This whole plastic surgery trend is insane. It's become so common that when i went for a consultation the surgeon wanted to make sure it wasn't coming from insecurities. I got an eye lid reduction at 19 because i had only 30% of my field of vision and could barely see without holding my eyes open. Surgeries that are used to help because of something like that are ok.

Things like that I totally understand, or doing something like a nose job because you've broken it in the past and can't breath right. But plastic surgery should be something you can't notice, something that looks natural.

If I was going to be a plastic surgeon I would only do cases like yours, where an actual medical problem exists. Cosmetic surgery should be for reconstruction or corrective for actual issues. I saw a guy on botched who had gone in because he had a severely deviated septum, first doctor just about destroyed his nose-he just wanted it fixed because it was causing severe migraines to have airflow so limited. People who’ve been injured that need reconstruction? That makes sense. Breast reconstruction after cancer treatments? Makes sense. People who have issues like yours that just happened naturally? Makes sense! But to just feed into this ideology of “perfection”? I couldn’t do that. And when it’s done in cases like yours the patients are usually much happier with the end results-cuz you aren’t looking for “perfect looking eyes” you were hoping for the ability to see without your eyelids blocking your vision.

I kid u not I know multiple college educated men who think Kylie Jenners glow up is just “natural aging”. Men expect women to have a super flat stomach with a fat ass and a thigh gap when realistically if you have a fat ass you also have thick thighs and probably some extra stomach tissue bc u can’t just gain or lose weight in one area of your body. I think a lot of women feel like they don’t really have a choice because they have to live up to the insta baddie standard that men think is natural.
