I have a student copy of the full creative suite that I bought a physical copy of when I was in college in 2010. I like that I own it, but I am very envious of the new features subscription people get. Several of them would save me hours of work.

I've been using Paint Shop Pro from Corel since before when it was owned by JASC. It's affordable and I just upgraded again. I upgrade every 3-5 years. It's not actually necessary to have the latest and best at every moment. Figure out how to use the stuff you have better is my advice and make better choices than what's most popular.

It’s funny how we can spend all this time making sounds and music and at the end of the day nothing is more soothing than the sound of a rainy day in the woods. Crafsman you made me get all philosophical with your editing, well done.

Crafsman, your content always makes me smile. The state of the world, combined with my current health issues, has been tearing me down. But whenever I watch your videos, I always get a smile and a new idea for a project out of it. Thank you for making the content that you do, I really hope you're doing as well as you can through everything right now. You're a great force to have as a creator.

@@MaximilianonMars Yes and no. I'm chronically ill and disabled, so a lot of it is just the norm for me. Something new has popped up though, and it'll hopefully be found to be a minor issue!

I did this for my parents' old pop-up camper when they were refurbishing it and were tryin' to pick colors for the cabinets and counters. I suggested a pwder blue and harvest yellow. They were skeptical, until I took some photos and and did a color overlay in photoshop. Great and easy for any paint jobs around the house! There are probably even some apps for it now.

Simple trick that's easy to overlook if you're a photoshop newbie. If you have a color figure that you want to make grey for the color previs, just switch the color mode of the project to greyscale then back to RGB. That will dump all the color information and give you a grey image of your figure.

I've been known just to do a silhouette cutout and paint - not as nice as a software photo, but it gives you an idea. Usually your gut instinct tells you right off what will work, but I have indeed had some carvings (I do a little Doug Linker style carving) that defied proper colorization. Most notable, this mushroom man thing I still have right here on my desk. It had so many layers of acrylic on it, I scraped it all off to start fresh, and natural wood so far is the color to beat. Thanks for your hints and tips Mr Craftsman! I always learn something and enjoy the video to boot!

Crafsman! Best part of waking up, is Crafsman video in your notifications! That didn’t rhyme, but that’s ok. I thought you were going to explain how you visualize colors in your head. I said, “ Man! That’s gonna be a tough one to pull off cause we can’t see inside of your head.”, but you come bringing more techologistical stuff making me want to buy some software and try dat. That looks like a better way than what I been doing. Guessing. You know I love you back.

When working on painting compositions, I use photoshop to combine elements and adjust the colors as I like. I use that comp as a reference for the actual painting. This way, I know I'm working towards an image that I already like!
