As an obese woman, I hate the fat acceptance movement so much. I needed a long time to accept that I was unhealthy and this year I started to do something about it, because I started to be so miserable with myself that I couldn't stand it anymore. And yes, my doctor telling me that my pysical and mental health issues are all linked to my obesity was an eye opener as well.

I was obese a few years ago and my physical and mental health suffered horribly so I lost weight, about 60lbs, now I eat better and exercise regularly. It's not easy but the benefits are amazing and I honestly feel like a new person. I found a lovely woman to be with, I cut the grass at my local church for exercise and try my hardest to eat properly but yeh it's hard work. Being fat was easy for me but life isn't always about easy is it?? Keep up the good work, you'll get there eventually and feel better for it👍👍👍👍👍

Congrats. The thing about humans is, we won't change until we reach that mental point where we just can't take it anymore. I believe the people at AA refer to it as being, "Sick and tired of always being sick and tired" The problem is, often people don't get there till its too late. I'm really struggling with that myself (tho, with things other than weight). Keep up the good work :)

Totally agree with that like sometimes you need to take a few steps back to make a leap forward. For example I left my current job throught I "found" my career. Which turns out so I quit that job and went back to my old job (which is my current job) and I have now found my dream job which is to become a butcher. Which I am now in training for

These days failure is something the left wants to remove. They don't want people to fail as it makes them sad and feel bad, if something makes you sad or feel bad then it must be bad. Therefore doing anything you can fail is bad, therefore improving yourself is bad.

For the no-spend tiktok I agree that it will get you pretty much nowhere. I've personally found it's much more effective to instead setup a "cooldown" period to reduce impulse buys and FOMO purchases. Basically if you see something unnecessary that you want to purchase especially something that's ~5% or more of your monthly income and/or ~10% of your total savings wait for at least 3 days before allowing yourself to purchase it. I found myself often forgetting about the item or realizing I didn't need it during this waiting period. This includes items on sale.

No one's actually saying makeup = taking care of yourself. If your social circle or your preferred content creators are making you believe that, then you need to be around different, more mature people. There's also a reason natural look and "no makeup" makeup is so popular for a while now. Taking care of yourself is taking care of your skin, hair, getting enough sleep and ect, and that's exactly what the majority is promoting rn.

I think she was talking about changing long term spending habits and changing your mindset vs. trying to do it for a month, it probably depends on the person but I understand her logic. One month of trying to spend less money isn't going to help a lot of people who are prone to spending too much money, especially if they've never thought about it and wouldn't be able to just suddenly spend less, like you were able to do. It doesn't automatically occur to them what they want vs. need.

I was raised by 3 sisters and a single mother. Two of my sisters were models and beauty pageant girls whatever. I had more beauty products in the bathroom than my wife when we got married because I was raised to really care about how I presented myself to the world. Then after homelessness heroin addiction and living in trap houses without running water I've gotten to a point were I look like trash most of the time and I am not nearly as happy as when I would wake up shower shave lotion up my face blah blah blah. Like I'm in therapy right now with the stated goal of getting my morning routine back in swing. Not gonna lie though it's nearly 1pm and I'm just getting up. But I was blown away that it took me 6months to find a therapist that instead of helping me overcome this failure complex I developed and gnarly depression would say things like "why do you think you need to be successful to be happy" shit like that. Until I found one that was like ok you used to be a small business owner married with a home and several custom vehicles and then you got caught up in the world of addiction lost It all and now you want to rebuild. Ok got it let's fix this.

This is important. In my weight loss journey (50 lbs) one of the BIGGEST things that really powered me through it was guilt. Whenever I messed up and ate too much or ate something unhealthy, the feeling of guilt and failure light a fire under my ass to compensate for it and go harder with my change of lifestyle. The issue is these new generations want a safety bubble for anything that doesn't feel great. And you need balance in your life. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and if that good thing is unhealthy foods and snacks, you do need to feel something negative towards it. Be it shame, guilt. It makes you own up to it and gives you the opportunity to make a change.

