HELL YES! I KNEW IT! I'VE BEEN SAYING IT SINCE S3! "Adult" powers are about emotional maturity, not physical age. If only they could have actually shown that. I generally try to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, but Mayor Chloe is the stupidest the show's ever gotten to. It's worse than Simple Man, worse than Gabe always akumatizing that baby, and yes, worse than the S3 finale. Facepalming any harder moght have given me brain damag🤦‍♂️

The thing about the scene in Collusion where Adrien is standing up to Gabriel that hardly anything notices but I think is really cool is that Adrien told Gabriel off after Natalie put her hand on his. The hand that wears one of the rings that held Adrien's amok. Adrien (and the audience) was given a taste of how strong he can be when he is able to have his own autonomy.

It is great to see Adrien stand up to his father. We know he is willing to stand up for someone else. It is good to see him stand up for himself as well. He still has a long way to go, though. He is getting a lot of help from Marinette, Plagg, Kagame, Nathalie, and even Felix in his own way. And he is getting stronger, but you can't fix years of not being able to make your own decisions in a few months.

chole's redemption arc was over in the episode Revolution and now she's all alone with no friends especially Adrien. I love how Marinette told her off like that and she no longer has power. the Adrienette kiss was so heartbreaking but at the same time i loved it. Lila finally got what she wanted by controlling chole and she might feel betrayed by lila.

This is the only way that Chloe's redemption arc could reasonably begin. She reminds me a lot of Azula from ATLA. She relied too much on creating fear in others. The only way that she can begin to be redeemed is to have that power being completely taken away.

If her actions have gotten worse, it is because she has been pushed into a corner and she was more heavily influenced by her mom and Lila. Her ability to inspire fear was slowly taken away and she had no other real identity. So she double down to the point of madness until it was all taken away.

Yes, thank you, I do not like how they’ve written André in these episodes. It’s honestly similar to how they did Sabrina: they tried to redeem him while ignoring the actions he has done of his own choice. I especially do not like how he just abandoned his daughter and practically ran away from the mistakes of his actions rather than actually take responsibility and correct his errors as he tried to say. He let Audrey take custody of her, and considering how she was happy with her actions and bonded with her because she was horrible. André knew how horrible Audrey was, but decided throwing Chloé to stay with Audrey is his way to correct his errors?! No, that is just throwing your mistakes away and wiping your hands clean like you did nothing wrong (which is 💩). This is a redemption arc NO ONE WANTED! For stars’ sakes, he is one of the major reasons that Chloé is the way she is! He protected Chloé from the consequences of her actions and gave her whatever she demanded, which helped to shape her as a person today. Yet he is acting like Chloé was forcing her like the narrative tried to frame Sabrina, but that is not the case. He enabled it, even if her demands were immorally wrongs. Ugh, he is like the second worst father of Miraculous! With the mental growth power that happened, I won’t lie I do not like how they did that. Yes, I wouldn’t mind their mental growth be reflected in their power-ups, but having infinite power uses and no time limit feels too OP in my opinion. Part of the reason why there is a timer is because of the Kwamis losing energy, and they were overlooked in this growth. They’re the ones who need to recharge. They’re the ones who are exhausted after the battle at times. While Marinette and Adrien are usually shown okay after the battles (physically) even when they used the Miraculous’s powers. It just makes it feel off because they’re the ones who has the powers that’s being held and used by the holders, and are the ones that’s always shown most affected. Another thing might be because I have a preference when there are limits to magic, like I thought the whole having to grow up to have a longer time limit was on a physical level since their bodies are more grown now to hold onto the powers more. I do like your analysis on Chloé’s rivalry with Marinette and her feelings towards her. I did always wondered why Chloé would hate Marinette the most out of everyone, and your psychological explanation on why definitely gives more context. Although I still wished it was explored why Chloé chose Marinette out of everyone since there were others that were similar like Myléne and Juleka who were shy and timid that she could have bullied for power as well. I guess some speculations to that would be that Marinette and Chloé were in the same class the first year without any of the others, and Chloé broke Marinette down with her bullying, which makes her see as an accomplishment. Although it still doesn’t exactly explain why Chloé chose Marinette out of everyone to bully and breakdown and care about getting a reaction out of her a lot. I just want an explanation, that’s all. This was a well-done video essay, nonetheless, and I can’t wait to see your video essay for Representation. I also wish you luck once more for the upcoming finale next weekend🫡

