This is a huge sigh of relief knowing that Skillet still stands firm beside Christ. Society has evolved into a system where theres no longer a 'right' or 'wrong, but a 'right' and 'almost right'. I'm so glad John clarifies this point and is unashamed about it. With so many of these Christian artists willing to leave their faith for whats evil, its amazing to know Skillet is still walking with Jesus.

Heavily disagree. I am sure this will come very disappointing, as it has to me, to a lot, if not most of his fans. His songs, while certainly listed under christian rock don't at all represent anything of the kind if you're not religious, as I'd argue a lot of his fans aren't. So this is very saddening.

@JohnCooper and @Skilletband are one of the many influences that brought me to have faith in Christ. I started listening to them right after they dropped Collide. And after listening to them for a few years I found out that they were Christians. That piece of information put a whole new perspective on their lyrics for me. Especially after watching an interview where John was talking about their song Hero, which he said he wrote about Jesus Christ. So I am thankful that they didn't explicitly sing about Christ because I probably would have disregarded them and never started to look for Jesus. God bless them and this world. We all need Jesus.

Ever since I heard John Cooper was approached by a music producer and told him he could go GLOBAL, all he had to do was stop preaching Godly stuff. He denied that offer and, to this day, still makes music for Jesus. John has proven he is a loyal follower of Jesus Christ. Love Skillet!

I don't frequently come across an interview with Skillet, but when I do I'm always pleasantly impressed by how John presents his beliefs on his Christian faith, and in particular, his theological beliefs. So many Christian artists, when asked even surface levels about their faith, give a bunch of really watered down casual statements that leave you wondering if they even know what salvation is about. It's nice to see someone with a large music platform who actually speaks with depth and authority in the truth.

I think that might mostly be skillet’s request. Whenever I listen to skillet’s harder music, I.e. monster and falling inside the black, I’m reminded of when Jesus was eating with the disciple Matthew and how the Pharisees asked why he ate with “publicans and sinners”. While they didn’t say it explicitly, I think skillet’s goal is to reach people that aren’t necessarily born into church, as I had been, or have been around church goers too much in their lives. Music touches many lives, and it draws people together. It’s the perfect platform, really.

Thanks to John for standing up boldly on this issue. At the risk of sounding self-righteous, would it be appropriate for someone to publicly call the CCM industry to repentance? If biblical orthodoxy has declined as much as John says it has amongst CCM artists, then that's a huge deal. I just came back from a funeral and was disturbed by the version of the Lord's Prayer that was to "Our Father, Our Mother." The idea that a father can't be nurturing enough for some to relate to so we'll misgender God shows me how sad things are. I would have never expected this at a funeral given the high risk of non-members being upset by this, but that's where we are with feelings over truth.

A servant of The Lord must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient, correcting opponents with gentleness. I can tell you this being a younger man at this time is not a fun experience. Anxiety, depression, and harassment for standing up for your beliefs are all massive chains that tie you down in this country especially as things seem to continue to spiral out of control towards an increasingly inevitable outcome that many know will not be good for the long term. It can be very difficult to keep the faith and to keep pushing forward.
