@MirceaD282 жыл бұрын
Here is a tip for you. I always leave a small signature on what I do. To make sure the returned item is done by me. Place small sticker (one time use only type) on the screws.

Trick I use to get pads to sit flat when u need jumpers is to use a sharp spike tool or the back of a soldering knife tool to gouge a line for the wire to sit in, it can just give you that fraction of a millimetre to get a better fit...
@solveit13042 жыл бұрын
My theory is that you repair board 3 months ago, they replace motherboard and try to get other board repair under warranty. If there is some barcode / serial number on the board you should note them. If customer will return item to warranty that got different motherboard, you can go to Police station to report fraud.

Yup I get thee in all the time - I would just wiggle it and it would charge, now it doesn't - When they tell me anything like this....You already know!

Loving the videos You really need to start taking catalogue of device serial numbers or get yourself a set of mini QR stickers to stick on the device when you work on them. It may seem pointless but it will avoid any doubt and also allow you to warranty your work effectively with tamper seals to show if the boards been out. Just a thought.

Fantastic video Phil mate as always. I think the customer has gone to another technician cheaper than you and got exactly what they paid for. I hope you don’t think I’m out of order Phil
@TheCod3r2 жыл бұрын
To be honest after speaking with the customer earlier today I don't think she did. The way she explained it was that it could've been dropped, but she did mention something about trying to fix the port so I'm not sure
@andrasszabo73862 жыл бұрын
I don't always use jumper wires to repair solder pads. There are copper pad strips available and they are really cheap.

I have seen that issue with the ps5 myself ...the ground plane by the hdmi soaks up soooo much heat ...I have just started switching to a large chisel tip and holding it on the port legs till I'm positive solder has fully soaked through

How do you know that someone hasn't done a board swap and then sent it back under warranty or tried to say that you worked on it before? Do you put a mark anywhere to know that you did work on it?
@danialgavin20472 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should keep records of what repairs you actually do and a photo or two
@TheCod3r2 жыл бұрын
I do but only until the warranty period is over
@CiderPang272 жыл бұрын
Omg, the solder job on that port is awful! I’ve done a few of those myself and not one looked like that, if it’s not perfect it’s not going back.

You might like the ZV-E10 a bit more. It’s pretty scalable and available used for around that goal. Kit lens that comes with is as good or better than the baked in one on the -1
@jedstanaland28972 жыл бұрын
You might want to invest in some ultra fine soldering paste you would an easier time with your soldering then using an iron. When I was in the military we would use it even when we technically were not supposed to because we could basically put it on and run a heat gun for a few seconds and then we would be done. Alternatively you could also use an extrusion soldering iron but those are something that is very hard to use without lots of practice.

I fixed my stick by blowing in it a little bit. Wouldn't it be worth a shot to just blow some compressed air under the little rubber thingy under the stick?
@yoyomismo20522 жыл бұрын
This is why I say mark the board repaired use a simple date and some initial to have what is change from you, is easy to move the board to another case and say is in warranty repair for free. Protect yourself from scam. 1/1/22 Bq (changed Bq chip) for example. Now people buy stuff marked "for parts only" For nothing and try to get rich. (This is why more "for parts only" Have a hole (drill hole) in the board some people gets mad when recibes all off stuff and is impossible repair but is listed "for parts only" And you have parts a lot of parts.
@mattw34062 жыл бұрын
I don't get how people jack up their stuff so bad to begin with - let alone keep paying for someone to fix it as it has to cost more than the what the device is worth..

Yeah it confuses me too lol

Murphy's law: whatever can happen, will happen! When you repair a customers Laptop, Switch, PS4, etc, do you keep a short record of what the problem was, diagnosis, & actions taken? Thanks with your skill & expertise, you wouldn't leave flux like that..
@TheCod3r2 жыл бұрын
Yeah generally, but after 3 months I remove the record because I don't want to be responsible for data leaks. As soon as the warranty is up I remove the info from my logs

You don't use Amtech flux? What do you prefer to use?
@TheCod3r2 жыл бұрын
I personally think AmTech is overpriced and overrated to be honest with you. I use Kingbo RMA-218. It's cheap, does the job and it's no clean so doesn't technically need to be cleaned off in order to keep the board safe. I've used it for 3 years now and it does just as good a job as Amtech does :)
@sarfured2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCod3r I've been a user of Amtech ever since I heard about it from people like Lewis Rossmann. I'll have to give Kingbo a try!
@hutchings20232 жыл бұрын
Do you think that was tech damage or poor repair attempt?
@TheCod3r2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, the customer said she never went elsewhere but did mention the console could've been dropped from a height (bunk beds) with the cable plugged in, which would explain the damage

Why don't you do what us watchmakers do and using a bit of blue sharpie create a small area and using a scribe put in codes for items changed or service done and your setups initials which down the line will aid you if you get it back but also if someone sells it on and another place picks up on the device, knowing your initials they can buzz your email asking what codes mean what so they don't end up repeating stuff that don't need doing.

Helloo, hi my names and I’ve had an accident with my PlayStation and a ferret of mine tried to grab the cord and pull and it knocked my PlayStation onto the ground and it won’t turn on since I’ve been very panic and sad about it as the console has a lot of sentimental value I’ve had no luck in getting it fixed locally I’ve actually gotten charged for a console they didn’t even fix and have been hopeless since if you even reply I would be the happiest person on earth i used it everyday it feels like a lil bit of me broke because my dad did his most to get me the console when it came out and I just had to ruin it I’ve contacted any and everyone and have no reply i can get money for the fix I just need some reassurance or some hope I guess sorry for the bother I just really have no other options please get back to me it would bring me to tears I’m not skilled enough to open it and the local reapair shop didn’t open the ps4 so it would be a fresh console to open sorry to bother again I just don’t know what else to do :’(
