As a police officer serving in a rural area of the UK, I’m fully aware this happens. I’m also dealing with calls where people are saying they want ‘something done about someone offending them on Facebook’ or some such nonsense. I tell them to not go on Facebook anymore, and not call again as they have no right to not be offended by something, especially if they chose to view it. But this Communist government we have is making it very hard to apply common sense, want everyone who isn’t as left-wing as them to be branded far-right and the entire justice system is swayed this way. I can’t serve the public like I used to and am being instructed to persecute them instead. I’ve avoided it so far, but the clock is ticking and 2025 is the year I’m looking to move on before my integrity gets forcibly taken out of my hands. And I could potentially be sacked for this post. I think they used a similar playbook during the colonial era. If someone said something like "I'm not sure about British occupation. Wouldn't self governance be a wacky idea?", I think there was an impulse to condemn such things as irresponsible or inflammatory - where implicitly the person making the decision painted themselves as master. It was their role as being superior to make decisions. But it was paternalism in support of an agenda of control. And it's likely that thoughts of freedom were in fact dangerous in that scenario. So stability and enshrinement of power were just the adult thing to do. It seems like overreach. Like people who are used to regarding themselves as nobility get off on jailing people. Is paternalism in support of the empire repulsive, but fine in support of niceness? An authoritarian impulse is an authoritarian impulse, right? It just seems like moving from "you can't say that. It's irresponsible." to "You can't say that. It's not nice" seems like you've mostly just dressed up your fascination with control. However, let's say that the UK is a powder keg. What would that mean? Would it mean that the leadership classes have lost a lot of the public? I think the UK has blasphemy laws. If it was the 1930s India, then maybe writing a screed denouncing hinduism might have produced a riot and gotten a hundred people killed. It's a difficult cost to wear. But if there's a similar urgency about blasphemy laws now, that would imply that people have arrived in the UK and not been given an induction that included "If someone says something mean, don't riot". If the uk is afraid of their historic citizens, it seems like they should try and govern by consent and have spent the last 30 years trying to win the public over. The options on who the UK government is afraid of are 1) people of english/welsh/scottish descent or 2) the range of newer arrivals have added to the requirement to desperately lower the temperature. UK could have spent the last 50 years making sure people were employed and resulted in a situation where people of each race, religion, creed etc were unified in swigging tea and singing God save the queen. Does the political establishment have to admit some failures or do they just get to arrest people and never think "gee, I wonder how things got to this point?". Watching things like that judge being a pompous ass in a wig making pronouncements didn't win people over?

I am not a UK citizen, I am Portuguese, but I've been watching this situation unfold in Europe as a whole (except for Poland and Hungary, to my knowledge) but the situation in the UK is dramatic. Our "leaders" are replacing us in our own countries with people from the third world, and they're getting advantage of taxpayers money, boosting up our crime rates and you're labeled "far right" if you say you want these people out of our countries and given fees and prision sentences when you defend yourself (with limited means I might add) against their violence ( E.G. A Danish 17-year-old girl who used a pepper spray to fight off a rapist was told SHE would be prosecuted for carrying the weapon.) On top of this, the European Union, who's desperately trying to make Europe the United States of Europe, is striping countries of our sovereignty and basically governing us ALL from Brussels and is in an open war with Elon to censor X, so the people wont see what's really happening since none of our mainstream media covers anything about what I just said. We hold everyone acountable every 5 years. We just held the most incompetent selfish government in generations accountable in an election they richly deservrd to lose. going to prison for making a comment is not ridiculous depending on the comment. make a comment that some muslim has raped a white 12 year old and giving their address for istance when in fact there is no evidence what so ever to support that is a criminal act likely to result in serious injury or detruction of property and you deserve to go to prison for causing that just as much as any brain dead thug that believed it and acted on it. Get real Tom. going to prison for saying you don't like someone or somthing is not criminal and you should not be jailed and people aren't being. don't make the mistake of believing anything on here without Checking evidence, no matter how much you think it might be true. there's hardly a single TRUE statement on this etire post including the context of half of what Brett said in the clip, context is massively important.if you're 19 that means that for half your life the tories have been running this country and you've been being told this country sucks! so who's fault is that then?

🙄 No one is going to jail for a simple comment. We have strict broadcasting and communication laws where it is a crime to make a public broadcast or communication that incites hate and violence. The actual issue is, should social media posts be held to the same standards as public broadcasting and news media?
@Jess_ica29274 күн бұрын
@rubybuttons668 I guess it depends on what you count as "inciting hate and violence" right? The left would argue that saying men can't become women is doing just that.

Thank you for making this video Brett, if we did it, we could be locked up for it. One of the things i love about America is how patriotic people are (most people anyway). I have a big England flag (St George's Cross) hanging on the inside of my window and when I first put it up I received a letter from the council asking me to take it down in case it offended any non English people. It stayed up and a second flag went up in another window!

Thank you for covering this! I still can’t believe I’m living in what feels like a dystopian country. Great Britain no longer feels so “great.” While the petition for a general election won’t directly change anything, it’s a powerful display of public dissatisfaction. Nearly 3 million people have signed it in just a few days. That’s about one in 22 people in the UK.

@keithwarrington2430 Wasn't that actually it was the fact that most people just wanted the previous government gone at all costs but felt like they didn't have any other viable options than labour however now that more parties are gaining more support people are calling for another election as they now feel like they actually have a choice.

There was a stabbing on London Bridge last week. Around 100 police attended the scene, 2 people had head injuries, 1 was stabbed and 4 people arrested..... The police took people's phones off them, got them to delete content and all the cctv in the area was both deleted and disabled. Then they claimed it was someone had a heart attack and that's all that happened.

To be fair. The UK never had much going for it. It always was a wet rainy dump. And Britain' default political position has always been authoritarian. I guess English people are just more susceptible to it. Hence the UK keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. They keep electing these governments. Personally, I think UK people are too spineless and used to being crushed under the governments' boot to actually do anything against it. History has shown this time and again.
