In this video we show how to install new brake pads and rotors on your 2012-2016 Honda CRV (Gen 4) This is a rear brake job but the process is nearly the same on the front and on the other years.
Rear Pads and Rotors - amzn.to/3wo0zJF
Front and Rear Pads and Rotors -amzn.to/3ZUs9vC
High temp paint if you dont want them to rust again -amzn.to/3wo5quw
(We didnt paint them buy we should have)
Brake pads and rotors are wear and tear parts and will wear out over time. Its usually cheaper and safer to replace both the rotors and the pads at the same time. My grandmothers rear brakes were rubbing and pitted, sounded like a freight train.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2012 Honda CR-V
2013 Honda CR-V
2014 Honda CR-V
2015 Honda CR-V
2016 Honda CR-V

That plug is how you access a great to adjust the parking brakes with a flathead screwdriver. It has to be done with the brake disc/drum on, because you adjust the gear up until the drum is locked, then back the gear down a certain number of "clicks" according to your model and year (my 2011 was 8).

I highly recommend cleaning and lubricating those caliper guide pins at least one per year on all of your vehicles. I used to have that same problem every time I changed my brakes. They also were causing my brakes to wear out prematurely. I never have that issue anymore, well worth the time in my opinion 👍

Absolutely agree. After about a year they start to get sticky and do not glide back-and-forth like they are supposed to. You would think with the rubber boot dust caps and ceramic brake pads that there would not be an issue, but I guess it breaks down from the heat.

Nice video...some of the things that you can also do while your wheel is out is to drain some of the old brake fluid as ur pressing in the piston on the caliper which will get rid off any air bubbles in the line. Also I lube the pads on the edges where they make contact with sliding inserts to allow for better travel and reduce sizing. Keep the videos coming.. cheers.

Thanks for the tips, you open the bleed valve and then press on the piston?

@@thecollegepicker Exactly.. attach tubing, making sure it's pointing up so that the fluid blocks the air from returning back into the system, than drain the tubing into a container... works great and improves the brake feel. I do all this while the caliper is still mounted to the car as to keep everything level and allow for all the air to leave the system. cheers

Almost the same as the front rotors except these have emergency brakes in the back. For the life of me, I cannot fully seat either the new rotor or even the old rotor back onto where it’s flush metal the metal so I can put the screws in. Do you have any ideas?

It is a JIS Philips head and from what I have learned, it is best used on those type of screws. They do have an impact version.

I am using a JIS that I ordered on Amazon and unfortunately I’m having the same problems with my screws being frozen. I’ll try some more but I’m afraid I’m probably gonna have to drill these ones out as well.

I use a hammer like this all the time on the wrench to break free bolts and fasteners. I see no harm in doing it except for possibly marring the tools. That's how air impact tools work, correct?

What is a crescent wrench? A crescent wrench, also called an adjustable wrench, comes in a range of sizes, from 4 to 24 inches (10 to 61 centimeters). A crescent wrench has one fixed jaw, while the second jaw can move left or right. The adjustability of the crescent wrench allows it to be used on many different sizes of bolts. What does a hand impact driver do? What Is an Impact Driver? A hand, or manual, impact driver is a tool that can be used to remove any screw, but is incredibly helpful when trying to loosen stuck, tight, and even rusted screws and nuts. Where is the high temp brake grease for the pads? The rubber plug that we all were watching you forget that you don't know what it's for is actually the hole to adjust the drum parking brakes, Duh.

Do NOT put any grease or lube on the end of the bolt with the dust boots; it will prevent the pads from moving equally - one will wear more than the other. Whenever you spray a can upside down, only the gas comes out and not what is in the can... that is how to clean a tip on a rattle-can of paint.... Bro, get a set of metric / english sockets....
