pearl´s story is so much more heartbreaking than you allow it to be shown in your videos. i really hope she pulls a nigel and gets to enjoy your love and care for at least one or two years. she deserves to have at least one summer with a full belly at all times and the sun shining on her old bones. i admire you for not dwelling on what your horses have gone trough but just going forward doing the right thing for them no matter how hard it is, or how much work and money that means. you are a very special human being. and i wish for you, for 2025 and beyond, to achieve all your goals and dreams. hardly anyone deserves it more than you!

A rabbit showed up in my yard a few years ago and followed me as I puttered in the beds. She kept showing up for several days and would allow me to pet her. At about week two, I noticed she had watery eyes and was somewhat lethargic...Long story short: she was suffering from a sarcoma in her jaw and couldn't eat. Could it be that like Pearl chose you, CC, the rabbit had found me to care for her last days. I believe that was true. Blessing upon you CC and your loving heart.

Loved watching the ermine...and how Nigel makes it crystal clear, how annoyed he is by your presence in his kingdom ( it never gets old for me). Although primarily what you do, is predominantly a thankless job of keeping the horses fed, clean and comfortable, it isn't work if you are full of love for those under your care. I appreciate EVERY pitchfork you lift, every bale you toss and every face they make , as you scratch the best place. Just sharing it all with us, your viewers, brings me the greatest joy. Thank you CC for all the hard work, given with love, to all under your care (guess that includes your mysterious husband, who stands by you). I know he's a tiny, efficient killing machine, but I love to see him...I hope he and Tiny stay far apart. The story of Nigel does give one hope for Pearl, but regardless, as we are all aware, caring palliative care is a gift that so many of these animals don't receive after giving their entire lives to humans who don't value them enough. Pearl deserved better from her previous owners. Sending her to the likely kill pens without any concern for her makes me so mad. I don't have horses but I would never abandon my dogs or cat due to age or illness. Owning an animal comes with responsibility to do the right thing not just squeeze every last cent out of them😢. Sometimes I just don't like people🤬. Luckily she has found you💐 Hopefully 2025 bring you joy.

Totally agree. It blows my mind that this old girl just had a baby pulled off her, too. I’m in a few horse subs, and honestly- there’s quite a few who will recommend euthanasia before putting an old horse into auction. It’s heartbreaking, but the reality is they’ll more likely to be a target for kill buyers. There’s not many who can, or have the ability, to provide the care CC does. I always think of that sad fact when I watch her videos 😭 just so thankful to watch the journey and care she provides.

As a child we kept a gelded donkey called Peter, who was included in a batch of donkeys from Ireland. They were going to be used to give children rides on the local beach in Exmouth, Devon, UK. But Peter was too old and too short. The Craddocks who owned him offered him to my parents for free as he was no use to them. We kept him in our apple orchard along with Pluto who was too old to have foals anymore. A couple of old pensioners having a lovely life. But Peter would get bored and escape taking Pluto with him down the lane. Now and then they would get into farmer Slade's hay barn. Who was not happy. He was known for not having a good temper anyway. We would have to get them back. They always looked very well fed when they got home. We would spend ages grooming them, the minute he was done Peter would roll in the mud again. He loved being a 'piglet'. He really enjoyed pulling a little donkey trap, (kind of two wheeled cart). But only for little trips down the lane. He must have been trained to do that in Ireland, he was about twentyish. His age was a bit unknown. This was in the 1960s/1970s. We had them for a long time.

I’m not giving on Pearl yet. She has been rebounding beautifully.❤❤❤

My hope for the New Year is that many more people discover this channel. CC provides so much good advice about what it takes to be a responsible horse owner and the time and effort it takes to make it work.

Pearl seems happy with you, and I hope that she gets to be with you for a long time. Ziggy seems very proud of his young padawan, she's learning the ways of the filth force. Turd toss should be an Olympic sport. 😂

That was a big gaggle of geese; glad you caught them! I’m so tickled you saw Mr. Ermine again! True dat, he’s not very well camouflaged right now with your weather. I LOVE to watch Pearl responding to your grooming; she’s enjoying it so much! Love your words: “I’m happy to provide her with the care she needs”.

People are still hassling you about putting Pearl in a stall? God bless you for having the patience to answer this question over and over again hoping that someday it will sink in lol. I believe the horses taught you that, at least, that's something they've taught me over the years! She is looking fab, and so relaxed these days. Others may be in a hurry to change her world every day, but the reality is she seems to finally be at peace with all the food she wants and gentle care with few demands. Thank you for giving her a safe place to land, rest and retire.

I love your herd! Ziggy trying to blend in as a little brown cow pony 😁. Scarlett rolling - she trusts you so much! ❤ - and those joyous little jumps afterwards! Pearl looking so content despite her state, enjoying her grooming sessions with such a happy face. What a sweet horse she is! ❤ The boys on the pasture, enjoying their scritches (or not yet, in Pete's case...) and getting spooked by a tiny but fierce predator. Stewy trying to hitch a ride on the turd mobile 😁. Nigel always showing what a STUD he is (the "little pony palace" got me rolling though 😄👍❤). Frisco free-ranging (I hope he will feel better soon! ❤) Prim being such a beauty - no wonder Nigel has a crush on her 😉. Tiny is such a vocal and cuddly cat, and I love how she plays with you. The ermine is hilarious (these rascals are incredibly fast!) Great music choice 😃👌❤. Happy New Year and all the best for 2025 to you and your loved ones! ❤❤❤

I've never been around horses but when you were grooming Pearl it was obvious she loved it. Nigel is feisty as usual and Tiny is such a sweetheart. All the others seem to be waiting for snow. Best wishes to your family and the crew for the new year🎉🎊

Ok, I am always amazed when anyone questions your methods:: even I could see that Pearl was not in any condition to go "out with the herd". She is too weak.....I am sorry 😩abour her prognosis, however, I am so grateful to you for caring.....what a beautiful heart you have. Namaste'

Pearl is so sweet natured and definitely seems very contented and happy. What on earth where her previous owners thinking breeeding her? Its so heartbreaking to think of what the poor girl endured giving birth and feeding a foal. How she found the energy to endure labour says alot about the poor sweetie. I'm so glad you found each other and hope she has some time for you to enjoy each other. I think we're going to see a new Ziggy next year, cant believe his new confidence with scarlett! Hopefully he ll hold his own with the boys now. All the horses are looking well and happy. Wishing you a happy and stress free new year.🎉

I can't believe someone bred Pearl at her advanced age and then tossed her aside once the foal was weaned. They should be ashamed of themselves! Ziggy and Scarlet make the perfect pasture mates! Love seeing all the horses so content. ❤

Nice roll, Scarlett! Love seeing Ziggy and Scarlett being sassy. Dear Pearl. Deworming her will help with her nutrition. I’m sorry you got bad news for her, but she looks so much better on your refeeding regimen for her. … perfect bobbing music for your little ermine there. One less mouse for Tiny to catch. Pearl on her grooming: yes, yes, right there on my neck! Keep scratching. Good old extra planks in the barn. ❤

Your kindness is beautiful to behold, and it reminds me of the basic goodness in Americans, especially the rural folks, something we don't see much of in the news. Pearl, Nigel and Ziggy especially warm my heart as their retirements could have gone another way. I hope you have a wonderful new year CC, you're leading by example, which is the most powerful way to change the world for the better!
