I'm not ashamed of how this took me 30 minutes to whisk by hand. The result was amazing.
@LanceElot4 жыл бұрын
when you do it manually, put less water to make it faster. The trick is gradually adding sugar to wet coffee. Sugar will instantly make it harder to whisk with less water. Add more after the sugar in the container gets dissolved. This way, you'll also use less sugar, if you're concerned about that. We used to have 15minute breaks at work and it would usually be enough time to make, vigorously whisk between chatting, and enjoy a good cup of hot coffee around the lobby table. When you use hot milk or water, just dump it fast over the mix. You can mix in the cup itself.

@@lk-py6iz this South Korean Dalgona coffee looks suspiciously like a greek frappé coffee en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frapp%C3%A9_coffee which is made by whipping instant coffee, water, milk and sugar into cream with an electric milk frother. I'm sure that you can achieve whipping it by hand with a spoon or an egg beater wire, but you'll need to break your wrist for hours to do so. My advice: use either an electric milk frother or a cocktail shaker, it'll be much quicker.

*For anyone wondering how it tastes, then here you go:* It tastes JUST LIKE COFFEE, except it is much bitter (according to this recipe). The only difference is the texture because it is softer than normal coffee. Other than that, this is just the same so its not worth spending much time on this. But yeah, you can do this if you're bored this is a nice timepass I guess. I prefer cold coffee to this.

The coffee you're making it's called Frappe and it's from Greece. A little back story for the coffee: Frappé coffee (also Greek frappé or café frappé Greek: φραπές, frapés) is a Greek iced coffee drink made from instant coffee, water and sugar. Invented through experimentation by Dimitris Vakondios, a Nescafe representative in 1957 in Thessaloniki, frappé is sold primarily in Greece and is among the most popular drinks in Greece and Cyprus, and is available at virtually all Greek cafés. The word frappé is French and can be defined as 'chilled in crushed ice'. The frappé has become a hallmark of post-war outdoor Greek coffee culture.

i found a GREAT way to make this even better. either before you put the milk in the cup or after you have everything in the cup, put some golden syrup in! it tastes EXACTLY like a Starbucks caramel frappuccino! you could also substitute the syrup for chocolate, rasberry or strawberry sauce or vanilla extract or crumble cookies into it if you want. but this makes jt taste EVEN BETTER. its literally just like homemade starbucks.

tip: if you have the luxury of owning a hand mixer use it with one prong and whip the instant coffee in the cup you’re going to drink out of! it whips up a lot faster and uses less dishes! the whipped portion will still float to the top after you pour in your milk, and i also find that it mixes a lot better this way vs with the coffee whip at the top :)
