Good advice l'm in the process of buying an xsr 700 here in Aussie after not having a bike for over 35 years. l started back on a virago 250 and have ridden it for 18 months. It was mainly to get used to a road bike as l've had a duel sport back ground. Getting skills riding on the dirt has made me a much more confident rider. Thanks again for the good info Can't wait to get my new bike👍

Yeah the dirt is always a great place for newer riders to learn

this was my thinking exactly. I didn't wanna buy a total beginners bike and then want to upgrade as soon as I'm used to it. I figure I'll grow into a more powerful bike, but, I say that as someone who trusts myself to do it safely/properly. Plus I don't want something that I have to crank the throttle just to keep up on the highway and end up wearing the engine out faster.

I own an XSR700 as well, and a DRZ400SM. They’re both super fun, and the XSR has way more power than people think from the specs! Definitely a good time!

I have the same bike and I've been riding for years since my childhood. I'm very happy with it. It's fast enough.

That looks like a good starter Bike is not too fast and not too twitchy from what I hear

Ive heard the complete opposite.

If you are a little older or have experience on dirt bikes this is a fine bike to start on. But if you're young and if you've never driven a manual transmission of any kind or do not have any concept of Motorsport at all I would not recommend going from a Toyota Corolla straight to this motorcycle lol

@@TheCoolestCourier Thanks, you are very helpful yes Im older, and all my life even now I have driven a manual transmission and I have a general idea of how a motorcycle works. To me, it seems like a beautiful-looking machine.I love the looks of it .

Yeah it is really great and the 2021 and up looks even better with the black trim and LED lights. It's definitely the most fun bike per dollar I can think of and it's not as crazy as some people say. It has a longer wheelbase than an mto7 so it only Power wheelies in first gear. The throttle has a pretty long travel so it's not something that happens on accident either. Couldn't recommend it enough

@@TheCoolestCourier I learned to ride on a grom and been riding for 2 months. You recommend for my second bike?
@bananafoneable Жыл бұрын
I started on 400 BUT it feels like it was screaming to catch-up to highway traffic. People drive far too fast for the smaller displacement.

After a year, mostly sticking with street riding, I was bored out of my mind

Yeah for anyone with experience driving manual or fast cars, or dirtbikes I always suggest an sv650 or mt07 for someone's first street bike

Why doesnt yamaha make a 400 of this bike? 😌
@TheCoolestCourier2 жыл бұрын
They don't have a 400 motor they use currently for anything, they make an mto3 if that's what you're thinking. I suppose they can make an xsr 300 with that. But I think they know that the mto3 is a little underpowered even for what most people want as their first bike and I think they're going to update that platform soon, I would love to see something with 500 CC from Yamaha like Honda's Rebel 500 which by the way is what I recommend if you want something smaller than this bike

@@TheCoolestCourierIn germany you can buy the xsr700 reduced in power for a lower class motorcycle licence and when you upgrade your licence that can be removed. Maybe thats an option? I dont know how much more manageable the power is then but that would be an option. Other yamaha MT-07 i think it was also has a rain setting that reduces the twitchiness a bit 😅😅

Yeah there's a lot of risks to be aware of and they shouldn't be forgotten just because someone has experience
@billbaxter38008 ай бұрын
Nearly everything you do in life is a calculated risk. Don't forget to do ur calculations while ur riding. And wear ur gear.
