Hi, Norinne! I love, love, love, this video. This post is too long, but I think it is so important for you to realize how your videos are inspiring, motivating, stress reducing, informative and encouraging. I began watching your videos and started to organize things around the house.About a year ago I ripped out the carpet in my craft/sewing/office room and installed a floating floor myself. (I was so proud of myself.) At that time, I created 3 zones using old furniture and a few desktops and legs form ikea. I sorted all of my supplies into broad categories. That worked well but I found that I was hauling bins out of the closet to get to some of the supplies and I wasn’t making things because it was a pain to haul the stuff out. I have watched your videos and decided to do a “Norinne”. I took my buttons for sewing and put them inside binders in trading card sleeves, sorted by color, put glitter in dollar tee salt and paper shakers and put it on the wall in the crafting area in a thrifted spice rack, did the binder thing with stickers and transfers, sorted all of my beads and beading supplies in those little wood drawers that I already had from Ikea, and made the little drawers from DT that you did a video on, too. Fabric is in one dresser, yarn in another, all protected from sunlight, and I have six cube units with bins under two desks for larger supplies-likes with likes. The last phase will be labeling everything tomorrow. I spent the last five days doing this and re watched some of your videos when I got stuck. When I was overwhelmed I took a break and broke down the next task to do for fifteen minutes and then just moved into the next fifteen minutes without realizing it. You gave me a great start last year with your directions, telling us it is do-able, we can change things, and showing us how to do this...without stress....taking small steps...enjoying the process....and tweaking it for what works best. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. P.S. Thank you also for the suggestions and help with my garage....it is more organized and functional than it has ever been-that was late winter, early spring. I love the shelving unit and the ability to move it where I need it. I can find everything so quickly in both places, and put it back almost right away. So functional and practical, and they look nice, too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have had a deep, major, impact on my life. You showed me that my disability(Cushing’s Syndrome) does not have to stop me from doing what I love, and showed me how to make it happen! I will remain eternally grateful, and touched. -Dana

Hi Norrine, I just wanted to rake a minute to thank you for your channel. I moved into this house about a year ago. We have been renovating since we moved in. We are in the kitchen now and my sweet husband built me a kitchen tool pantry. As He was adding the roll out shelves and asking me where to put each shelf, I thought of you saying put likes with likes. I will be taking everything out of the food pantry tomorrow that doesn’t belong there. Then I will put likes with likes before I put them in there new home. Again thank you for your channel. Today I learned what I am going to do with my under the bed bags after I get the kitchen done. Blessings

I love seeing the before and after photos. They are very inspirational. I would like to add a word of caution. I worked in a fabric shop for over 10 years and I know that any fabric will fade when exposed to any light. If fabric is not going to be used for a few months, it needs to be covered, or put in closets. Even clear plastic will not protect it. I've lost too much yardage when a piece of fabric got left out and I had a faded area to work around. This applies to ribbon, also. Thank you for the great information. I appreciate you. ❤

Using her idea for the wire shelves, instead of putting them in a corner, or long side against the wall, you could put them side by side with a little walkway between, much like you'd find in a small public library. Put the narrow side against the wall, with the bulk of the shelf jutting out into the room, then leave enough space to walk and pull stuff off the shelf and add the next shelf, repeat until you run out of room.

This information is so important to me. Paper is the bane of my existence!!! This helps tremendously. I am also newly into crafting and suffering from no storage. First everything was a mess in my living room but I tried to get a handle on the supplies by using Rubbermaid tubs separating like with like. I've moved everything into the dining room now but it's still a disaster and I need to use it as a dining room too. I am single with no help to straighten it out. Sometimes I feel like I am losing my mind. I work as a caregiver and I am limited on face time with the mess but I can finally see a difference but finding a home for everything is a struggle. Your calm, logical approach to this helps more than you can know.

Go through your home and take a real look at closets and cabinets.... see if there are any under utilized spaces that can get merged to make a dedicated spot for your craft supplies! Don't worry about what a space is "supposed" to be used for. Extra dresser? Craft supplies! Linen closet not full? All sheets/towels on one shelf - the rest is craft supplies! It's ok to think out of the box 💜

I love how you dealt with all of that fabric. I have a lot, too. It's just randomly folded and thrown in a box, with the usable scraps in a carry-on. I thought of a way to do something similar. Now I know how to do it. I like how you described breaking things down into broad categories. Then, to keep breaking each category down further and further. That grocery store example turned the lightbulb on for me!! I do so many different crafts that this is going to help a lot. Especially since I want to have them in their own spaces. I'm hoping I'll have the rest of the house completely done soon enough. Plus, at the very least, the broad categories in the craft room done by the time you're ready to pick your next round of people to help virtually. That way, if I do get picked, I'll be ready to turn your mockups into reality. ☺️☺️ You never ceases to amaze me, Norrine. You have the most creative mind. I'm so blessed to have found you. 💚

