These words speak volumes to how he has built up walls to protect himself from his damaged traumatic past. We have been married 13 years now & I played this song for him and he broke down and cried. Most of the time if not every time the reason an artist looks at another artist so intently like they are studying them or watching them lol, is really just because they need to make sure that harmonies are totally on point. So sometimes you’ll see singers looking at someone else mouth or face lol. It’s especially true when one of the singers is an ad-libber like these two. That’s basically the only reason these two ever looked at each other while singing. It wasn’t romantic at all, so calm down people. They’re both perfectionists, they wanna get the vocals right.

This song is me and my husband all around. We both came from hard backgrounds. Abuse, drugs and alcohol....Abandonment. It was a hard life to get through as children. He was tossed from foster home to foster home, back and forth to the abuse of his parents, all the while being abused in the foster homes. I was just emotionally and physically abused by an alcoholic father who never wanted me, and a mother who would get beaten and leave me behind while she ran from it. It never ended for either of us until we physically left it behind. He was shipped to live with an aunt in my school system, and we met. It was truly LOVE AT 1ST SIGHT for us both! Our hearts melted, we fell in love, and 28 yrs later, and 25 married, here we are! Both of us knowing what it means to break down one another's walls, and let someone in to really, truly love each other! Did we hurt each other some, OF COURSE! We were broken individuals.....But what our raising taught us (if nothing else) is YOU DON'T GIVE UP!!!! We hung in, toughed it out, and made a wonderful life together. I feel so sorry that these 2 couldn't fight harder, and beat their demons. We should pray for them both.....Because I can still hear the pain when I listen to him sing. 😔🙏💗

In reply to those folks who wonder why they broke up and can't make this music anymore, I believe Joy when she said just listen to the new album. I think that they came to the realization that they were soul mates, perhaps, and just fell in love, or got as close to it as any two could dare to venture, when that love is so fraught with complications and cannot be fulfilled.

I’m basically never for straying from marriage but in this case I’d hate to think that two pure soulmates had the unlikely odds of finding each other but simply let it go because they already happened to settle down, do you know if they’re really in love with their married partners? Cuz I think it’s possible to have more than one great love, but if they don’t even love their partners as much or they’re thinking they wish they could’ve been with each other... that might be even worse for their partners’ sakes

This is one of my favorites and I've listened to it a million times and seen the video... And yet, I only just now saw the possible storyline that this song is about them, about their discord. How they've been lonely in this duo ever since the discord, how they want to be let into each other's walls to get back what they had, and yet understanding that there are scars, that they did their time... I am beginning to see that this could be one of the songs through which they communicated what they couldn't just come out and say.
@amberray1179 жыл бұрын
amsaric That's a good theory. I also thought they could be talking about their marriages and going through a rough patch. Joy has not been shy about admitting that at the time when their hiatus was announced, her marriage had been suffering greatly. As to why she has not disclosed, but it's her right to not do so. However, I do believe they had a genuine chemistry that was pretty much out of this world. I'm sure that can't be easy on any marriage, to see your supposed other half connecting so spectacularly on that type of level with someone that isn't you. I believe they could of had an affair, but also believe they could of not had one and that's why they stopped working together. To not cheat on their spouses and preserve the families they had. If that were/is the case, that's pretty honorable and they sacrificed a huge chunk of themselves for their families.
@megatrollificus7 жыл бұрын
I don't know about "affair", exactly. Connection? HELL yes! Attraction? Hard to deny. Physical intimacy? Well, they toured small venues WITHOUT her husband for a while...so the possibility of a slip-up exists. AND, she'd been married for like 8 or 9 years without having a kid, then toured with JP...BOOM! Pregnant. And now no kids since the break up. And in, "I Wish You'd Been the One That Got Away", she flat out states she wanted to go back to when the attraction was only mental, only potential...indicating that at some point, at least once, it became physical reality. So, they did the honorable thing, sad as that is for those of us who loved them together.

They clearly fell deep with each other. They also both had established families, so good on them for breaking apart the band.

This song is so precious to me, it carries my hearts love to heaven , where my darling son Michael will one day be reunited with all his loved ones. I love you for ever Michael. ❤️ Mum

Listen to the song "my December" the reanimation one. Or the original. Yeah its linkin park which is kinda lame but I think it's the best December feeling song ever. Lol even had it in the name for us
