Sad life, he was a great athlete, a famous excellent singer and a nice guy. He lived a long productive life. I worked in a place where he did several concerts - He treated everyone with kindness and respect. A real gentleman.

I am watching from Papua New Guinea and do admit that Charlie Pride was a sensation here in the 1970s and 80s in his unmatched country music styles. His vocal and tone won many people here and I was one of them including my late mom and dad. RIP Charlie and you have made your day.❤❤

My favorite song is the day the world stood still it's my ring tone on my phone. I love all of his songs! I b was lucky enough to see him in concert in Houston at the fair grounds or whatever you call it. He came out on the back of a tractor!

It was not a sad life nor tragic ending. He is in the CM hall of fame and reached the highest echelon of country musicians as a black guy in the 60's and 70's. His life was amazing. He died in his late 80's. That is a good life by any standard.

Exactly. I'm a 65 year old white woman. I grew up listening to his music. Not one person I was around ever referred to his skin color. We all just loved his music. It was real country. That's why we all loved him, just the same as we did George Jones, Johnny Cash, and many many more.

One fine gentleman who I could listen to his songs every day. He over comed many challenges from a noble background of the slave trade. Thank god he became a musician, an excellent performer, especially entertaining all nationalities worldwide proud of his roots, making country music for all generations to come. Listening to him helps me with my mental health and emotional well-being issues and mobility issues. I just want to dance in my living room or in my head. My favorite country singer. Seen him at the Coliseum back in the 70's with my Mom, Grandma, Sister and me. It was a great show. Dave and Sugar was with him. I will never forget it. Beautiful Memories. RIP CHARLEY.

I was born in Ky in 1962 and I remember my early years as we listened to Charlie Pride records all the time. I never knew what color even was , let alone cared. All I know was I loved to sing along with the records.