Thank you for this particular video. I have been watching your videos for a few months now and binge watched a lot of them. This one I took away your idea of dividing into categories and according to in my case, crafting. I knit, crochet, sew, scrapbook, card making, diy's, you name it I do some. But my craft areas are bulging with either supplies or items, and I'm invading living spaces that should be used as they are purposed. I have in the past , attempted to organize, buying bins, totes and such, but I never seem to have it organized. I just have bins everywhere. Now you have showed in today's video how to break down those categories to further categories until you have a manageable system. Less bins and totes. I have a lot of work to do. You are a great inspiration to those of us who are, not hoarders but unorganized. Thank you for all your good and very useful videos and ideas. I'm envious of your craft room, even though you utilize your garage to do so, I have a huge basement. May God Bless You Richly! ~Debi~ debimill052@hotmail.com

Getting everyone on board is one of the hardest parts!!!! ESPECIALLY if their habits are not effected by the clutter. Try and explain how the clutter impacts you - involve them with the process so that they feel ownership with certain areas- and keep your fingers crossed. I really wish I had a great tip for that one! Good luck!!!!

You spoke to my soul regarding "saving" cardboard boxes.😮 I do repurpose & created storage with them. And use in craft projects. Still...I have waaay too many.😬 Also, the paperwork! I'm disabled & live with family, a multi-generational household. I do a multitude of various crafts. My bedroom is my craft space, my office & my sleep space. I have storage issues, to say the least! Supplies are spread far & wide. I spend so much time searching for things I know I have, which cuts into my craft time as a chronic pain sufferer. And, old paperwork...it's taking over. What a mess! But, this video gave me some ideas & inspiration. You are awesome! You are very creative & just so sweet. Thank you for all the advice you give.💙💙💙

Breaking things down by category is a very helpful suggestion for me. I started tackling my basement last week and it has been hard to know how to organize everything. I kind of was at a standstill but this has given me some direction! Thanks!

This is REALLY GOOD INFORMATION!! Thank You! I'm working on my craft room/office so yah papers, crafts, a work space?!?! My closet is also the access to the crawlspace. I have a couple big tubes (holding light weight items, gift bags, bows, ribbions etc.)that can be easily pulled out to open the floor hatch access. But the closet is almost as deep as it is wide. Consequently I do store items in front of one another! I'll be deciding what I don't need all the time and moving it to the back! Very Helpful!
@nancybarney23304 жыл бұрын
Oh forgot to mention there are 3 evenly spaced shelves above where the tubes are in the closet.

Those lures were incredible! Can't believe how hard that was. My area is paints, beads, tools etc lol Hope all is well with you. Got some great ideas off this one.

Thanks, Diana! Beads are probably just like the lures!!! So many different materials, finishes, sizes..... that would be FUN to organize! LOL

@@TheCraftyOrganizer LOL - wish you were not on the opposite side of the country from me, I have so many beads/charms/findings to still sort. I have been working on it since January! I enjoy your videos, and have been using your category method to not completely lose my mind trying to do this! I really appreciated the suggestions on limiting the types of storage you use. Gemstone and pearl beads are almost all in the same storage type (some are not sorted yet), and there are almost 800 individual compartments in those storage items alone. Then add in all the metal findings, charms, spacer beads, etc. Don't forget separate storage for wire spools, chain spools, and finished necklace chains too.

I have so many different interests! Sewing, beading, DT items, Gallery Glass, acrylic paints, magnet crafts, tools (hand tools, electrical tools, tapes, paint and paint tools, stamps and pads, washi tape- which I NEVER use, photo albums, etc.) I have a quasi system, but it’s so messy!! I need you! But I’m in Maryland!

I walk into a messy room and see a one-dimensional flat wall of mess. My mother would walk into that same room and be able to immediately start seeing categories. She is gone now and this video is helping me immensely. I live in a 600 square foot apartment. I did have a bedroom with crafts; now I have a craft room with a bed. I guess you see my priorities. I will put curtain panels over each of the two bookcases that match my bedspread. What I don't quite understand is how you break down my sewing - painting - scrap/cardmaking categories. I took many notes as you spoke during this video and try to make some lists and break them down. Thank you with all my heart, Noreen! You are so special and kind to help us. Barbara in Dallas.

YES!!!! Since you don't have large times available - use that timer for 10-15 min! You will be amazed at what you get done by the end of one week!
