For the lcd connector or any connector on any switch model, I’ve found that heating from the bottom is better because it melts the solder without melting that plastic and is safer than breathing in plastic fumes.

I also use no flux as well and it seems to work just fine, it completely avoids getting flux inside the connector

Yeah definitely is a better option to heat from the bottom, personally I do like to use flux though just to make sure I get nice solder joints every time

The best way to work with fpc connectors is use infrared heat, reball stations are very handy for this type of work

@@RealDixonPeter I agree, and I do have one (ACHI IR PRO SC) but I don't trust it with a Nintendo switch given how thin the board is. I would personally rather do it from below the board

Phil, i work for a console repair company in the U.S. and i had a work order for a bunch of repairs to a switch Lite with the same shell mod! thats too convenient. there must be a "technician" thats "modding" these for resale or something?! crazy! there were tons of shit wrong with it, but i did get it functioning. but the screen ribbons were all jacked up too.

Cheers mate. Sadly not, because if I change it that's one more thing I've got to take responsibility for and since the port technically works I didn't have any real justification for replacing it, so I would've been doing it for free but having to warranty it anyway

Quick question..... I"m repairing a job lot of switches and switch lites off ebay. I have one that had multiple faults I have it booting and everything works EXCEPT the sound down button. It was the sound up button at first, i replaced the button board connector twice and it switched to the volume down button now. I can't see any damaged pins and I checked each leg. twice.... is there a filter or tiny cap I could have knocked near that would impact this???

Get a set of needle files for taking the lip from the usb ports , they're inexpensive but I couldn't watch you trying to clean it with that blade nearly making it X rated lol

Good to hear mate, I like to show my mess ups because it makes people realise that it's OK to mess up here and there as long as you make it right. I could've just blamed the other guy and charged for a new one just as easily but that wouldn't be the right thing to do. To be fair I don't follow any sports (I assume that's the colour reference lol) so I don't really think of colours as team colours, I just personally don't like the combination lol

Sent my sons switch of to Nintendo to be fixed for second time by them they sent it back not fixed and when I called to ask why they said a wrong screw was put in it and warranty was void.. It was new bought and I never touched it..so left with broke switch.. Don't no if you could fix it
