Good analysis of instructive games; last one is especially interesting. Verses White’s very flexible Be3 set up, I prefer first expanding on queenside with a6/b5 & Nd7/c5 & holding off committing Black’s Kingside pieces or pawns until White has tipped their hand more as to how they’re deploying their pawns & pieces for their Kingside attack. Also, if & when White does manage to break thru on Kingside, black by developing his Queenside pieces quickly always has the option of castling queenside to escape White’s kingside attack… but that’s rare as usually the Kingside attack can be plugged up.

Many thanks for another instructive Hippo video, Solomon! 💪🏿🦛 The Hippo certainly has more opening traps than it looks! Also, I'm nicknaming the recommended formation at 37:48 "The Angry Angry Hippo," because it's one of our best weapons against early aggressive King-side pawn pushes.

I like it! The Angry Hippo is a nice name!

Lots of great perspective here. Thanks, Solomon. Forget running around desperately seeking tactical advantage. Play solid, positional chess, increment by increment, and the tactical opportunities will naturally unfold before your very eyes! Take care, be well.

Hey Michael, yessir! That (in my opinion) is exactly how chess works. I'm not sure I've ever seen a game where a player effectively keeps improving and improving just to end up not having a tactic sitting there at some point.

G4 pawn push I like it don't be afraid find your answers I do these kind of things and this game your playing right now is really cool and yes and slowly but what I try to do when this is all happening is I slowly move the king the other way but at the right times I love this game your showing😊

Your right about this opening 10 moves can't give you a winning position but you can get a elo factor but other openings 10 moves and less can give you a winning game with all perfect continuation moves no doubt I know I have but the levels from 3200 and down is what I can prove😊

Hey Giant, I'm wondering if you or anyone knows of this clip I am looking for. It was this streamer who looked like a giant, or one of those strongest man dudes, my mind tells me his name was B'jorn but I might totally be making that up. Anyways, he's trying to move the knight to a specific square but can't quite figure it out. So he keeps getting frustrated with himself trying to figure out how to get the knight there, because he doesn't realize he has to move back first to get to the square. So he starts pumping himself up to muster up the intelligence to get it. Always found the clip funny, but I can't find it. I saw Hikaru watch it years ago. I thought you're a giant, he seemed like a giant, maybe you guys do giant things together. haha
