The very first time I heard this, I was sitting in my kitchen, completely drunk and high. I had been battling alcoholism for years. This song literally did "Save Me". I broke down there on my kitchen floor. When I felt like I had nothing left and no hope left, it saved me. I had never heard of Jelly Roll before. I'm so thankful to this man and this song. Clean and sober for 2.5 years and counting.

Yes, I was really kinda surprised to not hear that descriptor with the plethora of adjectives she incorporated into this incredibly comprehensive analysis. I feel like he poured his soul into this song and ultimately left a piece of it there, forever. The emotion, impact, power, and especially, beauty are resounding. The religious connotations behind the title “Save Me” while being such a soulful performance seems very significant.

I don't know if it would make great channel content, but I think you might like to hear Manowar. Particularly the album 'The Triumph of Steel". I love that you point out post production and do not flavor the comment as a negative. So many people believe that post production can make any individual into a high level performer.. in the end the talent is real and post layering only adds to the level of emotion for the consumer. Thank you for analysing this song and bringing it to my attention because this song resonated with me and hit me really hard. I feel exactly how this song is written and sung, yet I've been trying so hard to be better. So far as Jelly Roll as a singer, so nice! I feel he projects the pain of the song very well. The song has a simple arrangement within which his vocals are certainly the focus (which I feel should be the case for such a song). The tone of his vocals, combined with the simplicity of the music and arrangement, yields me to feel a very forefront presence in my ears where I feel I need to listen to the words being sung, and I want to listen. That, combined with his vocal melody and phrasing is just eargasm (apologies to any young'ens in the comments section! lol). I didn't know what to expect coming into this video of a song by an artist I had no idea existed until now. However, I'm now a bit of a fan of this guy. This song is delivered so well, and feels not over-produced - it feels more raw and simple. So good!

I'm a rocker so hadn't really heard of this dude until recently; heard Dead Man Walking on rock radio and thought it was really good, so started digging. This dude's country and rap are both good, I *love* this song. Such crazy emotion.

He covered Can't You See by The Marshall Tucker Band ☺️ It's absolutely stunning. Then, Smoking Section & Sunday Morning (Acoustic) are vocally amazing and they are originals. 💜