I’m guessing because marinette represents everything Chloe wishes to be/have. Though, I’d still prefer some sort of explanation like you rightly said. As for Andre, I agree. Whilst I’m glad he took custody over Zoe (it’s mentioned in the script but it was a deleted scene) it still feels weird that he let Chloe leave with her abusive mother…

While I get the scene was important to show André standing up for himself and cutting off his now ex-wife from his life and take in Zoé to give her a better life, the scene still included André pretty much disowning Chloé to her mom and basically proclaiming Zoé was his favorite child and better for him (kind of proving the Zoé haters right, unfortunately)

I like how Andre was written. I don't think it is anything like how Sabrina was written at all. The main difference is that I don't think that the show is pretending that Andre is fully redeemed. He was an amoral spineless person before who had enough self-awareness to know what he was doing was wrong but still abused his power. None of that has changed other than the fact he is less powerful to abuse his power. Andre is still a horrible person. Your example of how he abandoned Chloe is spot on. But, a story can be well written and still have horrible people doing horrible things in it. MLB has lots of horrible people doing horrible things and getting away with it. What is one more? This is completely unlike Sabrina who was never developed as a character and was treated like she was completely redeemed even though she took just as much joy in bullying people as Chloe did.

First of all: this video !! >>> I absolutely agree with all your points. I would also like to add on to your point on Ladynoir growing up. Remember alya said that the only limits the powers of the miraculous have are the ones the holders place on themselves meaning Ladynoir choses to overcome that limit and resist transforming back thus now being able to use their power as many times as they wish. André grabs Chloe by the arm after the akumatization and says he will correct his mistakes as a father, but then leaves her with Audrey which is probably the worst thing he could have done, now she will have even more control over Chloe and may never want her and André to see each other again, so to us it really looked like he just wanted to get rid of her. As usual the writers have a good idea but can't execute it right, André says he wants to fix things but proceeds to do something that will only make it worse.

I don't get why this is bad writing. I agree that Andre did the wrong thing, but just because a character does the wrong thing doesn't make the writing bad. Often it is quite the opposite as it allows us to have good discussions about it.

I think the best way to explain what happened in Collusion would be: 1. Gabriel and Tomoe wanted Andre to use police robots to akumatize them 2. Lila might not had known what they were up to but she wanted Gabriel to use Chloe instead of Andre in order to have a better control of the whole situation 3. Gabriel didn't actually care about who was in charge but since he view Chloe as more manipulable than Andre he decided to akumatized Mrs Bustier to get rid of him and put Chloe in his place

I was sad that you didn't point out the fact that Gabe but his son in a sensory deprivation chamber. Adrien is afraid of being trapped, so he could potentially have a panic attack. White room is a form of torture! Gabriel is actually TORTURING HIS OWN SON! I know that he has shown his descent into madness. But now the evidence is obvious about his ABUSE TO ADRIEN. I know it's a kids cartoon and so Gabe will probably have a moment where he realizes his mistakes and will be given a second chance. But Gabe needs to go to jail. He doesn't deserve to be a father. When the show started, I felt bad for Gabe because he was grieving, and just wanted a mother for his son. But now I don't feel bad. Gabe deserves to go to jail. I don't want him to die, because that gives him an easy way out. Gabe deserves to sit and rot and watch his son be happy from afar without him. If this show was rated for teens, Adrien would probably attempt suicide. It's a good thing that Adrien is determined, and has Plagg as a confidant. Gabe makes me furious.

