Marriage? This is the church that forbids clergy to marry. The apostle Paul calls forbidding to marry, "doctrines of demons". I think that called hypocrisy

@@kendaugherty3828 Ken, you are missing so much understanding of the Eucharist. Before the bible was completed, the early Christians practiced their faith for near 400 years. We have the writings of the early church fathers that clearly tell us that they too believed that Jesus was fully present in the Bread and Wine...just as Jesus said! St. Ignatius of Antioch is my favorite. We have his writings to 7 churches on his way to his martyrdom around the year 105. He also uses the term Catholic...hmmm...makes one think...maybe the Catholic Church is our Lords Church. Especially being there were no other churches for 1,500 years later. Take your anti Catholic glasses off for a few minutes...love your neighbor...and listen, because Jesus is beckoning you to see Him...im His Church!

Please do a podcast on why people have a problem being identified as Christian when they were baptized as Christians. Some folks have left the Catholic church because we go to church on Sundays and not Saturday (The actual day of the Sabbath). We celebrate Christmas and Easter on days that were established as pagan holidays, we have statues in the church, etc. This worldly understanding of Catholic tradition is truly frowned upon. It's like a movement and my spouse is part of this movement that is against the Catholic church because he believes pagan traditions have been mixed into the church.

I legit told my sister about how John 6:66 was the one Part of the whole bible where people leave Jesus over one of His teachings and that teaching being the Eucharist, the point being it just so happened to be at 666, and she was like, 'it's just a coincidence' but im so glad you mentioned that cause I believe it to be the divine providence of God, making His case that John 6 is the full truth and that it is the work of the devil that people were'nt able to believe it and left Him

tradition, the sacred scriptures, and the teaching Magisterium of the Church: not "sola Scriptura" (the Bible ALONE). That's the first thing. The second thing is what is known in theology as the "formal" vs. the "material" sufficiency of sacred Scriptures. The sacred Scriptures will often only mention something in passing. The meaning of that event would likely have been evident to the original community which experienced it, but it is left to the teaching Magisterium (the successors to the Apostles, the bishops of the Catholic Church) to interpret the sacred Scriptures in light of the Church's lived experience (past and present: that is, Tradition). What does all of that 'theological speak' mean. There are plenty of passages in the New Testament which "apply" to your question: all of the passages which deal with the Incarnation (the union of the divine and human natures in the person of Jesus Christ), the parable of the Vine and the branches, the teachings of the Apostles regarding the nature of the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church, particularly Ephesians 5: 30-33. It all has to do with the relationship of Jesus Christ to HIs People. Jesus taught that relationship was exclusive (He is the Church's only Savior), indissoluble, eternal, and holy. It is this last mark of the sacrament of Marriage that pertains most directly to your question. Marriage isn't something that originated from the "state" / human government. In the creation narrative in Genesis, it was YHWH / the LORD God who created man and woman, and described the nature of that relationship stating "and the two shall become one flesh". To be married in an exclusively civil ceremony contradicts God's teaching regarding marriage. The couple is, in effect, saying, "We became united by authority of the civil government. To be sure, as far as the state is concerned, you enjoy all of the rights and privileges which pertain to that aspect of our social reality: you are considered married by the state in which you live, you are permitted to file taxes jointly as a couple, you enjoy discounts by your insurance company because married couples are considered less of a liability than singles, etc. However, with regards to the Church what you do in your relationship with the government has no bearing in your relationship with God, whose jurisdiction is universal. If you expect the CHURCH, the mystical body of Christ, to recognize your marriage as valid in the sight of God, then you need to be ordained by a minister in the Church.

Do you want the simple answer or the complex / complete one? Let's start with the simple one and see where the conversation leads. Catholics baptize infants because God includes ALL of humanity in His covenant People in ALL of the stages of their lives, including infants. Baptism is the manner in which Jesus Christ taught the Apostles to admit human beings into relationship with God and to be admitted into the Body of Christ, the Church.

So here’s the problem. St. Thomas aquinas is not considered an authority to a non catholic:/ non catholic Christian’s already think it’s craY that we use intermediaries instead of simply talking with and building a relationship directly with Jesus. They already disagree with elements such as “saints” and “the blessed mother” and absolutely “confession to another fallible human such as a priest”. They also always say “it’s not biblical”. I think of the Bible as the constitution, sans the federalist papers and the bill of rights.. all the docs from our founders that round out the intent to the Declaration of Independence. Alot wasn’t selected for the Bible. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t important. I wish I was better versed. I think that’s where the Catholic faith fails us…In the teaching. We don’t teach how to draw closer to God, how to pray outside designed prayer, nor the full history of Christianity.

I have been a Protestant / Evangelical pastor for 26 years. I am also currently the president of a ministerial association of about 40 churches of various denominations. I have to say I don't know of a single Evangelical pastor who baptizes in the name of Jesus only. All of them that I know baptize in the name of the "Father, Son and Holy Spirit." If there are some fringe Evangelicals that baptize in the name of "Jesus only" ... I've never heard of it.
