Bit of extra knowledge to help your point, hulk had an alcoholic father that was very abusive to his mum and him, in the comic he's still scared of him and he is the hulks biggest true fear in the world, buse was also hurt by people around him, So we're saying mean being rude and dick ish makes peo3 anger yer and more upset than an abusive father who tryed to kill you and abused you for your entire life. The problem with all these female super-hero stories is not the fact that they are female. It is that the writers insist on making every female super-hero story arc an effort to prove "she's a strong independent woman who don't need no man!" Honestly it makes me mad. I love writing books, particularly ones with female leads because I can write them easier. But the best female characters I have(as told by my friends) are those that are not only willing but actively work with their make peers while still proving they can be strong by their own merit. The saddest thing about it is that She-Hulk is actually a good character in the comics. She is quirky, funny and breaks the fourth wall much like Deadpool -- she's basically a saner version of him. They had the potential of creating an interesting female superhero that breaks every norm there is but instead they used her to further their agenda. It breaks my heart to see the characters I grew up reading being used like this.

Ironically the feminists of the past turned down equal rights. They wanted only the benefits of being equal, without any of the disadvantages like being drafted, no longer being just a housewife, losing alimony or less favored in receiving it. Maybe 4th wave feminism is different than their predecessor? I don't know a single person that is against complete equal right between men and women. However, I've only ever seen it as them trying to gain power and feel superior to men. Especially in the more vocal, radical feminists that are doing it due to a disgruntled past relationship or has a history of only dating the same type of men, and projecting the attributes of that previous s/o on all men. Probably in 10 years the movement will die down, and resurface twenty years later, forver on repeat.

Bruce had a bad father that abused him, he’s had to deal with the hulk for years and even if he gets the slight bit angry, the other guy comes out and that can result in peoples lives at risk with the hulk running around. What's crazy is that the implications leading up to Bruce's tests is that she wasn't fully aware of her powers. Which implies she turned on those guys to attack them knowing most men don't actually fight back. Or she did know and was going to hurt those guys put of petty revenge. I subscribe to the idea that her Hulk form is a different personality. Basically, everyone that gets changed by gamma energy becomes the persona inside themselves. Leader has a superiority complex with his intelligence. Doc Samson wanted to be a superhero. Abomination sees himself as a monster because of all the things he's done as a soldier. Bruce is afraid he has his dad's rage issues. And She-Hulk is the popular and extroverted girl she wanted to be instead of mousy Jen Walters that even her own classmates couldn't recognize when standing beside her.

Imagine having to fight against a society that hates you, while dealing with childhood trauma and suicidal depression, and someone tells you it is invalid to them having a few annoying people. To those who went through suicidal depression or abusive relationships, saying be catcalled is worse is to invalidate everything they had to go through, which isn’t the left big on “validating each others experiences”?
@lucifernazaedi
@lucifernazaedi 2 жыл бұрын
The left’s stance is “affirm everyone’s feelings” not validate as many mistake. Validation is actually good for everyone because yes, all our feelings are valid. They are very real to us. However, that doesn’t mean they are right or even true to reality. That’s why it is good to challenge those feelings rather than affirm. That’s what the left hates. If Jennifer were more aware of what Bruce went through, and if the script acknowledged how rude and apathetic she was being, I wouldn’t be so upset about her invalidating what her cousin went through. Like, yes, being catcalled is a bad experience, but saying what Bruce went through wasn’t worse or not even realizing his struggles _existed_ is straight up narcissistic, and the script is written as if we are supposed to agree with her words and actions which makes it bad writing and horrible character development.

And we can go to Bruce's scenes in the first half of Avengers. Like, boo-hoo, people think you're unhinged if you get angry. Meanwhile, Bruce has people point guns at him when he scowls. And the Bruce has to control all of his emotions. Anger, fear, lust. Pretty sure it's established in the comics that part of Hulk's hatred if Banner is Bruce's own self-loathing. So when Hulk calls him "puny Banner", that's partly him repeating what others call him, like General Ross's disgust that Betty didn't fall for a real man that could protect her.

This is not the character from the comics. Comic accurate Jennifer Walters was a wallflower, too shy to get noticed by anyone. Then she gets to be a She-Hulk and goes full party girl on her off time, getting her into trouble. The character then has to steer back towards the middle ground where she can be likeable. You want a strong female character? Make her flawed at first, learn how to get better, and then finally able to get good, then make a big mistake that makes it worse, then overcome that and win in the very, very end. Don't make her whine about the fact that life isn't fair. Nobody likes complainers, men and women both. It isn't a gender thing. It is a hero's journey thing.

In the comics "She Hulk" was a stand out character. So much so, that I felt, character wise, that Marvel actually had a hard time trying to fit her in. Great Character that has yet to find her place in anything other than be a supporting character, because the writers simply do not know what to do with her creatively. It seems to have carried through to Television, and they just made it worse by making her a babbling incoherent character that's hard to believe she is a confident and collected professional like she was in the comics. Jennifer Walters of the comics accept the idea that she would be targeted for unwanted attention, she was Tall, and Green, and both were permanent facts of life with her. So she was a essentially a hero by circumstances, and another fact she grew into. Situations often just "found her", even normal situations like defending Daredevil when he was on trial thanks to the Kingpin. She was the "meta humans" first real legal advocate in marvel since she clearly was a Meta Human (that I am aware of.) The new show just tosses all of that out in favor of making She Hulk into some sort of trendy Iconoclast, and CGI that makes Jennifer Walters look like some sort of blue collar girl struggling in the construction business rather than being a classy high paid lawyer.