It's better to compliment childrens' actions because that is something they have control over. So take charge of your life and develop discipline, you will find life will be better. I'm 21 as well and am going to be a clinical psychologist, it's gonna take hard work, dedication, personal responsibility (extreme ownership, and discipline. The thing these tik tokers don't get is that you are not owed anything, it's up to you to get it, to get after it. My childhood was so similar to Coopers. I grew up homeschooled and was always told I was talented and smart and whatever, and my parents always praised my personality, but never called me beautiful or pretty or anything of the sort so I didn't care, I was also a "tomboy" or dressed very "masculine" according to the world. Baggy clothes, raggedy shoes. When I turned 13 and I started.... growing. I asked my mom for a training bra bc I was insecure of this new development. She wouldn't allow me to because "no one cared", asked if I could wear makeup she said 13 yr old's who wear makeup are just trying to get unnecessary attention. yet by the age of 15 I was "flaunting" because I hadn't ever worn a bra, and I was seen as a possible lesbian bc of the way I dressed and because of the fact that I had never worn makeup. That's when my mother finally told me I needed to start acting like a girl. This made me angry and I felt like I had to prove a point, that when I wanted to look pretty it didn't matter but when the world expected me to, I was supposed to just do as I was told, so I still dressed grunge, I still acted a bit more "masculine" Until I realized, if I want to look good, what's wrong with that? We are all beautiful. Maybe not stereotypically, but wanting to look your best for *you* shouldn't be a bad thing. Now that I'm 18, dressing in a more girly way, my best every day, and wearing a bit of makeup my mom says I care too much about how I look and that I'm focused on the more unimportant things in life, because I like to look my best (in order to feel my best) every day. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WANTING TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF Now as a woman who used to battle an*rex*a, I can say, yeah sometimes skinnier isn't always healthier but now that I overcame that, and reached my peak weight of 130 after being 95 pounds from ages 11-16 I can also say, that, eating right when trying to obtain that "skinnier version" of yourself isn't all of it. You cant just stop eating anything more then 900 calories. You cant just not eat and feel like you're gonna get healthier, take it from a woman who tried that. I now eat around 2,000 calories a day (The recommended intake,) after only the only thing id eat all day was chips or something small for the longest time, and with the better eating, I also started to be more active, and its not to get skinnier its just focusing myself on being healthier. Try that mindset instead.

Yep. I could argue that a month of crash saving might produce willpower fatigue (if you get to the end and you're twitching). But it's probably simpler to point out that if you can debug your habits, then you can maybe get better results that would accrue 365 days a year without having the cost. As advice goes, "Don't spend" might ameliorate the short term issue, if it doesn't rise to "Learn to budget and take stock to see where your money is going".

Agreed, a lot of people take it to not make purchases they otherwise would just to forget they wanted to purchase something, so at the end of the month they have more cash. Huge success, right ? Later that year, they remember again, buy it and end up with the same money they would have had on an initial purchase, rinse and repeat every year. I took what that woman was saying more as an "if you don't have enough money, instead of just 'not spending' actually take the time to see how else you can go about it", which could mean a lot of things and cascade, like if i didn't get a pay raise in forever, then my resolution might be to prepare for a negotiation with my boss and eventually doing it. If i work below market value, applying somewhere else might be a thing if my current employer is not willing to spend more. And if it (or part of it) really is "make a conscious effort to spend less impulsively" then that is okay as well. The point is, fostering long term changes is always better than focusing on a month or any other arbitrary time frame. So, just to make a bridge to the usual suspect, think: Instead of going to the gym every day in January, how about you use January to set up a sustainable workout plan, look into healthy meal prep etc etc. If you need a particular time frame to kickstart that process, that is absolutely fine imo, although i wouldn't advocate WAITING for January to make it happen ;)

I live in Idaho! Absolutely love this state. I don't have very many social platforms and find it pretty easy here to not have one. Also I love your videos and agree with you on this, new years resolutions should just be a constant practice in your life. Its great to have goals but doing it daily is better than just at the beginning of each new year.

My aunt and I debate all the time and she was saying that “good” isn’t objective because it’s a value term. The topic was physical health and fitness so yes it is objectively good to eat healthier and exercise 😂

It is soooo hard to sit down and do nothing fam! I think that's mainly because some people are just made higher in conscientiousness, as with the other of the big 5.

After binging your videos, I just found out you are 21 years old. You are very well spoken and wise beyond your age. I applaud you! And I also thought you were Ben's little sister, and I had to look that up too 🤣🤣 he is a very smart person as well, so I hope you take that as a compliment. I enjoy your content, and I wish you the best on your content creation success! I am subscribed and watching to support you!

Fun fact: the pumpkin spice latte has as much sugar as *19* Krispy Kreme donutes. NINETEEN. And those donuts are full of sugar! So if you want a pumpkin spice latte, just get one krispy kreme donut and boom. You’re good.
