When I was a kid, my dad hung a bulldozer up on a rock once. Balanced it on its belly pan, both tracks completely off the ground. He could really have used a Soviet unditching log that day.

Good job again as I seen that vehicle only on the period documentaries so of course I am very interested! Again it is a utilitarian vehicle yet practical, quite simple to produce and to maintain! In other words an efficient combat vehicle as only the Russians know how to build something that the western countries should well learn how to build it instead of over complicated and difficult to produce affaires! Yes I am sad that that the museum is closing down especially when you can see that it has been collected all those wonderful machines with a big heart!
@redrb26dett3 жыл бұрын
I guess you never heard of Hobart as for complicated lol the Sherman is universal with lots of inter changeable parts for ease of maintenance and repair
@paoloviti61563 жыл бұрын
@@redrb26dett of course I heard about Hobart's Funnies and I know very well the Sherman and it's commonality in order to ease the production producing over 49,000 units, an encredible figure compared to nowadays! In comparison it was produced over 87,000 T-34 and up to 100,000 T-54/T-55 units. Now I see only incredibly expensive and overcomplicated tanks that are very difficult to produce resulting in very low production. What I don't understand is that most of the comments about the German tanks has always been very critical and chastised as overcomplicated but nowadays it seems far worse.....

Are there any remaining ISU-152-2s that have the BL-10 or the BL-8 cannon mounted on them?
@Nukedk10 жыл бұрын
As far as I have been able to find around the web. Then the BL-10 was never used in production, due to failing its prototype testing.
@howlingmadful10 жыл бұрын
The BL-10 replaced the BL-8 and it was only used on a test version of the ISU-152 but the barrel length was unsatisfactory so it was sent back for improvement. Unfortunately the war ended before it was finished so it was never used.
@foowashere10 жыл бұрын
I assume I can't link here, but the Archive Awareness blog has a few good articles on them. If you google 'archive awareness ISU-152BM' you should find the one on the heavy TD's. Just thought it might be worth mentioning; don't know if any are preserved.

I imagine venting the exhaust over the external tanks is actually a benefit, since it would warm the fuel before it enters the main fuel system and then the engine. Then again, as you said, it's diesel. Probably doesnt mean much.

why exactly would it need a horn? seriously...who wouldn't hear this thing coming that a horn would suddenly get their attention
@genericpersonx3337 жыл бұрын
The horn was not to make one aware it was there in the first place but to tell someone to look over at the vehicle so the crew could visually signal with flags or hand gestures. The Soviets were getting better about radios in their armored vehicles in 1944-45, but that didn't mean the sets didn't break often or that a commander wanted all communications to be broadcast such that any Fascist radio-detection unit could hear. A quick thump of the horn, the other commanders in your platoon look your way and bingo, you can point or flip them them the bird or whatever you want.

It’s called a glow plug not a spark plug. Diesel engines do not benefit from spark. The glow plugs basically warm up the combustion chamber To allow easier starting in the winter. Im a diesel mechanic.

external tanks are only a problem for gasoline. for diesel the fuel, it doesn’t ignite unless it’s compressed so leaking tanks or hits by bullets to the tank won’t ignite it

Even if English is your first language, it's a pain, but there's a load of non-English speakers who watch this stuff, who will find it even more difficult to follow. Stop trying to be "trendy", and just deliver what people want, which is clear facts You provide a great service already. You don't need to overlay it with the pish.
