The cooler on Zig reminds me of the show blanket my neighbor used on her Arabian mare. It was the same blue. She looked like Zig but with darker markings on her head and legs. Her registered name was Kalarni Pharippa. We called her Babe. LOL I got to show her several times when I was young. Something changed in Babe when she got all decked out in her finery. She got tall and carried herself like a regal queen. It was magical! Zig may just not want you to take his royal cape off. LOL

If you sprinkle diatomaceous earth on your poop pile every couple of days, you won't get near as many flies next year. Also it aids in worm digestion. So it will actually help your compost break down faster. I used to do that when I had my horses and I hardly had any flies in the summer. You can get a large box of pool grade diatomaceous Earth for less than $20.

A good alternative to a wool cooler is trying to find a wool blanket and using your clips. We used to find them at Goodwill but I haven't seen any lately. I too have an old wool cooler and it is much better than the fleece ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Especially Saint CC.

The best yet, I say that with each share of this beautiful living life and story. It inspired me to reconnect with horses in a more tangible way, and on a winter holiday, we went to a stable and went for a ride. I was grateful they took extremely good care of the horses! I also, am going to move forward with something I have wanted to do for as long as I have been in our neighborhood. A 7 minute walk away are two horses in a corral. I met the owner this year, and she said I could absolutely come over and give the horses carrots. Usually their blankets are on, and I noticed they were off, and I thought, oh goodness, their top line looks a little wonky. So, now that we are dialed in to helping the one elder neighbor and her german shepherd dog's need for getting out for walks and some training, I am going to check in on these two horses. Perhaps I can work up to helping her with grooming them and mucking out stalls. I never see these guys get out of their corrals! She has a small ring. Once I did see her granddaughter riding in the neighborhood.

Christmas Day at 6.30 pm in NZ. Lovely lazy day in summer. I live alone so this year have chosen to have a snacking day rather than a big Christmas meal. Lots of fresh fruit, spreads, breads, crackers , seafood that I wouldn’t usually spend on myself. I can graze like this for a week. Merry Xmas all over the world.

Wow, Ziggy is awesome. Not only is he perfectly calm about such a large covering, he knows that Scarlet is freaking out about it. He's doing everything he can to show her that everything's alright. I have a Horse ElectroGroom that I bought over 50y ago. At that time it cost about $300.00: they are now priced at $1100.00, and worth every penny! It gets the horses truly clean, and I’ve found that the vacuum pulls the blood up, which helps with circulation and gives horses a lovely hair coat. The machine has two motors so it’s possible to use only one when acclimating a horse to it. It’s very easy to teach horses to accept the vacuum because it feels good to them.

I liked seeing the guys jump around too. Love seeing your herd, hearing your explanations, knowledge, learning adjusting, accepting, etc...I do understand about clothes and horse product wants..I used to do art all the time and just wanted art supplies, then a few years ago..got into learning to do food gardening and plant weaving. I used to have lots of time to do things and now where did the all the time go? I too don't want costly clothes, or jewlery, or travel vacations..I just want products that I need, and find the time to do all my hobbies..omg 🥳👏💝🎁

The more I see of Ziggy the more he reminds me of my gelding, Kit (AHA - GH Steel). He always grew a heavy coat, even here in Ohio. We have two big seasons here; spring mud and winter mud! Kit took advantage of both, he preferred a piebald look rather than just his base coat of white. You'll have a blast doing a short endurance race, there's nothing more fun than going fast on a trail - enjoy!
