CB500X rider here. You are spot on. The fun factor with these Honda 500’s is off the scale. But when you consider, cheap insurance, maintenance, awesome mpg, etc etc and it’ll do 100mph if required, I won’t be back on a litre bike for the foreseeable future.

I'm riding a Honda FTR223, but am starting to crave more power. Do you think it's powerful enough as a long term bike? My city's highway limits are only 100kmph!
@warrenr49 ай бұрын
Plenty enough for me. Zips up to 100 kph in no time and sits at 130 kph comfortably all day long 🙂✌🏻

@@warrenr4 Thank you 😃 I'm also thinking about a SV650, but I watched a guy pushing it on a mountain road and it seems like it's nearly too fast to enjoy the acceleration?! In like a second, he was going from 80 to like 120+, which is a bit dangerous.
@jensenbeachjay4 ай бұрын
@@dauwg99 For sure man! Perfect step up. 100kph looks to be right at 62mph --- which this bike will ride readily. It'll pull ya more, bit don't expect anything amazing... Likely fair pull till 75-80mph, assume top of ~100mph

When you first unveiled it the name 'Blue Bomber' screamed in my mind, and I still think that could be a great name, considering it could be seen as a natural progression from Hondas original 500cc Black Bomber. All you'd need is an old fashioned helmet with the goggles, and a lambswool lined bomber jacket. Retro '50's yeah!

Hi, lovely video. Really. Next week I have a testride with this CL500. I've had more than 25 motorcycles but the last year's I was downsizing a lot. So I just sold my amazing Royal Enfield Meteor 350. I've had it for 2,5y and it was the bike that I have the longest in my possession. Why I change. Well. Just because YOLO and because the only negative thing about the meteor 350 was, that highway riding was a bit on the edge of his power. But I will do some more testrides the next weeks. With this CL500, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, even a Royal Enfield 650 because they will have a 650 scrambler (Bear) soon. But I have high expectations of this Honda and important to me is the fact that it is a Honda and the 5y of warranty. Again great video. I do have one question.....important question actually because I am a cleaning freak 😁 not of the time the exhaust pipes are stainless steel without paint. I think the exhaust of the CL 500 are powder coated black ones. Can you clean this or keep them clean? And how to to so? If I buy a cl500 I think I will put a mid guard enlarger on the front and a mud/Skidplate underneath the engine.

Definitely put the extension on as it puts muck up the radiator, but I’m not one for cleaning too much 😝 mine goes off road now and again

Looks so much like the 1980s CB350sg. I don't hate on this bike, but just send like my 23 cb500f had better headlight, suspension, brakes, instrument and very roomy upright riding position. With a much larger range, less filling up when commuting. I loved those tyres on my 20 plate cb500x, pushed them hard in all weather's as an all year round rider. I know some don't like them, but I thought they were excellent. Pleased you're enjoying the bike👍

I've had a CB500F since August and I've had months of non-stop rain. Agree with all you say,the least powerful bike I've had for 30 years (I've been riding for 48 years now and never owned a car) and it's great fun. Most of my riding these days is commuting and country lanes and it's plenty quick enough and unbelievably light after over 10 years riding a Bandit,fuel consumption is pretty amazing as well,I seriously thought the fuel gauge must be faulty for the first couple of weeks,my record so far is 120 mpg showing on the mpg indicator at a steady 30 in 3rd gear,late night,empty road ,average speed cameras for a couple of miles. Suspension reminds me of the hideous Honda 250G5 "2 wheejed pogo stick" I had and hated back in the 70's and probably it's worse feature but these bikes are made in Thailand where the average local rider won't be much over 10 stone....and I am.......much over. Exhaust note isn't bad at all on the X and living in a built up area and not getting home from work at 11.30 pm I do have a bit of consideration for others. If I was buying new I'd have got the X as it's a bit roomier,or now the CL which wasn't available back then. Name for the CL? How about Celia?

After three decades of litre bikes I "downgraded" to a Rebel 500 three years ago and I rarely had as much fun on a bike. I just dislike the dash and the seat.
