As a Millennial, I hope the one thing we can learn as a whole, is that we shouldn't hate on future generations. We get a lot of hate, some deserved, most not. But the last thing i want to do is treat the next couple of generations the way we were treated as a whole. I also want to leave the world better off for them than what was given to us. Sounds lame, but I'm just being honest.
@TheCompanyMan
@TheCompanyMan 7 жыл бұрын
Youre just being a Millennial! There's nothing lame about not hating on people while handing them a bag of craptasticness. I hope for the same, Jeremy. Thanks for checking the video.

@robtertmaller8214 7 жыл бұрын
Kinda on topic with what Jeremy said, I wrote my college essay about generational gaps and how it's destroying society. It involved anecdotal evidence of showing my dad Hell Of a Life because it sampled from Black Sabbath. Ofc, he didn't like it, but he didn't hate it because of the overuse of the n word or how Kanye is a crazy person that only stupid millennials like.
@TheCompanyMan
@TheCompanyMan 7 жыл бұрын
HAHAHA @ "Kanye is a crazy person that only stupid millennials like." That sounds like a fun essay topic, though. I've been researching this stuff for a while as well. What reasons did you argue as to why or how they're destroying society?
@robtertmaller8214
@robtertmaller8214 7 жыл бұрын
college essay, so its basically limited to 500 words. also gotta make it look good for colleges so i more or less talked about my self and experiences and added a "revelation" at the end that if generations mix and share culture with each other society will bond together and peace and all that. so not a lot of substance to respond to your question sadly however, the best I can say is I talked about how I hate the incoming freshman class and their annoying memes and shit. But once I got to know them I made some great and funny friends. I talked about how while baby boomers also call out millennials, i did the same to my own generation for no reason (which you talked about haha).

My favorite part is the obvious hypocrisy when he says "Alright kids, we're gonna talk about gun control" after decribing how he would kill a guy. I know it wasn't exactly Kendrick's point, but I think that's a mindset a lot of people have nowadays. They're anti-violence and anti-hate, yet they will use violence and hate whenever they deem necessary.
@TheCompanyMan
@TheCompanyMan 7 жыл бұрын
As the Handmaids Tale might say "Praise Be!!" Ha! that's a great point. I crack up everytime I hear that part. I feel like that's what our elected leaders do all the time. I feel like athletes when they get in trouble do that. I feel like I have homies who cheat on their girl complaining about their girl cheating on them. Hypocrisy is everywhere and he captures that so succinctly it's amazing. Thanks, Billy.

Thank you so much for the shout out!!! Millennials are the hardest generation because we are persistent about questioning the status quo. We're also a mixed bag. Most of us have experienced life before and after the internet as we know it. Some of us haven't, and that may be why there's some criticism within our generation. However, I just said to my best friend last night that Millennials are smart as fuck....... and WE ARE! We've been able to change with the times. My parents still haven't learned that google is their best friend lol. I am excited for the future; Millennials care a lot more about everything because of the internet (shout out to Gambino ;) ), and I think it's going to be a very interesting ride. Ab-Soul said the DAMN album was for our generation, and I agree. The topics covered in the album touch on the variety of subjects that we care about. AND THAT COACHELLA SET WAS CRAZY CREATIVE!!!! Side note: I wrote about Kanye in my 10th grade American Literature class. The assignment was to write about a song that has the american dream as the subject (my teacher was a HUGE Bruce Springsteen fan). For me, it was between "All Falls Down" by Kanye and "Juicy" by Biggie. I chose Kanye because it was more relatable, and I got an A on it. It was one of the best papers I've ever written. I wish I still had a copy.

@Flyy Science You seem like a very surface level kinda person and Google is not your best friend. It tracks you, is known to filter bubble results & invades your personal information & privacy. DuckDuckGo & Qwant are your best friend & I'm 16 but it doesn't matter because my mind is older.
@KeiiVice
@KeiiVice 5 жыл бұрын
@@emanatingf Needlessly adding negativity to something that was a bit encouraging in the first place does not denote an older, mature mind. You're still a kid and there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't be something you aren't.

This channel is legendary. Quick note: i viewed the second part of XXX as a critique against himself. kendrick has shown he is very self aware ("where was your antennas" on "U"). and can self critique (like 'misusing his power on' "these walls"). To me on "XXX", kendrick is calling out his, 'preachy' or 'ivory tower' messages. It's easy to say to be non violent when your not in a violent neighborhood anymore. It's easy to tell kids in Compton that 'guns arn't cool' when you only visit Compton now. On "XXX" Kendrick is admitting that if he was in the same situation -like his kid being killed, he would engage in the same cycles of violence that he lectures people to resist. Maybe he's backing down from his 'gang bangers are hypocrites' and 'how can we(black people) expect anything (not to get killed) if we dont respect ourselves' rhetoric he had during the To Pimp a Butterfly cycle.
@TheCompanyMan

There's a great piece on Ambrosia For Heads that cosigns a lot of what you're saying, but spread out across the album. I can definitely see your theory fitting this song. It's not too far away from what Kendrick described in the zane lowe interview, even though he didn't go into super detail on this track. I tried to be careful as to not say that Kendrick was intentionally speaking up for millennials, as much as the way he describes the things he talks about also have parallels to the challenges facing this entire generation and the doubt we receive from those before us as well as within ourselves. Regardless, K.Dot's too deep.

The Company Man Yes, I love the breakdown and the parallels you made to Millenials. For a while now, I have always stated that I don't see myself as a Millenial or that I believe there is a generation gap between the older members of the generation and the younger ones. When I look at someone's mannerisms who is 10 years younger than myself and those who are around my age, I don't feel as though we are in the same generation pool. The breakdown you did, and even when you stated that Millenials are the most hated generation and that Millenials hate on our own generation......I was like, "Wow, that's me"! Definitely made me step back and reevaluate some of my thought processes. I am a proud member of the "HARDEST GENERATION ALIVE"!!! Sidenotes: save net neutrality K dot goes the hardest

Hey Justin, been watching you for a while on HipHopDx and now here, got to say you're one of my favorite hip hop analysts on the internet right now, and I always get excited to check out your videos. This one was no different, AWESOME think piece. If you ever need any ideas for videos or really any help whatsoever, I'm always a message away, for what it's worth haha. Thanks for the incredible content, have a good one man!

So glad I'm on this channel before it blows up. Loving the new content Justin, still some of the best analysis out there. Glad you have your own space. I will say though, there's some audio hiccups with your cuts. You're getting some half words that aren't getting properly cut off when you jump to a clip. 3:13 as an example.

Mr. Hunte makes me proud to be a millennial. You made so many good points, I LOVE your passion and thoroughness in your debates sir. Your arguments are well researched, and articulated superbly. And, it doesn't hurt, that every time I give a counterpoint to your argument, you make the same point in your debate. Thank you, again, for these expanding\expounding expositions sir.

OAN as far as my thoughts on XXX..... You left out my fav quote, "Ain't no 'Black Power' when yo baby killed by a coward!" and my fav visual quote [as acted out by Samuel L. Jackson in A Time To Kill], "Walk myself to the court, like, 'Bitch, I did that.'"
