I've realized the problem here. Most of these actors are okay when they're asked to say things in a normal, level, conversational tone of voice. It's when they're asked to do ANY OTHER EMOTION AT ALL that they fail. Hard. :|

I hear that since most who would buy this game in America would just play it in Japanese anyway and the ctranslators were required to dub it the guy just got family and friends to do it to save costs. And so a miraculous creation was born.

Hayatemaru's VA actually nails the "loud dumbass best friend that just causes trouble" vibe, it's hilarious. Also, i'm pretty sure 6:13 was supposed to be sarcastic, but of course there was just no context for the VAs at all.

@Spydrfish LOL, according to Wikipedia, they only got family members to do the voice acting instead of hiring professional voice actors, so I guess that guy was voiced by the granpa of the family. xD

Princecid I tend to give the voice actors a break. The production couldn’t didn’t budget enough for professional voice actors and instead of producing the game without voice acting (as originally intended), they insisted on using their own children to voice all the roles.

There's a theory that went around that Sony forced the company who put the game out in the US to create an English dub, so O3 Entertainment just went the cheapest route possible and got friends and family to dub the game because they knew that the audience who'd be interested in the game would switch to the Japanese dialogue anyway.
