suspect Gabriel Agreste has not really changed and it's just a matter of time before he goes back to being the way he has always been"

Spoiler alert... Aku sangat setuju sama kamu mengenai GABRIEL dia nggak suka dengan hubungan Marinette dan Adrien. Itu terbukti di episode 15 dan 18. Aku nggak tahu kenapa tapi aku rasa ada hubungan dengan destruction episode. Tapi bangga dengan my boy karena berani menentang gabriel sampai episode terbaru.