I love how they can't de-transform anymore because, as you said, it isn't about physical maturity, like being a teenager to being an adult, but their mental maturity. That's where all the development comes from when it comes to people in real life and stories. I love Marinette telling Chloe off and putting her in her place because it was apparent that Chloe wanted to call Sabrina and maybe get some forgiveness. Still, she was too prideful to do so; she tried to bully Marinette more to put herself higher, like always, only to backfire big time with Marinette not caring anymore and wanting nothing to do with her, which is queen levels of awesome. And now Chloe is all alone and powerless like she feared and has to reflect on everything she did and admit it was her fault no one else but hers. The Adrienette kiss.... UNIVERSE, IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK TO LET OUR BABIES BE HAPPY, PLEASE!!!!!!! I will be honest I would've loved to see a scene of Chloe then trying to call the rest of her classmates and half-sister to try to regain the power she believes she still has over everyone, only for them to hang up on her and block her. When she calls "Lila," it could say, "The number you have reached does not exist; please check if you called the right number." I think it would symbolize how much she's lost all on her own, and now there is nothing she can do to get it back because, in the end, Chloe is the one who did all this harm, and there is no coming back from it.

Agreed that it was hard to enjoy these episodes, though seeing Cat Noir's glee destroying all of those police robots was super. As we on the cusp of the end of the Agreste family arc I think that Astruc found it important to end the Bourgeois family arc too, as there were a lot of tie-ins. Having to endure so much Chloé screen time is probably what made these episodes hard to take. Chloé as mayor was unbelievable... As you like to say, it is a dumbed down show aimed at a younger audience, so there has to be some of that to live through. Representation is a great episode and can't wait for the Last Day! The bug is going to take down Gabe hard!

I love your take down of Andre and M. Bustier. I wanted to yell at the screen (in a good way) the entire time. I will defend the show's portrayal of Andre a little, though. Andre has always been spineless and willing to abuse his power in the worst ways because of it. But he has, for the most part, always known it was wrong. The first example I can think of is in S1 in 'reflekta' when he apologized to LB and CN for going along with Reflecta. Andre is not a nice character and he deserves everything that happens to him, but I think his character arc is believable. He is a spineless and for most part amoral person who Zoe helped to change a little because he had at a modicum of self awareness. (This is unlike Gabriel's or Sabrina's arc which bounce all over the place for seemingly no reason other than plot.) Too, your analysis of Chloe is spot on. She is very similar to Azula from A:tLA; she relied too much on fear to hold onto her self-esteem and power. The only thing she knows is how to create fear. What do you do when that is taken away?

Love is blind. Bustier couldn't see the extent of what Chloe was doing, because her love for others, was blind. Mayor B couldn't see the extent of what Chloe was doing either, because of his love for his wife. Why did he do a back-flip in the end? He realised it didn't matter how much he complied, the love he desired from them, was never present. Ergo, love is blind. It was the arrival of Zoey that opened his eyes. As he saw someone else in the family, being treated just like he was. Helping her survive the rejection process, brought young Andre along with him. As he was telling Zoey to follow her heart and never give up on her dreams, he was telling young Andre too. Interesting, we don't see Andre travelling with Audrey and Chloe. I suspect we will see a different dynamic with Andre and Audrey, next season. Ms Bustier on the other hand. Oh boy. Different story. Andre wanted the love of a specific person, and operated in the boundaries they set. Bustier on the other hand, wanted everyone to love each other, so set no boundaries on how love operated. Love meant love, even if expressed as abuse. Scary stuff. 😱

I think these last few episodes leading up to the finale seem to confirm my idea I’ve had a while for Miraculous. The writing team seems to know what they want to do and have different plot lines that will soon tie in together, but they just don’t know when they should happen, how long it should happen, and how it’ll get resolved There is so many ways to fix this show so that it doesn’t feel like an incoherent jumble of ideas being thrown in at on season, which is why season 5 is becoming my second least favorite season of miraculous after season 3. But I think certain events need to have happened earlier in the series or just not at all. It’s more of an overarching issue I have across the seasons and it just feels like season 5 was the one that was hit hardest by it because it needs to end the current storyline.

