Because when he sings especially when he is dedicating the song for someone or a tribute for someone who just recently passed away, he is giving his while passion and emotion to the song as respect to the owner of it. "Spain" was first done by Chick Corea, Al Jarreau did an excellent cover of it, and Gary Valenciano follows the Al Jarreau style of singing and scatting.

You are right about the energy. Here in the Philippines we call him "Mr. pure Energy". He is at his best when he takes to the stage and sings and dances to upbeat songs. Probably one of the best dancers. He does pop songs mainly but also gospel, and some rap

He's definitely personable and humorous. A faithful and humble man to be sure. He loves music and creates/sings great songs (though about half of his composed songs and albums are more on gospel). I don't mind if he's not the most impressive voice in the industry, his heart is always in his songs and performances and it communicates to the listeners' heart. That for me is a gift that can never be learned technically that's why he's an artist that is so dear to me. And all-out performer. He's a good mentor, manager and producer to many Filipino artists (both big and starting). Katrina Velarde was one whom he discovered back when she wasn't famous and has small exposure to mainstream media. She worked as one of his backup singers. So when Katrina made it big and got concerts of her own, Gary occasionally graces the stage as guest artist and performs with her. As for the instruments, he knows piano, drums and wide range of percussions - Harmonica, marimba, chimes and usually congas on his concerts where he dances along while playing it. Dancing. Almost never not dancing lol good thing his energy is almost always full. That wish performance is understandable. I'm even more surprised he didn't stand up mid performance to dance 😂

Gary V has a nickname that was given to him in the 80's/90's, "Mr Energy". He was also diagnosed with a rare form of diabetes at the age of 14 and was told he would die within 30 years. That was almost 40 years ago

1. Eyes were not closed, but, looking down. 2. First indicator to engineer was to increase headphone volume. Second indicator (the one where you thought he couldn't hear himself) was to increase Compression & Reverb which, had you a better ear and not just eyes for presentation, you would have been able to discern. 3. You have a "degree in Jazz music"? Really? Plus you call yourself "The confident singer". Not a title you truly ascribe to yourself - probably an aspiration. As to the degree course - I would suggest you ask for your money back.

Every movement, melody, and musical element is based upon the original classical guitar piece by Aranjuez, adapted by Rod McKuen in his poetic rendition of "The Wind of Change". Chick Correa, and all others who came after and adapted this arrangement of "Spain", should have referenced Aranjuez and McKuen because the melody is simply too close and makes me very uncomfortable listening to this and Correa's performance. Having said that, Valenciano is a good performer.

Thank you for pointing me to this piece of music and the story behind it. I agree Spain is clearly based on this and now it gives me a better, deeper understanding of the song, even if the lyrics Al Jarreau wrote for it have nothing to do with the reason why it was written.
