I just want to say that I really liked the endstep for this video. I loved the kind and understanding way that you guys acknowledged the people who disagree with you on some of the issues being debated. I don't mean to be overly mushy, but it was just really heartwarming to me to see some people (people who I look up to) talk about this stuff without having malice and spite for people who don't agree with them. I just don't see that a lot these days and I think it's awesome that you guys are kind and "thoughtful" :) enough to do that! No, you're not. Once you have this guy out people just won't attack you with more than one creature anymore. They gonna swing the biggest thing at you and spread the rest. The problem is that your opponents get to choose if you draw cards. Casting multiple spells though is so fundamental that you definitely are drawing cards off of that.

I fail to see how “my opponents swing at me with one big thing instead of multiple big things” is a bad thing. Sure, you aren’t drawing cards, but Mangara isn’t supposed to be a white card for drawing cards, it’s a white card for discouraging your opponents from casting multiple spells or attacking you with multiple creatures.

58:38 I think that is because it's a set focused on Teferi. Barrin was his teacher. Niambi is his daughter with Subira. And they gave both a effect that is related to Teferi and the Tolarian Academy.

Barrin seems great in yarok. Bounce something you want to reuse and draw a card as well. Also gadrak is basically a mono red version of smothering tithe. Creatures are always dying in commander so it seems like it will net you a few treasures at least. "I bolt your dork, get a treasure" "Fiery confluence, I'll get 5 treasures"

right but the cards they were showing had changeling, to include the instants and sorceries because they were tribal. Rin and Seri doesn't say when you cast a dog/cat creature, it says when you cast a dog/cat SPELL. So what they were describing would still happen and they would create more dogs and cats. Then, the cards they created would still affect the activated ability which I think is what they mostly were talking about.

Mangara is good in superfriends because then they want to attack you Planeswalkers.

Mangara is realy good to support every strategy, you make me think about mono-white superfriends. If I will build a mono-w superfriends deck, I prefer a commander proctect my planeswalker to make the most value possible like token to block or tax opponents attack, or a commander who restrict the number of spell player may cast per turn (this one doesn't exist yet). I think just one card draw to be attacked is not enough value to be the commander but great in the 99.

Just color shift Overwhelming Instinct and Symbiotic Deployment (Remove Skip your draw step though) both of these cards focus on community and have the essence of white mana in them. You could also substitute the draw a card with the classic white, "if an opponent controls more lands than you search your library for a plains card and put it onto the battlefield tapped".

@55:20. TLDR; Combo. Longshot, but have Cloudkey, naming artifacts, Kaervek, the Spiteful, and Heartless Summoning on the field. Play either Myr Retriever and Scrap Trawler, which are free due to Cloudkey and Heartless Summoning and then die due to Kaervek and/or Heartless Summoning. When they die, they recur the other card from the graveyard. Repeat ad infinitum, get a card that gets value off of infinite ETB/Death such as Blood Artist, Bitter Ordeal, or Altar of the Brood.

I'm guessing you're playing a token deck; if you're also in white there's Anointed Procession (the white version of Parallel Lives), Hour of Reckoning (a board wipe with convoke and that ignores tokens), Intangible Virtue (enchantment that gives all your tokens +1/+1 and vigilance), and Divine Visitation (enchantment that makes all new tokens you get into 4/4 angels with flying and vigilance). I have a Ghave deck that does all kinds of mildly silly things with tokens.

Trumpet Blast works just fine - it's an instant, so you can play it after blockers are declared. Shared animosity also seems nuts in a deck that plays lots of token generators.

Mangara is a mono white lifegain commander through and through. They have to attack you with multiple monsters to keep your health down. He provides card advantage and has lifelink.

I'm very excited for Subira! I run an Iroas, God of Victory deck, and using cards like Assemble the Legion, Leonin Warleader, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion to create small tokens, and then Iroas giving them menace and protection allows Subira to draw you a ton of cards I think. Peer into the Abyss works great with Teferi's Ageless Insight and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. If Teferi's and Jace are on the battlefield you can just instantly mill yourself

They can give White card draw that still keeps it true to white. For instance, they could make a card like smothering tithe but instead of creating treasure, it could create clues. Investigate could easily be put in sets and commander precons since it was a major ability in SOI block.

I think a good way to build Subira is to run things like Amplifire, or things that grow at the beginning of combat (Lavakin Brawler comes to mind); you start with them being low power, then they become evasive for 1 mana, then they hit for 8+ damage

worth noting about Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge: y'all didn't mention that he also counts creatures your opponents control dying, so plays like Blasphemous Act -> Gadrak can let you end the turn with a ton of treasure from wiping the board!

I can't believe you didn't mention Jolrael partnering with Sensei's Divining Top! Top in upkeep, draw it after and re-play for 1 so it becomes a Pay 1: make a 2/2 on your turn. If you combine it with flash (Josh's Orrery for example) it is a cost 1 draw that can trigger on other players turns meaning any opponent's turn you can set up a single draw you can now pay the 1 to make the 2/2.

Because it's an instant, you can cast trumpet blast after blockers are declared. The creatures would have had 2 or less power, so they can't be blocked, then you pump them +2/+0.

Worth noting: I believe the changeling ability functions in all zones, so changelings (including tribal instants and sorceries with the ability) will trigger BOTH of Rin and Seri's cast triggers, giving its controller a Dog token and a Cat token.

The way you build a fun Mangara deck is by going with all the amazing white and colorless planeswalkers. Because people almost always attack a planeswalker. I’ll build a deck and share it to you on Twitter

So Josh, Jimmy, you forgot one of the best mono-red artifact commanders in the game: Daretti, Scrap Savant. Build it right you can Slaverlock the entire table round after round, you can run stax with it, you can run a stompy artifact build, so many possibilities with this - and it makes Hellkite Tyrant not need to attack to win you the game, while I'm mentioning it.

Gadrak is pretty impressive, esp cause its the first deathtrigger on red i can remember and than ofc it has to be a treasure so he can replays himself if he stays long enough. Also you still can play your red pingers, bold like effects, artifact deck or a goat deck, so he is the second best on my list if you play him as a commander. And black/red sac-decks have now even more mana fix xD

I feel like mangara could have been really cool if it synergized with the main white strategies. Life gain, tokens, etc. If it had an effect like " pay 3 and tap: draw cards equal to the number of 1/1 tokens you control" or "if you gained life this turn draw cards equal to half the life you gained this turn." Just spit balling here