I honestly didn't enjoy these episodes as much either... it felt weird and rushed. The only parts I did like were Ladybug and Cat Noir getting the 'adult powers' and the Adrienette kiss (even tho I kinda have a love/hate relationship with that one). Ladybug and Cat Noir getting the 'adult powers' was such an incredible overall scene. I don't know why, but for some reason I love seeing the main characters getting a HUGE challenge thrown at them or being in a situation, where it's supposedly impossible to get out of. Even tho seeing Cat Noir show his incredibly low self esteem once again was sad, I think it was important. In hopes of the next season going more into that part of him and making him realize his low self esteem himself, I think the build up is necessary. But honestly I'm too afraid to have any kind of 'hopes' for MLB at this point. The Adrienette kiss. Let's just say I was crying and clapping and screaming at the same time. My thoughts during the kiss *finally* happening: - HELL YEAH FINALLY - Why did they have to make it so sad? - I love it and I hate it - AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - **sings Taylor Swift's song "The way I loved you"** - I will never see this episode for the first time again - Why why why why why why why why why why why - Good for them As you can see, my main thoughts were why. Now I think it was actually the PERFECT choice for their first kiss. Let me explain. We've been waiting for Adrienette to date for 4 seasons now. We've been waiting for their first kiss for 4 seasons now. If it had been a basic and boring kiss in the comfort of being happy, it wouldn't have been as impactful as THIS was. That kiss happened exactly like it should have. Dramatically, passionately, all odds keeping them apart, in love, during a time of feeling like they're gonna lose each other, and with lots of tears. I PERSONALLY LOVE IT. It was sad and horrible, but it definitely served it's purpose and it couldn't have been better. Bonus: I also actually really liked the Chloe arc in these two episodes. It felt like the end of her tyranny era. And oh how I loved Marinette standing up for herself (AS SHE SHOULD). It felt good to finally see her castles crumbling down. Overall I just really didn't like the vibes of these two episodes... idk it's something about the drama and chaos on a totally new level that I was, but also wasn't expecting from MLB. (Also the sending Adrien to London didn't even do anything for the plot right?? Why did that have to happen, for any other reason except Adrienette getting to have a REALLY dramatic kiss)

i actually kind of disagree with some of the charchter changes coming suddenly, andres been apprehensive towards chloe using him since end of S4 and chloe’s mom coming back was HUGE not a small change it 100% makes sense he’d go through that big of a character change especially with zoe coming

chloe is a wasted character, she had so much potential in s3 and ended up being just the bully with no purpose in the show other than causing drama. nice analysis.

You're right about Andre. If throughout the seasons we saw him actually attempt to push back against Chloe for her silly whining then I would sympathise with him but no. Suddenly giving him a pathetic sob story so far into the series is pointless. And yes, Miss Bustier is not a good person to Marinette at all. I can even argue that Marinette's 'friends' aren't really good to her either. The series depicted horrible friendship in my opinion.

I decline both the opinions are true First with Andre yes what his backstory was peaceful Being mayor wasn’t what he wanted He wanted to make movies tell stories become a director make films that was the real him A wife who barely respects him A cruel selfish heartless daughter City Hall City Hall that he never wanted He gave up his dreams and became tyrant dead to impress Audrey and Chloe As for Miss bustier she’s a good teacher do Marinette She got AKoomtite because of Chloe twice She seem like a bad teacher because she couldn’t believe Marinette because of Lila‘s lies But Marinette and Sabrina exposed her And Miss bustiers regretted doubting her star student As well as Marinette‘s friends they found it hard to believe Marinette because of Lila and her lies and now they know they never should’ve doubted their best friend Unlike Lila Marinette cares for her Friends and their dreams
